Can you please clarify if the device can use the car’s standard microphone (Buick Encore 2016), or does it require an additional one to be installed? Also, I’m unclear about the standard UI for the air conditioner and the backup camera. Do I need to exit VLine to use these features, or do they overlay on top of the VLine UI?
Hello, when installed into Buick Encore 2016, the system will use the factory microphone that is already available in the vehicle. The backup camera will keep working and you do not have to exit the VLine mode to access the factory backup camera. It will show up upon the vehicle's reverse. The climate controls data will show up on the screen on top of the VLine UI (the temperature).
What is the best area to place the vline unit??? Coz ive seen some videos of people placing it in the glove box and complaining that it gets hot in there.
If you have VLine VL2 system, install GApps, then establish the access to the Play Store. Then you can download and install any app you like. Here is the link to the user guide: gromaudio.com/docs/vline_manuals/vline_user_manual_web.pdf
We are polishing the update right now based on all feedback we received, and releasing the follow up updates. Please check if there is new firmware update available for your device, and apply it.
@@gromaudio thanks for the update. I also noticed that the icon you tap on the left side for menu navigation doesn't hide when media is playing. If it could disappear after a certain amount of inactivity or have the option to hide it that would be helpful too.
is there an amp somewhere in the system of a 2017 ilx base? i have tinnnyfront speakers no back ones working. i put in an aftermarket radio through the harness and still same issue. i thought it would bypass any built in amp in the factory radio but i cant see how 6 speakers went out at the same time
@gromaudio i have no idea what that means. What is a vl2 system? Im just trying to figure out what isnt working so i can replace it. Is there a bad amp somwhere, a bad fuse? What would cause the factory radio to function but only the front speakers that sound like birds chirping. No back speakers. I just want any audio again.

My cth screen map system is having are problems will this enable this to fix the problem. I would like to put an aftermarket stereo in to replace the navigation screen which I have currently out. Is there a way to do this?
If you want to add the aftermarket stereo in place of the original one, you should contact the local professional stereo shop for the assistance and product selection. It is difficult process to replace the stereo. The GROM VLine VL2 / VLite VT2 system works with the existing factory car stereo and adds CarPlay / Android Auto functionality to it. There is no need to replace the car stereo when installing VLine VL2 or VLite VT2 system. The VLine VL2 or VLite VT2 system might still work for your vehicle stereo, depending on what kind of problems does it have.
Hello, are you using GROM VLine VL2 or VLite VT2 system? If so, the best way to receive the technical assistance is by sending us the request at gromaudio.com/support.html Our technical team will be able to help. As for Google and Apple Maps voice, check the map settings and ensure that the voice guidance setting turned on.
I have a 2010 RX450h. I'm using Android Auto and when I take/make a call, the screen switches to the native car phone. No way to switch back until the call ends, then it automatically switches back to the vline. During navigation this is not really usable. Will this update fix this issue?
If your VLine VL2 system uses the most recent firmware, you should be able to see the Android Auto maps while in the phone call. You do not need to upgrade to Android 12. Please check and update the system to the most recent firmware available.
You do not have to upgrade the battery. VLine is designed to work as fast as possible after you start the vehicle, at the same time consuming as little battery as possible. The normal behavior will be as follows: Within 10-15 minutes after ignition is off, VLine will stay fully up and running, able to process data and installing updates if needed. Most internal LEDs are on. After 15 minutes VLine will go to sleep, consuming around 28mA, ready to start immediately upon ignition. Only one internal LED will be on. After 24 hours of inactive ignition VLine will shut down fully, consuming 1-2mA. Ready to work in 20 seconds after ignition is on. No internal LEDs are on. For context on power consumption, typical headlights draw around 10A (10000mA) More info here: gromaudio.com/forum/forum/vline-lite-support-forum/general-tips/541-vline-vl2-power-consumption
@@gromaudio Great. I have two more questions: 1. This having a reverse camera that it comes with, once we engage the reverse gear and start turning the steering wheel, will the yellow lines also show up (the yellow bended lines) I see that the green and red line proximity lines do still show up but want to know about once the steering wheel starts turning 2. My car has to have some settings accessed through the current stock screen (example adjusting the EQ for sound, changing the temperature for the A/C inside the vehicle) will these still be accessed once I add the new screen? Or would the new screen have similar settings which I can change from there?
@@supervegeta5329 With the GROM VLine VL2 system you do not replace the screen in your car. GROM VLine VL2 system connects to your car stereo screen/display and stereo, and adds CarPlay and Android Auto on top of the already existing functionality. All existing factory functions will remain the same and fully accessible. This includes the yellow lines that appear on the backup camera video when you reverse and steer.
It fully integrates with the Mark Levinson audio and you will get high quality sound through your car stereo system. The side cameras work as they always do with the OEM system. No factory functions are disabled with the connection of GROM VLine VL2 system for CarPlay and Android Auto.
So does mine even though I got the email saying the update is ready to be installed. I can't say I've had the best experience with using vline the past yr for the money. My Bluetooth cuts out frequently when using android auto but it's perfect with my iPhone.
Mine went fine on a Lexus RX400H but be aware that you will have to install everything again. All apps (including Gapps), all accounts etc., etc. And Android 12 has changed permissions on certain music players so the one I used to use cannot play from the memory card. The whole thing has taken about an hour so far on a 2Gb connection but the actual update was only about 15 minutes. Later.......I used Agama as a skin but it just won't behave now and fills the whole screen making it impossible to change apps as the menu bar is hidden from the side of the screen. I'll keep working on it but for now I've resorted to the standard Vline home screen.
Appreciate the info I use Agama car launcher also so I think I refrain from updating for a while. If you do find a fix please update your post . Cheers
My screen is all blurry 🤣 I should of have waited. I only had this unit for 7 months and. Now stuck in android recovery mode. Tried a mouse and I’m not able to click on any. Command. I don’t have a keyboard 😒 Before the upgrade. Haven’t had any issues at all and had Gapps installed before the update. Makes me wonder if it got corrupted because another person states that they’re having trouble with running Gapps on the new android 12.
Warning to anyone who is watching this, I followed this guide and triple checked version number before starting the upgrade. My VL2 is now completely bricked and says data may be corrupted. AVOID THIS UPDATE FOR NOW. Edit: Plugging in a keyboard and pressing down + enter allowed me to reset the system and is working now. Trying to install gapps gets me stuck in a boot loop where I had to use the same solution, so I'm going to keep gapps uninstalled for now.
Installed fine, but having issues staying connected to Bluetooth. Stayed connected after initiating Android Auto. Thanks for the update and thanks for the great tech support. I appreciate y'all
Android 12 supports the latest apps that might not available for Android 8 Better support for external devices for advanced users (USB audio, LTE modems) Separate video out for rear seat displays (HDMI OUT) More polished native Android UI
I have a 2012 Odyssey Touring with this exact factory stereo. I purchased the VLite version and I followed these instructions but cannot get the device to display. Which button on the factory radio do I press to get the Vlite device to show up? Customer service is telling me the CD changer button which was not an option for my car. The instructions say Aux, but it just cycles through and only ever shows the factory navigation. These install instructions are fantastic, but you left out how to switch to the device. Thanks.
You need to press AUX button to get to the VLite mode of your stereo. You might need to press the AUX a few times. Here is the link to the install guide: gromaudio.com/docs/vline_manuals/hon2m/hon2m-vline-install-manual-web.pdf If you will keep experiencing the issues, please contact our technical team at gromaudio.com/support.html We will help!
Important during the upgrade process: Ensure a solid Wi-Fi connection (Support app → Wi-Fi). Ensure your car's battery will not discharge during the upgrade process. Ensure that you update the firmware to the latest version (3.83.0.0) before attempting to upgrade to Android 12 (Support → VLine Update).
The VLine VL2 has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and also the stand-alone Android System. In addition to the CarPlay and Android Auto, you can also run the apps on the system itself, by downloading them from Google Play store. VLite VT2 is for CarPlay and Android Auto only. Thanks, I just replaced my dashboard, and I tried to assemble back. I was bad because I couldn't find any wire match on the black space of my radio😅 and it is hot on texas 2 pm
Are those center consoles interchangeable ? I have 2016 base model does it have the extra wires in the harness to plug into a nav screen or dual screen center console or would that need wiring ?
@@gromaudio thanks for getting back to me and thanks for the info the reason is because there’s a dual screen near me for a steal lol that would be nice if I could plug it right in but we’ll see
Yes you can. You will need to use the USB retention cable for Lexus vehicles, available here: gromaudio.com/store/vline_accessories/cable-c-vtoyusb.html
Can the Vline VL2 be set to go directly to Apple Carplay after hitting Disc/AUX button without going to the Android interface first and having to select Carplay on the Android home screen?
Yes, it will connect automatically to CarPlay and CarPlay will pop-up once you enter the vehicle. You will need to do the initial connection one time, and after that everything will work automatically.
Yes it works for 2010 IS250 if the stereo has factory navigation. Here is what is compatible with 2010 IS250 stereo: gromaudio.com/store/all-lex6_.html
We do not list it as compatible. If the stereo is the same, technically, it should work, but we cannot guarantee. You can send us a photo of your stereo while it is playing in FM mode, to support at gromaudio.com We can take a look.
@@gromaudio I'm looking to import one to the UK, I will find photos of the stereo on the radio from Japanese auction/dealer sites and send over. Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, it works as long as the stereo has a Sensus Connect 7-inch screen and an Internet/Globe button. Please check here: gromaudio.com/store/all-volsc.html
