Laugh along with "Disney Dan" Becker as he explores the silly world of costume characters, theatre, theme parks, parades and more in his DIStory series! Dan Histories! DISTORY DAN!
UGH... popcorn buckets... the epidemic of stupidity with money. I mean, Disney knows You better than anyone. YOU (not me) will buy this thing no matter the price I bet... 10 cents or less of plastic and a few more for colorway costs.... yea.... and you're paying HOW MUCH FOR THEM? ROFLMAO. A fool and their money.
Fox World Dubai was actually cancelled about a year before the Disney buyout due to financial issues. Still sad about it though. That park was supposed to have a land based on one of my favourite movies, The Book of Life.
Now I really want that Alien costume you're wearing... That Alien play was most impressive and it took place very close to wear I used to live at the time. IMHO the Disney-Fox merger should NEVER have been allowed to happen. Monopolies and consolidations need to be cracked down on. Those Alien attractions in Malaysia and Dubai had so much potential, only to be forced to throw it all away? What a waste of time and effort.
The biggest lost for us malaysian, alien immersive theme land ... before disney turn the theme park ( skyworlds now ) into " family friendly " images..... ( planet of the apes not soo family friendly ) 😅
I loved Alien Encounter and Great Movie Ride. One of my favorite GMR memories is getting stuck in the Nostromo and being able to read some of the secret messages that the Imagineers left on the computer screens as Easter Eggs.
My first exposure to Alien was during my first remembered visit to a Disney park. Yuppity, 5yo Philly didn't know what to expect from a ride called The Great Movie Ride lol
Disney, the only way I’ll ever forgive you for shutting down Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom is by opening an Alien attraction in Tomorrowland. It’s the only way! And throw in a Predator while you’re at it, cuz why not?
When I was little, I'd squeeze my eyes shut and block my ears every time we went through the Alien section of the Great Movie Ride because that ceiling jumpscare was just TOO MUCH for a kid 😂 Thanks, mom and dad! That and animatronic dinosaurs. I was a teenager and almost cried just waiting in line for that ride.
Tangentially connected, my parents started collecting pinball machines in the 90’s and it included a Space Invaders pinball machine from 1980. While it had the sounds from the video game, all the art all over it was CLEARLY Geiger Alien designs. Don’t remember if it was actual Geiger art or just “inspired by” knockoffs.
Jeffry Combs (to rhyme with rooms), was Herbert West in the Re-Animator films long before he was in Star Trek. Although he probably reached a far wider audience playing several different roles across the 90's/00's Trek series. Brilliant actor, hugely underrated and a really nice bloke to boot! If you've not see the Re-Animator films, do your eyeballs a favour and seek them out, they're fan-smeging-tastic!
As a 90's kid, I can honestly say that I am VERY OK never seeing Alien in Disney parks again. I don't care how long it's been, the terror NEVER leaves you 👀
Hey Mr. Disney Dan can you do a Evolution of The Predator Costumes and Theme Parks video that's my favorite sci-fi monster movie character of all time.#ThePredator
I love the story of those high schoolers putting on their own play of Alien and how all their hard work was rightfully recognized by the world. It’s so wholesome that Sigourney Weaver took the time to see it and show her support. It wasn’t touched on in the video but even Adam Savage went out to visit them and geeked over their incredible craftsmanship. I’m sure those students will never forget those memories
I went to Horror Nights in 2014 and it is still by far my most favorite house ever made. It was well themed, the costumes are well done, and the scares were timed perfectly.
