Diminishing returns on traditional farming revenues. Intergenerational lack of desire to manage/ own, but interest in the divvy up of capital. Are some of the changing underlaying issues facing mega blocks. I'm not a farmer, my Fathers side was. Bring it on, too much land locked up in small numbers of owners.
I like that your video shows farmers and townies that is does not have to be about retiring productive land to native. There is so much marginal land and small unusable plots to start on and many of those are within town boundaries and near roads. Even creating small islands of native bush so that native birds can move from one area of native bush to another. I live in an area where the hillsides are covered in gorse while 15 minutes away land that was once farms, orchards and horticulture is being turned into housing. It's madness.
Good on this guy for doing what he’s doing. I don’t believe the vilification of farmers in recent years is entirely justified. They have tried to paint the entire industry with the same brush. I believe large, industrial factory farms and feed lots like you see in America and other parts of the world need to be stopped as it doesn’t do any good by the animal and the process I don’t believe benefits human health either. What this guy is doing is far from that and I fully support farmers who want to do right by their land and provide a good environment for their animals like this guy does. People have been brain washed into thinking all farming is bad, that is a lie I see primarily soaked up by city folk and people so far removed from rural living that they think their food originates from the supermarket.
