Rachel Lietzke, CEO of Fast Aviation|Founder of HangarSwap.com|Pilot|Mom Taking over the world one airplane at a time! Welcome to my vlog, where you will find me talking about running my aircraft salvage business, life, and other entrepreneurial adventures along the way. This channel is set up to be entertaining, but also informative for my fellow business owners out there. You will encounter my everyday struggles and thoughts regarding running an aircraft salvage business, successful website, and the mom life of two boys!
Thank you for doing this, it's such an awesome thing that you're doing, what a great hobby. I'm glad you guys are making vids for us to enjoy, seeing these pieces of the great airplanes is not only epic but it must be fun and exciting finding them in such random and distant locations. I'm sure you know but I'll still say it, it's very important that we remember our past, especially the difficult times, and the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our beautiful country. Once again thank you and keep these great vids coming please, love this fighter plane search vid.
I'm in the process of purchasing my first plane. Salvaging planes is FAR from what I do for a living, but I would absolutely love to. I look forward to following your channel!
You popped up in my recommendations, and I've watched almost all of your videos. I see a ton of potential here. Smart, funny, driven and beautiful. Plus, who doesn't love aviation! Maybe a colab with Cleetus McFarland would help propel your channel. Keep up the great work!
I prefer to "ask" people to do things, not "tell" them what to do. Like, "hey! You're super good at this, would you mind taking care of that." Worked great as a shift lead doing hospital security.
I didn’t hear anything you said, but I sure was watching😉. Im the guy who contacted you recently about my old bonanza, whose wing ran into a turkey during flare to a landing😡
@@Aircraftsalvagequeen 2 so the hole top has to lift up kind of a pain ,yours look identical to mine from what i can see in the video and looks like the same pain job, i have totally re modeled and up graded and painted mine totally diff plane now.
Interested in knowing the cost to purchase and the cost overhaul. Just splitting the case will be expensive with new bearings, plus the cost to overhaul all 4 cylinders and the cam shaft. How do the lifters look? If the wings have that match too corrosion, I hope you pulled some inspection plates before you took ownership. Even at 0 cost to buy your going to have a hard time making any money on this one IMHO.
Those are some good points. I’ve parted out multiple 150 and 152’s and found 152’s are much more valuable with parts-but also as a whole with low time. I feel that a lot of videos I’ve watched of people overhauling or going through an engine don’t talk about the cost. I think it would be a great point to really be open about the cost of the engine to bring it airworthy. The cost of an overhaul and avionics are one of the main reasons why people part out airplanes, among other reasons. I am going to do whatever is the most economical and put more elbow grease into it rather than the “quickest” route-which is usually more costly. Thank you for this comment-I will be making a video about the cost going through the engine. In regards to the wings, even if they’re BER, replacing them will be less than $5k if I had to purchase them but since I have a salvage yard, I can do some wheelin’ and dealin’ with other salvage yards locally.
@@Aircraftsalvagequeen I might have to call you for Piper Pacer parts. I have a 1950 Pacer that hasn’t flown in 24 years. Last annual was in 2000. Engine looks good with cam, tappets, and lifters, just need cleaned up. Top overhaul was only 100 hours ago. Full books and matching numbers. But it’s like an onion. Every time I take something apart I find another thing that needs fixed. I’m planning on doing a complete recover now. Parts are hard to find!
Ya I guess so, but I’ve had worse on me with tearing apart airplanes. It’s not a clean or sanitary side of the business. I’d clean my hands with MEK as a kid-can’t get much worse than that. 🤣
Love me a 150/152. I have most of my training in one. Such a great plane. Also those Blue Angels fly low and loud! I live on a 3 mile final for 9L at KSFB - so got a good view of them last time they were here!
I can’t wait to see what you guys do with that sweet little 152. I spent a lot of hours tooling around, and punching holes in this guy in a 152 that I rented frequently. I got nowhere fast, but it was definitely one of my favorite airplanes to fly. Take care, and I can’t wait until the next videos!
True, it's all about the end result/mission for the aircraft. Do you want to flip it to make money? Do you want to have it forever-it has emotional value to you or your family? I look at certain aircraft as hot rods-it can easily turn into a labor of love.
