Exactly what I am saying there's so many haters on the lasernut Facebook page I issued a challenge to horizon hobbies to send me a brand new unopened lasernut in the factory sealed packaging and I will run it on live RU-vid to see how long it lasts. I guarantee that they will not accept the offer. 100% guarantee what's that tell you?
No matter what vehicle you go with they have problems. There’s a lot of know issues with the lasernut. Regarding the front and rear ring and pinion (bull head gears) you must shim these. Front, center, and rear diff cups must also be shimmed (planetary gears) and filled with what ever weight fluid you want to run. A good set of bearings, just like every rc ive ever owned the bearings aren’t the best. And on the lasernut the tie rod/turn buckles aren’t the best, plastic ends are kinda weak. After I did all of this I haven’t had a single issue out of mine. I’m in my 10th 3s run and I’ve ran 4s a few times. Absolutely no issues. If you didn’t/can’t do all of that then don’t try. To make a bad name for it. Because like I said I’ve had to do it to almost everything I’ve owned, as far as fixing the know issues…
The point I am trying to make is that when you spend almost $600 on an electric truck it should last way more than one hour this thing has so many design flaws it should have never been released to the public until they had it right. Way too much money for not enough truck.
I haven’t had any parts break that weren’t my fault. As for the diffs, they need shimmed properly. Then use Losb3569 diff gears. The lasernut needs only a few tweaks to be bulletproof. I’m happy with my purchase. Horizon has sent me over 200$ in parts for free.
They've put me off for over 2 months now. The truck is going back for a new replacement that is going straight back to the hobby store to be sold. You said it yourself they sent you over $200 in parts for free that tells you that there are major design and engineering issues with the truck or else they wouldn't be sending you parts that equal almost half of the original purchase price for free to repair it.
I will admit Losi quality has gone downhill since horizon took them over I can say I blew up a center diff on my first battery pack. Horizon did take care of the parts did take about 3 weeks to get everything was a little bit annoying but they did cover their products. If you do the steps with the email and the pictures that they request you to do everything goes fairly quickly. It is sad though that you can't run these things out of the box with any longevity. It is kind of sad that you have to spend almost another $800 on the vehicle to get aftermarket parts to make it reliable that you can run on a regular basis without any issues. Personally from now on I'm going to stay away from losi and I used to be a hardcore Losi fan had multiple racing vehicles that were used in competition on a regular basis with no issues short of crashes. I will keep the lasernut and slowly add the vitavon parts that are required to make reliable.
As soon as you get that rear diff fixed and get the car running again you'll break the front driveshafts for certain, then you'll be stripping wheel hexes and losing wheels. The front diff will strip at the ring and pinion before long. The car is a lemon and its shocking that it actually got released like this, I really hope you get somewhere with horizon hobbies, dude. I actually bought one knowing all this and it's taken a lot of work and money to get it to a place where its a reliable, solid rid. The wheels are a big problem for a 4s rig with 12mm hexes, they're likely the cause of all the drive train issues.
