This video was very informative cause I wasn't sure what brand to go with . I would've liked to see both the old and new headlights on at the same time to be able to better see the difference, but thanks for the video
Thank you Tarrence! FYI do not buy these bulbs they didn’t hold up very long. They started flickering really bad. This is my cousins truck, he ended up replacing them. Not sure what he went with.
Hey thanks for the video. I already have an existing bsck up camera, but the picture quality kinda sucks. I was hoping to replace just the camera. Will I be able to skip the steps of running the wire through the truck and just be able to connect at the rear wheel, or do I have to do the whole process?
It’s going to depend on the connections on your current back up camera. A lot of these back up cameras have the same connections, if they are the same you won’t have to run new wires.
How do you secure the unit? The old radio bracket doesn’t fit so the only things holding the unit in place is the plastic clips. One big bump and unit pops out. I haven’t found a video of showing this and I think it’s a major flaw. What am I doing wrong?
Fortunately I haven’t had any issues with the head unit popping out. Mine is pretty secure with just the clips. Try pushing the wires further back and out of the way. It’s possible the wires are bunched up and pushing on the head unit. You could also order brackets for a single DIN and see if you can make that work.
Why'd you skip attaching the brackets to the new side plates on the new unit. That's exactly whata not working for me. Screw holes on rhe new head unit are miss aligned by 1-2 millimeters and its messing up the whole install.
I did use the brackets for the install. I may have missed this step while editing the video. The head unit should have come with 2 sets of brackets. If it’s not lining up try the other set.
I ended up returning it. The 9" may work but I've seen people saying the WiFi disconnects periodically. 🤷♂️. Not sure what I'm going to do at this point to upgrade the stereo
My main question is did you have to re route any wire for steering wheel buttons? My Amazon generic DIN doesn't match with my Metra harness which doesn't have a labeled steering wheel option
There are no wires to reroute steering wheel controls, just follow the steps to program them to the new head unit. I have new video on my channel that you will like. Go check it out.
Hello Paulina and Josh! I heard about your channel on Trent and Allie today! I have been following them since their Van Life journey began. What a great gift of Tye-dyed socks! I will have to check out your channel and your shop! I have already subscribed. I have a very new RU-vid channel that I’m slowly working on. Have an awesome day!
Hi Raine! We love Trent and Allie! They are the only RU-vidrs that we don’t miss an episode! It was really cool to watch them open up the package we sent.
Thanks for sharing this video. I have just installed this dash cam on my vehicle using the hardwired kit; however. I'm not sure if the camera works when the car is not on. I believe I did everything correctly. How do you know that the camera is working when the cars is parked?
I have been jumping back and forth on alot of these aftermarket touch screens. So many with good and bad reviews i am unsure which to go with but i did watch your other video. What are your thoughts on the stereo?
Dasaita is 100% the way to go. I absolutely love mine. There are a lot of junk android units on the market so it is really important to research the company before buying. I’ve installed a lot of these and so far Dasaita has been the best. amzn.to/3zGLasR
@Paulinaandjosh thank you for fast reply! I am actually currently watching your video now on that one. I didnt notice you installed a new one til I found the video. Thanks again!
@Paulinaandjosh I just ordered the same one and the back up camera can't wait to install it. I'm guessing yours was non JBL which is why you picked the left cords?
Looking at 2013 Tundra. Backup camera shows up in the rear view mirror. Assume that the camera would still connect with this Viabecs Apple Car Play and the camera would then show up in the new DASH display?
The camera video will show up on the mirror OR the Android unit. It just depends on which one you plug the video cable in. You can try using a video cable splitter to see if you can get both displays to work. I haven’t tried this but if you do let me know how it goes. Also you should check out my channel I have a video for a different Android unit you might like.
@@Paulinaandjosh So i would be using the Apple car play not android … Don’t really care to have displays in both places, so was wondering if you’d have to unplug video cable from rear view mirror (and if that is difficult) to plug into new dash set up? Not to mechanically inclined so just wondering. Thank you. Nice video demonstration, too.
You would use Apple or Android depending on what type of phone you have. The head unit connects to your phone and pulls the information from your phone, Apple or Android and displays it on the head unit. You would disconnect the yellow video cable that is running to the mirror and connect it to the video input on the head unit.
@@Paulinaandjosh I figured out how to wire them now, I just can’t seem to get the fog light to clip into the 2 little clips on the sides, is that what the adjustment screw for the first clip is for
Yes the fog lights come with screws and clips to help secure them if the fit is not snug. There will be a screw hole on the top of the fog light. There may be a little cap on it to take off.
I appreciate that Roy! The previous owner put the grill in. Not sure where they got it. I was thinking about changing it up if I can find something I like better.
Hey I can’t really tell. Do you have any lift or level done to it? I have an 07 same color and I’m hesitant to do any other upgrades before leveling mine. But the service department at the dealership I got it from (I have connections there) are saying it’s a super costly job specific for the tundra because it requires redoing the A arm setup. Have you heard of any of that ?
@@Paulinaandjosh sweet dude thanks! I’ve seen a video installing that same kit. Looked simple enough I’m just not sure what they were saying about the A arms. They said it would be around $1200. So I was like hell no that’s not right. I don’t know if they’re trying to screw me or if there’s actually something different to it
Unfortunately, my kids bought this for me. In Canada, this does not come with the hardwire kit. I had buy it separately from Amazon. Thanks for your prompt reply.
It’s been awhile since I got mine. Not sure when they stopped supplying it. I noticed it does not mention the hardwire kit in the description on Amazon anymore.
They sure do! They just need to be programmed. It’s pretty easy to do. Check out my channel. I have a video for another android unit that you may like.
This unit doesn’t have a canbus so the computer board acts like one. I believe the newer model comes with a canbus which would make installation much easier but you’ll need to double check me on that.
@@Paulinaandjosh which unit is better? I ordered the viabecs based off your video, and then noticed that it was getting replaced by the this one… so now I feel like I got the wrong one
Did you used the Sim card and if you did how did it work I got the same unit 2 months ago ans the Sim card work for a bit and stop working so I have to returned I like to use the unit as stand alone wirh the tmobile sim card I have a 2023 toyota 4Runner sr5 premium How's the quality of the backup camera now with the unit?
I’ve installed a few of these Android units but I’ve never put a sim card in. I’ve always been curious of how well it works. Camera quality is great and it’s much nicer having the bigger screen.
Driver side or passenger side is personal preference. I prefer the passenger side where it is out of my view and I’m not distracted by the screen. The rear glass does roll down. I’ve rolled it down 1 time just to see if it worked. It will probably never be rolled down again lol.
I got the same upgrade today, but confused how to hook up the back-up camera (factory) from the rear-view mirror to the new head unit. Advice? By the way, very informative video 🤙🏼
I've seen a few vids of stereo install and I don't think you need to take all that plastic off. I only take the bottom cubby thing, the climate control, the stereo and then I pull the days slightly out. It's much easier. Just an FYI.
@@Paulinaandjosh Must have missed it. Sorry. I think if you're running new lines + amp + subs...probably need to remove most of the stuff. I'm lazy tho. LOL
It may be a long shot but could you help me with those two original wires you mentioned at 9:07, the smaller one was cut off by the previous owner if my '13. i need to know what colors goes where in the socket. it looks to be a 4 connector wire. any help?
