Helensburgh Central is near where my Nana and Papa used to live and that's where I used to visit this station very rarely when I was in Helensburgh for the day :)
As the announcement says 'please have your tickets ready for inspection', the wretched and ugly gates at Waverley can be got rid of. They just delay everyone and if you are carrying a large bag they hold you up. You can't carry a hot drink to the train without putting it down to put ticket through the reader. If the barriers were removed sales of food and drink on the concourse would go up! Much better to have the inspection on the train as in 'open station' days and as happens on most of the Strathclyde electric network.
Tell me about it Mr M!! Worse thing is once you’ve had a few you just think “ahhh sod it” don’t you and just pay it! I daren’t say how much we spend that night!
@@alanmorr3635 - or could be more than 40 stops from Edinburgh Waverley to Helensburgh Central, it doesn't call at Anniesland, Westerton, Drumchapel, Drumry or Singer.
At least it was a daytime service-During the daytime Helensburgh trains are flyers between Hyndland and Dalmuir- otherwise in the evenings and Sundays they are ALL stoppers it would have also stopped at Jordanhill, Scotstounhill, Garscadden, Yoker and Clydebank!!!! Making it 34 stops!
