looking back at this is truly insane, oh how thrilling it would have been to see one of those cars in real life! also the people driving them a bunch of legends!
WOW, what a fascinating journey!! Thanks for sharing all this detail.. OMGosh, 8 hours sleep in 4 nights? That's cruelty to innocent humans, there should be a law against it.. still can't believe a rally champion like Roger Clarke takes a rookie Navigator, how did that happen? Absolutely no criticism of the rookie Navigator, I would have been 💩'ing my pants were I in his shoes!!.. WELL DONE Chris, for your first rally, that was epic☀🚀
This is the greatest rally channel on RU-vid, thank you so much for preserving this stuff. Seeing Bernardini reminds me I used to have an English language highlights package from the 1996 Monte taped off Eurosport (non-WRC for Group A like the RAC that season), I hope someone else has that somewhere as it's seemingly been lost to history.
Remember C996 LCA metro in 1986 on national breakdown, david Lewellyn asked me if i knew anywhere him & phil short could set thier light pod up. I took them to a local wooded area where i lived near bradford, i had a std mg metro at the time and it still feels like yesterday 😊
I met Murray once. Had a short chat over a drink. Wonderful man. Totally genuine, humble and hard working. Utterly enthusiastic about Motorsport!! My work has led me to meet a few dozen famous folk. I think Murray was the 'nicest' of them all, IMHO. Not that I'm Judge, just my personal impression.
It was great that the late John Price went on to campaign the Metro 6R4 , in many rally championships after they were banned from the world stage at the end of 1986!
