I`ve had my 8 kappa since new 1990 ? What makes the 9 & 8 kappa so hard to drive at volume is the drop to near 3/4 ohm, in heavy bass notes. They need power like what you have to drive them.

I have a set of the mordaunt short classic 40 (its basically the same but the 40 is a bit longer and got an extra woofer on both speakers and they sound awesome! With the highs and the lows! They are holding up very well.

I have a pair of these, as well as a pair of original Model 3s. I have always loved how these old acoustic suspension speakers sound. Yes, take off the grilles and they are butt ugly, but damn do they sound so good! Tight deep bass and bright clear highs. They are a perfect match for my vintage Pioneer SX780.
