Nice reaction Brian! My appreciation for Savatage has grown over the past few years. I agree with your observation that their music is programmatic and meant to convey a message and performance.
This one is gonna be a long comment, cuz im indonesian 🤣 Economic conquest is just the beginning. Later on, the conquest of physical is inevitable. Nobody can resist the desire to conquer physically. You can just hold the desire for the longest. Well, we indonesian have eye-witnessed it first hand from the dutch. At the beginning they only "established the trade company". Later on they tried to colonize us. Oh, the mongol had conquered japan, right? (atleast part of it) So, it shouldnt be an excuse for them to lose (not even gaining a little part of jawa island). And i think, sending 20k man to "punish" somebody is not underestimating action. Overall, i thought the content from that channel was pretty much reliable. But on the later videos, i noticed the content from that channel was so much heavily bias. Which makes it questioning the reliability of this one video. Perhaps, i need to re read my middle school history book. Well, i would rather ask the "wise man" tho. Or cultural figure. They are pretty good at gathering traditional information. I mean, the dutch was here for the longest. The God knows what they had corrupted. Our history, original culture, etc. I dont even know who my great great great grandpa was. There is no such record. And you are right bro. The islands are difficult to conquer. Actually, i would admit that the dutch colonized us for 300 years is such gimmick. Cuz, they didnt colonized the whole "country" for 300 years. But rather an attempt to colonized the whole area in 300 years. It was just around the ww1, they were archiving their dream. For then later on, the japanese took it from the dutch within couple months i guess? So, if you ask me of which conquest is the most impressive. I would say the japanese "blitzkrieg" is the most impressive and fascinating. Finally, why they didnt choose the source from "indonesia"? Cuz, indonesia is the biggest majority muslim country, if not the 2nd. And that channel has problem with islam. As evidence, they rather refer the "middle east" to be the islamic area/world rather than arab world. Even tho in 7th century when islam was just beginning. We dont refer the great britain empire to be christian empire, do we? We dont refer the viking raid to be the pagan raid, either. Just look at their "slavic trade" video. Thats heavily bias.
I voted and commented on the poll as well, but thought I'd repeat it here: I've listened to all 5 videos (as everybody who votes should tbh). I am a Home Fry so I love that version best but all of them were really close. I think I like the one from Foxes and Fossils second best. But, to be fair, if Crosby, Stills and Nash could record the song again with the technology we have now it might very well may be my (second?) favorite version then.

That wasn't a private event. They were singing on the patio of a taco shop. Mostly friends and family in attendance. These videos were posted for Tim's brother to view. Now their videos have been viewed almost 110 million times. If you are a CSN fan take a look at their cover of Suite Judy Blue Eyes. It was the first song they performed at their first show together. It is by far the best cover of that song on RU-vid and it is live.
Absolute maestros. I got a chance to watch them live last day and they are as good as ever or even better live. And they also played new material and I have never been a happier man.
I grew up listening to Crosby, Stills & Nash & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. This song is full of alliterations. Home Free more than does justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. A true masterpiece! I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.
