I was lucky to meet Chief Tony Odili in PortHarcourt during the conference of the Africa Bar Association in August 2017. My encounter with this legend brought me closer to the spirit of Rex Lawson whose music has entertained and inspired me and Southern Cameroonians over several years. The respect and adiration lawyers from many countries in Africa who attended the conference accorded him, was a testament of the profound influence the music he and Rex Lawson played has on people of different backgrounds in Africa and the world. Rex and Tony Odili were and remain the best. Thanks so much Rex Lawson. Thank God for keeping Chief Tony Odili long enough to provide us a first hand account of the life and times of Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson.
