This can do it. The Harmonizer section is fantastic. This demo just shows the cool verbs. This is probably the best device you will find for creating your back up vocals.
nowadays they don't do such brilliant things anymore, they feed us with pseudo sounds that don't even reach the heels of modules that were made 20 or more years ago
Seeing "Massive Pad"on the JD-990 display, there was a third-party performance of the same (very apt) name from cunka (of "Mastering V.A.S.T." forum fame) on the Wavestation. If you ever do a video with third-party performances, this definitely has to be included.
Hi there do you still own this unit? If so, have you had any experience with using Vsig over Windows 10? I've found one for a decent price but really want to know if Vsig works still with these older units. I really appreciate it, thanks :)
@@i-78east93 Ah that's okay! Thank you very much for getting back to me. Great video by the way, I must have watched it 10 or so times drooling over it hahaha
Sounds gorgeous but used market buyers just be aware. The DSP series [4000, 7000, 7500, Orville] are unrepairable. Eventide dropped any support and is not offering spare parts of any kind or even a downloadable back up of the rom. The data holding cells in the Mach CMOS ICs in these devices wearing off over time and will render these models unusable, unfortunately. Big gamble & No need [IMO] to pay £2000+ asking price for any of the DSP Series
I bought a unit in mint condition that needed the new CMOS IC replaced and had zero trouble finding several of them. Took about 15 mins of searching on line, ordered two of them, up and running just fine.
@@sheilasmith8844 Finding NOS Mach IC's is not a problem. It's a problem if the defective IC is the one that holds a part of the OS. Eventide does not provide any support
Ahh! But there is one pad type sound which remains unique unto itself. From the Roland D-50... “Fantasia!” That “is” the signature Roland sound, and I’m mainly a Korg guy!😊
This video is incomplete. He is not using full potential of this device!!!! Jodie Foster in 1997 used this model to translate an alien language. Go search Contact movie.
JD-990 patches here won! WS excells in great choir/voxy/breathy pads and wavesquences, JD wins for epic analog string & analog in general emulation and soundtrack types as well. Got to try put my JD+WS EX+D50+k5000s back to back one day ;)
Awesome tracks, ver interesting comments and observations. I think that this track clearly reflects my own think and feeling about Roland JV-1080, that amazing ambient - mistery sound ..
@@i-78east93 have you compared this with newer offerings from Eventide? Do you know what the differences are? I've never played with an Orville, an Eclipse, or anything like that; and I don't know how they stack up against my 4000.
@@pandable8657 No unfortunately I haven't. Would be great to get to compare the 4000 side by side with one of the newer boxes. My understanding of the differences is that the amount of DSP power (and AD/DA converter quality) goes up with every generation. Orville and the H8000 are multi-channel boxes (8 channels I believe). The Eclipse is more limited than the harmonizers in the sense that it doesn't support VSig (I have never used VSig myself, but it opens up the possibility of buying e.g. some highly acclaimed 3rd party program sets). If I was to get another harmonizer, it would probably be the 7600 as it is the last successor of the 4000, but just like the 4000, the 7600 is not that easy to find 2nd hand. I know that many people think that nowadays everything can be replaced with plugins, but to me the 4000 is a special box to have as it was Eventide's flagship product after a long period success with the H3000 and it is the origin of these legendary presets.
I bought their Anthology XI collection and some of the new H9 vsts and they're pretty amazing. Obviously not quite the rich depth of the hardware, but still pretty wonderful. The H9 algorithms (BlackHole, Crystals) are so easy to use.
