Nah you are right. Bg5 had to be the right move. And I missed it for like 5 moves 😂 It ended up working out tho, and the bishop ended up being a fine piece if not better than the rook. I do like to play that way too (imbalanced positions, play with the bishops etc). Anyhow I appreciate comment !
Also this might have been my 200th game of a 5 plus hour stream. It's just a random clip. Very hard to play perfectly in these games especially when you play so many in a row. Man, some people would hate if I solved world hunger. I'm eager to see you streaming in the future, GM Parkins!! Perfect play 100% accuracy no blunders!
For real, and i was waiting for that comment! There was an obvious pin that was completely ignored the entire time. Then not taking paid off!? Bishop ended up being a better piece than the rook, but also the opponent hung mate.... so there's that XD
If he were smarter, he would have called on the leaders of the countries to sit down for negotiations in order to end the war faster, instead of banning athletes from chess.
Chess players used to use flags on their clocks that would fall down when time ran out. So "flagging" somebody simply means you play fast in attempt to make your opponents flag fall :)
But look at Kasparov's competition compared to who Magnus has to deal with. Still a class act, but Magnus is the goat. Kasparov would never say this about Magnus.
Kasparov says very positive things about Magnus's ability. Kasparov wouldn't say this though. Kasparov won't pick a GOAT. He doesn't compare players from different eras. I'm sure you have heard them discuss this. Magnus has seen Garrys career. He said before he needs more longevity to pass Kasparov. I think it's a reasonable assumption. I think he will though. He's not far off from that goal. If he does he'll tell you he believes he's the GOAT.
That was big of him to honor Kasparov and also of course standing up against the Putin regime. Sure hope FIDE comes to their senses and continues to block Russian and Belarussian participation.
It's reasonable. He believes he needs more longevity. He's discussed on Lex what he needs to do to overtake Kasparov and he said longevity. Kasparovs career was so unreal. Magnus is close though. Even his longevity is getting really good.
