I honestly love the dark brown color, especially with the color variability between dark and light brown. I'm currently getting into pens myself. That was a great video!
Yes, shading (light to dark) is my favourite ink property. It’s so unique to the fountain pen & ink writing experience; I’ve never found that with other types of pens. Thanks for watching and commenting! And welcome to the rabbit hole that is the fountain pen hobby! Enjoy responsibly, heh… 😅 It can get to be quite the time and money suck. But it’s so much fun!
@@deskofem I have many more to try however currently can recommend the following brown inks: Noodlers Manjiro Natahama Noodlers Polar Brown Monteverde Moonstone Monteverde Brown Sugar Monteverde canyon rust Diamine Saddleback Diamine Dusted Truffle Diamine Expresso Robert Oster Cafe Crema Robert Oster Toffee
@@Volkmannx me too. The swatch shows off the almost purple-ish undertones nicely, but in writing, it’s just not having the same effect. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Interesting method doing swatches - I like. My favorite colors at the moment are dusty rather light browns like Sailor Ink Studio 373 for example. Anyway, thank you!
@@Volkmannx thanks! Thought I’d try it out and see if it worked :) I’ve got to take a look at that Sailor ink. Dusty colours tend to be my favourite in general. Thank you for commenting!
And I meant to say I’ve never tried dominant industry inks. November leaves looks pretty. I may need to try that one. Is it legible or really light in writing?
@@AmberUnfinished in my limited experience with November Leaves, it is very light in writing. I think I found it too light on its own, so I must have mixed it with another ink at the time. November is my birthday month, so I want to love that ink. But I’m a little skeptical that I’ll be able to make it work at this point. We shall see… Dominant Industry has some beautiful inks and bottles. I love these ones for display. Highly recommend Autumn Forest; the hype checks out. :)
I love color explorations like these. Obviously they’re all browns, but nutcracker looks green. I haven’t found a Robert Oster ink that I haven’t enjoyed so I may need to grab a sample of that one. And I have a huge 85 ml bottle of FWP Beaver Dam Brown. If you end up loving it and wanting more let me know and I can send more to you. I need to ink it up myself. I hope you share your results after testing them all in the same pen. Sounds like a great experiment!
@@AmberUnfinished I’m glad to hear you’re excited about this experiment too 😊 thanks for your support! Planning on making more progress videos in this series for sure. Yes, Nutcracker definitely has a solid green sheen to it. I wonder how it will show up in a fountain pen. So far, I have two bottles of Robert Oster, and I’m definitely impressed with both. Quite wet inks - to my surprise. Ooo! Thank you very much for offering your stash! That is super kind of you 💛
Have you tried any other inks with it? I’ve never used troublemaker inks but I’ve heard they’re dry inks. Robert Oster Australis Oak is super wet or a Pilot Iroshizuku ink could totally change the writing experience. It’s a beautiful pen! And the sunshine ☀️ is amazing too.
@@AmberUnfinished yes, Troublemaker inks (especially the ones I have - Kelp Tea, Abalone, Moon River) are very dry. I’ve tried a range of inks with this pen. My last attempt was to see if a dry ink would work better. But alas, I still needed to add some Vanness White Lightning to it in order to enjoyably finish off the ink fill. My next ink ideas were to try out some Pilot Iroshizuku in there, which I may still try if I get the pen back. But for now, I am happy to let my sister play around with it and to have a break from it myself. It is such a fun aesthetic for a pen - that’s what drew me to it in the first place! And yes, the sunshine was glorious that day! 💛 Thanks for commenting! :)
@@UrbanOasis7 hehe, thanks, Momma! 💛 This is the first time I’ve ever done a talking ‘face-to-face with the camera’ video and actually posted it. I’ll probably do a mix of both in the future :)
Thank you for sharing your lineup. I like the ink mix in the Saffron TWSBI, it looks great. I have every brand that you have in your lineup, but in different color ways. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you! I think so too - the colours are still making me very happy to bring my pens out and write. :) Pilot Iroshizuku Ajisai especially right now.
Gorgeous!! I’ve been wanting to try lavender black and you sold me!! So glad to hear it’s not dry. And I loveee your yellow/orange combo. So bright and happy!
Hi, Elyse! Happy to see you here; I like watching your videos! :) Lavender Black is definitely not a wet ink, but I find that my Pelikan has a fairly average flow and this ink works great in it. The Troublemaker inks I have to put in wetter-flowing pens for sure - either that, or add some White Lightning. But Lavender Black is closer to average than dry flow, I’d say. Thanks for commenting! It’s really fun to finally put videos out for other people to follow along with my fountain pen journey.
