Axle or trailing arms?
@arktocampers
@arktocampers 3 дня назад
Hey Bryan. It is Timbren Axle Less suspension. So, no axle. But also not necessarily trailing arms either. They ride great, and are really stable on the road/trail.

My opinion, hands down the best trailer opinion for the off grid/ non campground market!! I met the owner/builder (the guy in the video) last year at overland expo mountain west. This trailer is super cool, very nice, more storage than you may even need. I just wish solar power was included..... It will fit in your garage if you need, you can stand up in it to change clothing etc..... there are some awesome teardrop trailers out there, this Arkto is WAY better!!! Its on my list of things to buy.... some day..... Go check one out at B and B RV in Denver!!

Alright so right now im respectively giving you 2 middle fingers for being able to fold that away so fast. When i try your method tomorrow and it works i shall change that to 2 fist bumps and hugs

Hahahaha. Great comment. Even better method, that I figured out, is to fold up the forward/right side straight up, not up and to the right. It alleviates a bit of tension on that forward velcro strap.

I had to put 3" straps on the outside to secure everything. Those short factory straps are nuts. Looking forward to next trip so I can put it away correctly. There is a technique to it. You showed the simplest way.
@arktocampers
@arktocampers 3 месяца назад
Hopefully it works out for you! I started using a slight modification to the 'fold up' technique. And that's when folding up the forward/right side, instead of going up and to the right, just fold straight up on that side, and then continue up and left on the left side. The result is that the fabric isn't at its thickest right under the strap, it's thickest just to the left of the strap, making it slightly easier to tighten that first strap. Good luck!
@erickaesman4001
@erickaesman4001 3 месяца назад
@@arktocampers I just got back from storage and tried it this way. 100 times better. However, the black receiving strap on the right was just not long enough. Besides the 3" straps i use on the outside of the bag, I use a 1" strap in the hole/opening for the receiving strap. I use my 1" straps to take up the tension , THEN attempt the receiving strap. Next trip out Ill try the folding method instead of the roll to the outside method.

You bet. Very expensive to build too. And since we don't assemble in China, like a few of our competitors, labour is not cheap either. These overlanding trailers are certainly not your Jayco type products assembled with staples. ;) Quality comes with a price.

Meh, moderately heavier. Maybe an additional 60lbs. But for a chassis of a trailer, there are no other options that offer better rust proofing. Same reason all the Aussie trailers have it. And no, aluminum frames are not the answer for overlanding applications. Naturally, I cannot speak to your personal experiences, or the quality of the galvanizing done to your steel. Zinc just doesn't rust.

lol. They can be locked in position at 15 degree increments. The ground in that particular corner was pretty high, so the leg couldn't be locked in a vertical position. The 15 degree position had to do.

I love this camper. It looks solidly built so will hold up to actual use and won't have to be replaced in a few years. Are more windows an option? I enjoy natural light and lots of breeze to maintain the connection with the outdoors while camping. Even in inclement weather, windows offer a connection with the outdoors.
@arktocampers
@arktocampers 4 месяца назад
Thanks! Unfortunately, no. There are 3 windows in the trailer currently. 2 in the pop top roof canvas, and 1 on the sidewall. Plus the window on the entry door. Plenty of light for a small space like this. The windows on the canvas zip open, so airflow is not an issue at all. Feel free to reach out to us with any other questions.

This is the best "real world" let's go camping video I've seen from a camper vendor! Loved how you walked through all of the little details on how to go about setting up camp, and you made it all look so easy using just one hand! Awesome job making a camper designed for 4-season camping. Do you think the water tank heater is necessary in fall and spring when night time temps might dip below freezing? How do the 200 ah lithium batteries handle the winter camping electrical demand, how many days can you go with the 400 watt on the roof? If you head out again in the winter I'd love to see the awning wall plus propane fire pit setup you use.

Thanks for the vid Aaron. Glad you have one to play with now. The outdoor kitchen is deluxe for sure. Kinda wish there was an interior cooking option for soggy non bluebird days - like most of the winter days here in the pacific NW. I know the awning is an option. But deploying an awning in the rain and packing up a wet awning isn’t a great option. Maybe you’ll make a second model designed for more fowl weather. Winter camping makes the pack nw winters much more enjoyable. Anyway, I do believe your set up is one of the best currently on the market. Great design! Keep going! 😊

Over the years, we have gone from two of us working for 1 hour to setup/breakdown with tent camping, to 30 minutes with our homebuilt trailer with RTT, to what looks like 10 minutes or less solo in the Arkto. We are going to be so spoiled!
