Just after 9.00 you are approaching a staggered junction and seeing a car to your nearside with the driver waiting for you to pass you commented on looking at the drivers eyes watching you and presumed all was ok and safe. Not so unfortunately. No advice in any safety handbook says that to you can rely on spotting someone looking in your direction and presume that you are being seen. There are many other signs that you could look for but that is not one of them .. A dangerous practise to assume one has been seen. After that you mention a nice left hander [ you are obviously aware of the road ahead ] and one can hear that you are accelerating through it to the end rather than maintaining a constant throttle. So your leaving speed was greater than your entry speed. You carried that speed over the bridge only to be confronted by a car waiting at an entry on your nearside and whooops! fortunately it did not enter your road otherwise you would have been in all sorts of trouble.
At 8.00 you were presumably still on the A49 ( with I presume a 60 mph speed limit ) but you were only some 60/70 ft behind the car in front and at 60 mph. and as you said they were maintaining the speed limit you should have been some 240 ft behind them if in the following position.
Nice ride but about 5.00 you stated that one would fall back into the following position yet the distance you remained in was about 40/50 ft behind that car and at a speed of say 40 mph you should have been about 120ft. behind it and if doing say 50 mph. one should have been at least 175 ft behind. You then overtook it and pulled in between that car and another in front and again you were only some 40 ft behind it. None of the distances that you gave were safe at all.. The same thing happened right at the beginning whilst following another car. It appears you have a problem knowing the difference between the safe stopping distance and the following on distances and the overtaking distance. At one point you were following close behind another car and decided to overtake but instead of moving out first to enable a better view of the road ahead and then accelerating into the overtake you were behind and accelerated first and then swooped or swerved out into the overtake thus making yourself again closer, about 30 ft only behind that car you were overtaking. Those closer positionings could lead you into trouble at any time when you are following others.

Good morning, could you give me more information on how to install the camera, thank you very much.
Motorvelo, it was very kind of you to help these people. May I feature this clip on my channel? If so, do you have any further comment? Thanks for your consideration
Good video. If you watch some of mine you will see the connectivity issues have driven me insane. However I've had the software recall / upgrade on my 2019 gsa a few weeks ago. So far it's been faultless. Also it now shows every number in my phone book. No matter what I did before it would only show from the letter "c" onwards. I now just turn Bluetooth on on my phone. I don't do anything with the bike. Start it up. By the time I've put my gloves on. The phone is connected. I then get on bike & turn my Sena 50s on & it connects. It all just works now. Also. I've had 2 nav 6's. Then I tried a TomTom 550 rider. I now have the Garmin Zumo XT2 & omg what an amazing bit of kit that is. Video to come on my channel about that. Take care dude & enjoy the Adventures.
BMW's can be frustrating, I've had two RT's which are obviously not GS's but suffer have suffered from similar issues:- My first I bought privately and after around 12 months the left hand switch cluster started playing up. I had to replace that myself at a cost of about £275 but other than that, it was ok. I bought my latter one with approx. 800 miles on the clock. I bought a Nav6 brand new. It lasted just over two years then started the dreaded ghosting. I contacted the dealer who submitted a claim to BM and a new one was supplied. That one lasted a year, I contacted Garmin and they replaced it. That one lasted a couple of months. I contacted Garmin and they replaced it. They have told me I am on a list? and when a permanent repair solution is found I will be notified. The exhaust valve seized and new headers were installed so I can't complain about that. Earlier this year I went out on a cold day and had both seat and grips on. I stopped for petrol about 70 miles from home and went to start it, nothing, flat as a fluke. I noticed the electrics were still on so I switched them off and waited a few minutes and luckily, it started. The irony is that my bike is always attached to a Optimate when at home so it shouldn't have been a charge issue. I would've thought that the fancy canbus system would identify when the bike is being started and should isolate the circuits not required to opitimise the starting voltage. Horror stories about shaft failures and the sheer massive weight of the RT persuaded me to buy a Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro.
Really interesting, the GSA is a great bike, I looked at them a lot when it was time for me to change bikes but in the end I bought an old FJR1300 instead, I know, not the same style of bike but I was actually looking for a touring bike, don't ride off-road very much. Can be the occasional dirt road sometimes... I'm a firm believer that the more electronics your motorcycle has, the more things can and will break and become costly. The only thing I need on my motorcycle is ABS and heated grips. Cruise control would be great, but i have ATLAS throttle lock and it works fine for me. Thanks for a honest and great video, ride safe!
I have just bought an XRT. I ride that road every couple of weeks. There is a short cut from the road from Kidsgrove to congleton that misses out congleton and brings you out at the junction where the car pulled out on you. Really bad junction as you have blind bends from both sides
I ride a lovely Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 XCA, it also have all the bells and whistles and I font think I could have a GS 🤪 maybe when You will be selling Yours 😉
LOL I'm a big man (heavy!) on a big bike, though feel the same way. On my 2nd GSA and they're good at everything, great at mile munching in comfort 1 or 2 up, with gear or without and for me, backed by a quality manufacturer and - for the most part! - dealers/retailers.
Well said, so true and epitomises the 'Life your Life' ideals extolled by so many, though lived by so few. I started at 17 on a MTX125 in High-Tech trainers and a rubbish Nolan lid with paneer gives from the local army surplus shop in 1987; those were still the best days, raw and genuinely free, riding with my mates and exploring that feeling of independence😝Get out there and ride, stop making excuses; the world is too full of bikes with too few miles under their wheels, don't add to them!!....
Not wishing to stereotype, but pick-ups seem to appeal to a certain type of individual - although given the attitude of the driver in the clip, he clearly does not indulge in the use of a recreational substance the pungent odour of which seems to disproportionately follow this type of vehicle around. Best to give them a wide berth and not engage with them in either instance.
Currently I mainly ( & happily) ride alone....but this vid useful in explaining the drop off method. Some typed comments here are small minded to say the least. I appreciate this vid - thanks
Did this going downhill towards Evesham, feels a lot more 'special' if you're actually touring on holiday & you get this road open up in front of you. Wasn't expecting it as was meant to be going on the A46 but took a detour into Moreton-In-Marsh & found the A44 back towards Evesham thence M50 / Heads Of The Valley A465 over Wales. Lovely.
You might get away using the Eye bolt for a small tug, but it's not recommended for any real load. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q0HZPuxQLog.html
Thanks for a condensed and informative video. One question: Did you use your horn at all? Am I right in thinking you could have used it at 09:10 and 09:38?
Great video. I look forward to seeing what you get up to with Alby, I also recently took ownership of a 1250 GSA in grey just like yours and I love it. Happy riding
I'm surprised the examiner didn't pull you up for breaching the highway code when at the roundabout @7:11 you went through the lights well before they changed to green. Otherwise it was a very competent ride.
RIp and god bless Pvt Charles F G Adcock ... lovely and fitting tribute and well done both of you for making the journey, he and they must never be forgotten.
Parking in the Zigzags is illegal, that is correct. The rider had not ‘parked’. Look closely that and you will see the orange barrier across the entry to that crossing for pedestrians. The crossing was not in use.
