Great video. Very helpful. To all those Nikonos V owners, be sure to remove the plastic cap covering the rewind lever. If you don't, rust will build up and eat the camera's internals. Very important.
I keep hearing the X-Pro2's second gen X-Trans sensor is a big upgrade to the X-Pro1's. Anyone have any experience with both? I'm trying to decide whether I should sell my X-Pro1 and get the 2.
I have considered the same thing but not so much for the sensor, more for the upgraded viewfinder and shooting speed. I’ve never tried the 2 but I’m sure it’s a nice upgrade especially if you don’t have to pay too much for the difference in price. I’m waiting to see if Fuji comes out with a version 4. If not I’m going for the 3
Bro... Your video brought me to tears. Thank you so much for sharing your image and helping someone like me realize the camera I've been looking for. May God bless your work and keep shooting.
Thank you for the kind words. I’m happy this video was helpful to you, that’s why I started a RU-vid channel. It’s an amazing camera, if you happen to get one enjoy!
@@alexbemanian i am an amature phone photographer but i wanna upgrade to a camera . I've watched hundreds of vids about second hand good cameras .but they all are confusing. I recently watched GXACE's video about xpro 1 and now yours . It looks promising tho. Can you pls help me choose one good camera under 500-1000 dollars. Just for casual instagram photography like landscape and street sometimes a bit of astrophotos
heya :) how does the nikonos V compare to the III? i want to get a film camera for surf photography and dont know which is best for their price, what do you recommend?
Hey! If price is a factor , the III is the way to go, you can usually find it at least $100 cheaper. But if you can find a good deal on the V it may be slightly better for surf photography, mainly because the V can shoot 1/1000 shutter speed and the III only goes to 1/500. I love the III and still use it for surf photography all the time. Check out my latest full length video for some tips on the nikonos it may help. Good luck 🤙🏼
Glad you enjoyed it. The shutter mechanism wore out over time. When I bought the camera the previous owner had told me it was wearing out. It got to the point where It wouldn’t fire so I kept pressing it down harder and harder until it complete broke and didn’t fire anymore. It was just due to heavy use over all those years.
It's a beautiful camera, still capable of amazing pictures. If you ever make the mistake of comparing its performance to newer models, you will end up frustrated. If you exclusively do the kind of photography where you have all the time in the world, go for it.
Thanks for the review. I'm interested in one of these or a GW model. Maybe you know the answer: what is the purpose of the translucent white window next to the finder on the front of the camera?
Hey that’s a great question but I don’t know what the purpose of it is. GL GM or GW are all great cameras, I went for the GL so I can use different lenses, and I still only have one lol.
first thank you so much for this video. I just got one I put the batteries on and the only thing in the viewfinder is this red light that moves when I move the shutter there's no marking is that correct? there's no on/off button correct? thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed it. Adjust your Apeture and shutter speed to how you want to shoot, then half press the shutter, you should see your shutter speed number light up in the viewfinder. When the number stays solid red that’s the shutter speed you chose, if you see a blinking shutter speed that’s the correct shutter speed you should change to for accurate exposure. You might also see a right pointing arrow and left pointing arrow, those are telling you that your way under or over exposed and adjust accordingly. And no on/off switch but there is a shutter lock switch that sort of acts as one right next to shutter button. Hope this helps! Good luck
Dope video again, love your style! How would you compare it to the 35 f2 you got? what are the big difference in feel of the images (except focal length and aperture ofc)?
thank you, i appreciate it! i can hardly tell a difference between the two, if i hadnt bought the 35mm f2 first i would have probably saved the extra money and just got the 27 instead. If i were to really pick things apart, i think the fuji has slightly smoother bokeh but its also faster at f2. But, i really prefer the design of the 27 because of the apeture ring. There both equally great, if price is a factor then the 27 wins.
Hey man, out of every X Pro 1 Video I’ve viewed (a lot!) your photos stand out like drastically, I love love love the look and summer vibes!! Were the example photos sooc or edited raws? And if so how did you edit them and did you always use the pro mist filter? Big up from me, keep it coming!! 👏🏻 (And how would you compare it to the XE1 if you also had the opportunity to shoot it?)
Hey man I really appreciate the kind words , thank you! There were some sooc but most were edited raws. I generally start with the astia color profile in Lightroom and edit from there, at least for these photos. I try to use a preset I created for all the photos so they have a similar vibe. Yes the filter has always stayed on my lens, it’s a 1/8th. I’ve always wanted to pick up an xe camera but I haven’t been able to, my understanding is you can get the exact same image quality with the xe1 as the x pro1 since it’s the same sensor. I think the main difference is just the body style and EVF, the x pro has an optical viewfinder as well which is nice to use that the xe does not have. Hope this helps
@@alexbemanian thank you for your detailed answer. and yes after all the research I done I came to the same conclusion except one point : some resources say that the xpro1 doesn't have a low pass filter which improves the amount of detail that can be produced by the camera. But other resources say XE1 AND XPro1 both don't have the filter. I'm pretty sure the XM1 has a bit different Image quality because it has a different processor than the other two, but XE1 and Xpro1 should be the same except for this one thing but I really can't be sure if it's just the Xpro1 without the filter or the XE1 too. Mabe you got some information about that?
Hey great video! Do you know if the Nikonos V o-rings fit with the Nikonos III? I can't seem to find any of Nikonos III but the V are pretty common. Thanks!
thank you, the Nikonos V o rings are larger than the III o rings by a pretty good amount. You may be better off finding O rings for the I or II since those cameras are about the same as the III. Ikelite also sells O rings in different sizes, maybe you can find one with a similar circumference as the III and make it work? that has always been my backup plan if my o rings ever go out but i never actually tested it out. hope that helps, good luck!
Never heard of this brand before, great results! I just came across your channel and I'm already looking forward to that underwater shooting video (specially with the strobes!)
thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I probably should have made this more clear in the video but the Nikonos was made by Nikon in the later years. Yeah the underwater shooting process definitely deserves a full video, so much to cover.
Hey , it’s all personal preference , if you had them all sitting on the table, which would you grab first? I favor the x pro body style but I’ve never had an xt camera, there all good choices.
Alex I ordered my first Nikonos a few days back after watching your videos, and it literally arrived today. Stoked to also now get this one! Incredibly helpful thank you!
