Wonderful nostalgia from the master. I watched this as a young man at the time of showing. I didn't connect as i should have back then, but I'm making amendments now, thanks to this wonderful video. Many thanks.
Yes, they sailed the way to a place that was almost almost identical to where they came from with one exception winter must’ve been much much more harsh and keep putting than there
We visited Gardenstown/Gamrie for our last holiday as a family in August 1986 (my parents, sister, aunt and uncle, and me) just before my 18th birthday. It was a trip down memory lane for my father, who'd holidayed here as a child in the late 40s'early 50s. I remember the steep descent to the beach.
I’m very impressed with Dr. Boyd. Like anyone of his kind worth their salt, he knows his stuff to the max and is extremely engaging with it. When he says Loch Lomond must be forever, I agree completely!
And now it's rammed full of holiday homes and Airbnb's - not necessarily a bad thing, as it has created jobs and bought investment, though it's hard to argue that something has been lost in the process.
Thanks for posting this great man my hero i have great memories of trying to stay up late to watch him as boy on my black and white tv he gave me a sense of adventure and a pride of Scotland that is still with me today and will be with me till I die in this beautiful country ❤🏴
Had many visits and holidays here in Berwick some history. Should be in Scotland I agree with Tom it’s more of a Scottish feel to it like what Ayr is to Ayrshire is Berwick to Berwickshire. Some folk may disagree but that’s my personal opinion.
A fantastic series. Weir contributed a huge amount to msm when it was genuine. And these are excellent interviews, letting these men speak for themselves. The Ghaidlig service sounds good but cha d fhuair sinn ach boilsgeadh dheth. Bha an t shagairt a bruidhinn gu glic.
