I’m posting this for those who asked. Some is directed towards original video. I’m putting it in bullet points because it got deleted before. Saving money is not about luck like another commenter said. It’s about self control. I’ve been in debt (well Klarna) and still sometimes struggle even now with my spending. So a good first tip is to cut up any credit cards, delete Klarna, clearpay and any other credit apps. Of course pay what you owe first. Get rid of your overdraft. It encourages temptation to spend and has a large interest rate. Take your money out in cash, and only leave in enough for your essential direct debts. GET A NEW DEBIT CARD- if you memorise the numbers, and no longer want to anymore, ask your bank to send you a new one. Make a savings account with limited access; either one where you need to visit a physical bank to withdraw, or one where you can only access 1-3 times a year. Try to put a little bit away every month. Unsubscribe to any mailing lists or companies you like, such as Debenhams, Sephora, or ASOS. It doesn’t matter whether they’re advertising a 10% discount, summer sale or new releases. It’s just a way to draw you into spending money you don’t want to spend. Take your card details off websites. Automatically saving them makes spending easier. Unsubscribe to any free delivery subscriptions you have, including Amazon prime if you just use it to buy shite. Ditto if you buy stuff off it that you can easily go out and get. Ask your phone network if they will do a discount for being a loyal customer. Vodafone took £5 off my monthly bill just because I asked. It might seem cheeky, but the worse they can do is say no. Write down what you spend. I’m aware some people including rose keep a spreadsheet or even info on an app but they’re very easy to avoid. Write it down in a notebook, and add everything up in a calculator that you’ve spent on treats in the last month. Have supportive friends! I remember rose had a vlog where she was on slimming world and her friends seemed pretty unsupportive about it. Tell your friends you don’t want to spend much, but also don’t want them to pay. They should be happy to work with you to arrange some money friendly mates dates if you want to see them. When you want to buy something, sleep on it for 2/3 days. Chances are you won’t be that bothered after. Seek professional help. Over-Spending can be due to MH issues, in my case I spent more when my mood was low. Your doctor will understand and be able to help. If you are genuinely in debt you can’t pay back, speak to your bank.
@@RoseKeats I see you have designer bags and a lot of posh unused makeup, maybe worth selling ones you’re not using? Edit: I find Vinted a great platform because buyer pays postage/fees.
@@lovefromjuliaxo because as I’ve said in this video I’ve had a financial cushion from the lack of spending I’ve been doing over the past few years, this is about me putting the brakes on before I completely deplete that, it’s not that I’m in a position where I’ve overspent and need to look at recouping what’s been spent, but if I don’t stop now that might well be the situation I find myself in.
@@RoseKeats okay well hopefully you manage to find some of the points helpful in regards to helping you manage your spending. Something harsh I do with my spending weakness (which is expensive leather planners) is apply a one in one out basis. If I buy one, I flog my old one.
I’ve been missing the budget videos! I hope you do more of them. I know what it’s like to enjoy expensive or designer things (I collect bags) but I am one of those people who enjoys budgeting and finance 😂 If you don’t mind my saying so, what I’ve found is important to keep in mind is the acceptance that most of us simply can’t have everything we want to have. There are always always going to be beautiful or interesting or exciting things out there, but for those of us who do have to budget our money, sometimes we have to look at something we really want and accept that it’s not something we can have (at least for the moment). If you have a budget, you have to commit to it you know? Even if something amazing comes along or if there’s a really good deal, if it’s not in your budget that month, you have to make the choice not to get it. Everything is a choice. Even if you love something or it’s on super sale, it’s not a good buy if it puts you in financial trouble. In the same way, if you don’t have the budget to go out to eat with friends, you have to make the choice to tell them that and stick with not going out to eat, instead of saying “well, I’ll go over but it’s okay this time.” If you say it’s okay “this time” almost every time, that’s a quick way to go over budget each month. You have to choose what’s the most important to spend your limited funds on. That might mean going without certain things some months, but again, it comes down to your choice. Like you said in the video, you don’t need to be wished luck because it’s not about luck, but I’m cheering you on! (Also randomly, I know you’ve been doing mostly project pan videos this year but would you ever consider doing a bag collection video? As you’ve just mentioned you do collect them and I love watching collection videos 😊)
@@classicswithaquirkas someone who’s been in the same situ, I was the one who wrote a huuuge collection of (polite) ideas and it promptly got deleted, I don’t think she wants to hear advice. I completely agree with what you’re saying too. It’s not about luck. It’s about self control. I have reposted it now.
Do you find you use more if you put them in your 100 uses or whether just focusing on the one product or quarter goals? Curious what is proving most successful?
I think it’s slightly different types of usage - the project pan generally is something I use to focus on products I wouldn’t otherwise get use of, products that would organically hang around in my collection for years on a rotational usage basis whereas the quarterly goals are more about reflecting on average, organic use of products that I *should* be going through without necessarily needing to have the items in focussed projects… Of course it then shines a light on the sometimes quite stark difference between what I think I’m using vs what I’m actually using, which can then circle back to inform my project pan by proving that actually I’m not going through x category at the rate I’d like to be so if I want that to go down, it needs more of a focus than just to be something I’m checking in on once a quarter. So I think they’re both really valuable in their own ways, certainly if it’s a product that’s not naturally quotidian the project pan gets me more use of it (there’s no way I’d use the blush and the highlight that I have project pan goals on this year anything like I have done so far because they’re in that project) but if it’s something that just needs a gentle push and for me to stop forgetting about it (facial oil would be my example here, I don’t love it but it would be easy enough to work into my nightly skincare routine if I just remember) the quarterly goals give me that reminder. I think the quarterly goals also involve taking the time to reflect on the totals, the collection as a whole which is motivating vs the project pan focuses on a select number of items. So essentially they’re both really valuable in their own way; which I’m sorry isn’t much of an answer! 😅🙈
I love it so much, if you’d told me a few years ago that I’d find a non matte lipstick that I’d love the way I love lucy dark orange I would absolutely not have believed you, but the formula has been such a game changer and the colour is just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

I was the same for ages I kept holding on to things that weren’t definitely expired but I’ve realised now I have such a big collection that basically 99% of it will end up expired before I can feel I’ve got my use of it, so I’m trying to see it as actually less wasteful to pass on things I don’t love to someone who might actually use them rather than them going unused in my collection, and then that leaves me with less to rotate through so there’s a higher chance of me actually using a higher percentage of what’s left before it goes off. Although obviously the main thing is bringing less in in the first place going forward! 😅😂🙈
Thank you! I think it’s just like the longer I go on the more it solidifies in my head that I will never be able to finish everything so if I get rid of things and have a smaller amount to use I stand a better chance of getting the use out of what’s left than rotating through everything 😅
Several of the project planners I watch do rolling project pans, where they roll in new products once they finish something. Hand cream might be great for a rolling project pan, because you could just start one, and then roll another one in once that first one is finished. You could keep it up all year that way :)
I’ve tended to stay away from rolling project pans because I like to feel there’s an end in sight - and know that once I hit a certain goal I can go back to rotating through my collection and getting the use of more of my things than just concentrating on one blush or whatever, but skincare stuff is definitely a little different to that so I think maybe in the future I might do a skincare specific rolling project pan so I’m always concentrating on some of those bigger categories like hand creams, face masks and body lotions that aren’t necessarily in the daily routine so don’t always go down the same way serums and moisturises do! Hello - Firstly, thank you so much for watching and commenting :) But to answer your question - yes I am doing a budgeting project this year and I am definitely going to be uploading a video about it at some point. I've just needed to get the Q1 specific stuff filmed and edited as it's time sensitive, but I will definitely be going into my budgeting project in videos soon!

As an oily person, i love the Hourglass powder too. I think it especially shines as a retouch powder at the end of the day. Its so beautiful and non cakey. On my second full size...lasts years for me!
It's such a good product - I'm also very interested in the new pressed powder they've just brought out! Pricey but it definitely lasts for ages, I was using that deluxe sample for what felt like forever!
Oh that's odd! I have quite a few of the Gucci lipsticks now and I haven't experienced any issues with them breaking in any of the formulas - I wonder if maybe you and your friends all got ones from a bad batch?

Hi Rose, I really enjoy following your makeup journey and I think it's good not to hoard makeup, but it kinda breaks my heart seeing the Dior quints decluttered - maybe there's a vintage makeup collecter out there? It was such an underrated line I think, I loved the blushes and the lipsticks but also had an excellent foundation from them too. It just never seemed to take off for some reason. Fingers crossed for a more successful return!
Well done on the declutter of the hair products. I also have fine hair and mine is dead straight. All I need is a good hair cut, a Volumising shampoo, a leave in conditioning treatment with heat protectant and a dry shampoo for every now and then. I also admitted to myself that anything else just wasn’t necessary and passed them on to people who could make good use of them.
Regarding skincare, I don’t but backups and I have no subscription boxes. I only buy replacements on 25% off sales and I don’t buy on Gift with purchase offers where you get ‘free’ toiletry bags and extra mini products that I would otherwise never buy. I don’t accept samples that I don’t use and if I accept something that I do use, I use it immediately.
It really is - my big goal is to try and get my collection down to fit in one drawer. Not sure that'll be do-able for this year but it's definitely heading in the right direction!
looking forward to keeping up with your no buy year this year. I went overboard with skincare purchases last year and have made it a goal this year to reduce the amount i buy by half and use up what I already have. So far, I'm on track :)
Roisin, that highlighter has a grill base and so doesn't ever hit 'pan' in the traditional sense. You can clearly see the grill outline in the video! 😊
Thank you! I've done the baked products before where you get down to the squares but I've always managed to actually clean the last dusting of product off to actually expose them, and that's what I'd presumed I'd manage to do with the highlight as well and every day I was using it like 'surely this is the day....' lol!

Oh wow, you are going for it this year!! Well done you - I'm definitely going to be panning in 2024 as well but I think we'll award you the crown right now lol. It's so scary when you do the inventory and see the numbers; especially as make up is mainly small packages of product it can be so easy to underestimate how much you actually have if it all fits neatly into a drawer or whatever, then when you see it in black and white it's so unnerving!
