LogicProHacks is about sound design through various hacks in Music and PC/Server hardware & gear. Reviewing older analog synthesizers, from the Korg RADIAS, Korg Trition Extreme to the very rare Yamaha TX816 (Eight DX7's in one rack unit). Taking an old retro tape cassette recorders and creating new sounds. Mixing new gear and effects with older hardware synths and hearing the results. Building Linux File-servers to host huge samples archives. Build a VMware ESXi server and then host an old Windows OS and push music through its network. Our main goal is to push the boundaries of music by combining the retro gear of yesterday with the technology of today.
We also create tutorials, Power Tips, Synth Reviews and Music production tips in Logic Pro X, Cubase Pro 10 , Propellerhead's Reason 10, and Reaper, Plus we offer many Digital Audio workstation Templates, which allows you to learn even more. "Music Infused with Technology!"
I can’t find the logic environment for my Korg pa5x???? I did search Korg’s website but I can’t find it. Can someone please help me find where I can download the Korg pa5x Logic Pro environment? Thanks 🙏
I heard you say that, “ … you don’t like the power cords; they get tangled up,” referring to the kink/bend every 4”-5” due to the way they’re packaged with a twist tie. A simple and effective way to eliminate those cord kinks is the first use a blow dryer over the cord for a few minutes to relax the kink, being careful not to concentrate the heat too much for too long a period of time. Be patient and you’ll have great results.
Thank you for the help! I actually had 2 problems, 1. i was using a mono to mono spliter instead of a stereo splitter, and 2. was i wasnt using a splitter at first and instead of L&R out port i was using a single out port used for daisy chaining (rookie mistakes), but i will look into TS cables bc i see that mentioned alot. Thank you for the response@@Joedoriamusic
Hi, what do you think about mixing everything finished in 440, master and then, bounce/export? Without binaural beats and possible vocals. Then the result will be wrong. Then again tune the exported wav file to 528, 432 or whatever you are looking for. Binaural and vocals are added afterwards to, for example, 528 Hz and a new master is made. In this case, you get around the problem by constantly checking that all the instruments you use have the frequency you are looking for. Or will the result not be the same?
I'm still trying to figure out how to use my headphone with my small sterling audio... thought I'd just be able plug them in and go... apparently I'm retarded.
With the Focusrite units, you can run the output 7 in the back into the SHA8. For some reason Focusrite headphone jacks are parallel to outputs 7&8. That would just prevent running from the front jacks. It works either way though.
cool video. Does it allowe you to have additionnal output for mixing in your daw? for cue mixing? for exemple if you want different mixe to go in differente headphones. does it allow that? or it is just the same mix on each headphone but with different volume? thanks
Sort of... You will need to route the 2nd Cue mix from your DAW to a 2nd Stereo output on your Audio Interface and then cable that to a designated input on the Sterling. Keep in Mind, the Sterling is just an Amp with mixing knobs. I recall it supports two stereo source inputs. This all depends if your Audio interface supports more than one stereo output. e.g. Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 has 5 stereo outputs and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 has only one stereo output. I hope this helps.
Probably, I recall the headphone split cable was a hard one to find true TRS for. I'm doing a stereo split to mono left and right. I don't believe there's a cable that can do TRS for mono L/R when split. Plus, the unit was not really designed to input audio from a computer interface, more designed for a soundboard or mix studio with live feeds.
Awesome tutorial! How would I use the Moxf8 in a logic 10 and Apogee Duet together. I just need the Moxf8 to play a certain Kontakt piano while my midi controller is using all the rest of my Aux keys. Right now the Moxf8 is playing the same stuff as my controller. I just need it to play a certain channel and that’s it. Thanks in advance for your help.
for what it’s worth. stanford univ had a student composition event where they used chowning’s fm synthesis on a large mainframe computer. big sound was an understatement. the unforgettable program every composition used was a pitch bending pulse wave, similar to portamento or a bend wheel. it was a monster sound.
Amazing video! I do have a Kurzweil PC4 that has FM and layering ability and I am building programs that will have att least 8 DX7 's layered together. Very good video!
Hi, thanks for your explanations to simplify. I have a question which I hope you can answer. If I have a fantom x, and I have another synth like a roland, if I wanted to play my Fantom X as the main keyboard, and for the sounds of the fantom to be able to be played on the other synth also, can that be done? I basically want to extend my fantom allowing more keys to be used than just 61 keys on my fantom. Thank you
hello why do i get a mono track in audio track in logic x 10.4.8 when i go into my korg karma and start to play the combi work with karma mode etc.. very annoying problem. that problem started 1 week ago, do i miss a driver etc? when i work with my korg karma hope there is a solution for my problem.
This post may be over 7 years old, but it was a Godsend for me on a Friday after a very frustrating week of trying to figure things out! I'm using 99% virtual Midi ports with the Bome Network & Bome Unlimited Named MIDI Ports software apps (not the Bome Box), & this "External" approach works for me with all of my VSTs setup in Reaper in Win.10, which I'm networking with my Macbook Pro. Except for an external keyboard plugged into my Motu Midi Express on the Mac-side for note input composing, I'm just using Midi data from Logic to trigger/send the composed music to the hosted VST sounds & effects plugins ALL loaded in Reaper Win. 10, while in Logic, I added Midi, NOT " Software Instrument" tracks for routing. NO Logic audio or plugin sounds are used, & though I used "Audio-Midi" to add my Motu & keyboard connections, the 2 Bome Software apps both work outside of Apple's increasingly outdated "Audio-Midi-IAC" channel setup, it's otherwise strictly Ethernet LAN Midi connections made between computers. Just to add, IPMidi & CopperLAN are the only other virtual Midi software apps that I know of, IpMidi works for this as well (I used the trial), while CopperLAN is no longer developed & is very confusing & unreliable to use. MidiOverlAN is a dead program. I felt I should detail my setup here for other lost Midi music souls dealing with this, since there is very little to no info for virtual Midi network users specific to this issue posted on RU-vid, nor an explanation that this same concept can also apply to virtual Midi connections, & I was ready to blow a gasket before I found your tutorial today. So thank you, & bless you too! 🙏
Wow looks like magic : we can changing everything and no pianist can mutch this working ever : best wishes . I wonder if I can use this on my piano creations also ?
