Answer to the headline is NO! The manufacturers have spent millions developing and researching a paint and clear coat finish. What use is a nano thick ceramic overcoat that lasts only between 1 to 3 years that claims to prevent polishing swirls which are usually only visible under bright light and with a magnifying lens! I can understand if you want to brag up the car at exhibitions but for the normal motorists good old car wax is just fine!
Thanks for this. I've put a deposit down for a new car that will be delivered next year. I was rushed at the dealership with their extended warranties and protection packages. It sounded good at the time but I've since been researching into each item they offer and it no longer sounds worth it at all. Thousands of dollars for items that I won't even need and/or not know about how it's applied. I will cancel the protection plan and go with a local detailing shop. Thanks again!
Awesome, what car have you got on order? We completely agree. Most of the time you will overpay for underwhelming performance with the dealership, whereas if you go with a reputable shop you will get amazing performance for generally a better price! I tell potential clients to either spend their money with a good shop or don't do it at all.
@@DeluxeDetail Ioniq 5. Long wait but hopefully by then interest rates are lower. The dealership finance manager hasn't been returning my calls lol. Likely realizes I want to back out of the add ons.
@@tyson6808 Beautiful car! Yeah wait times are annoying at the moment. I’m waiting 10-12 months for a new Corolla Cross Hybrid. How long is the wait on an Ioniq5? Yeah they’re good at avoiding you when it suits them! Just send them a nice email declining all protection add ons and ask for them to remove it from your contract. Cc your sales person in and I’m sure they’ll be on the phone quick. 😂
@@DeluxeDetail Corolla Crosses are really nice! Dealership estimates between 12 and 18 months here in Ontario. Pretty rough. Two years left on our CRV lease so should work out fine.
Yeah we got the Atmos (top spec) with moon roof, heated seats, digital dash etc so it’s something to look forward to! 12-18 months is a bit long but sadly it’s just the way for anything good these days. At least it works in with your current lease and who knows there might be some nice updates to a newer model year for you!
White is generally a harder paint colour than red which means it can be stronger against things like waterspotting, etchings etc. But the Tesla red is a very nice colour and would be well worth it. It would just take a bit of care and attention to keep looking really nice. A quality ceramic coating would help do just that!
Modern clearcoat on will have lifespan of 15-20 years before they start to fail and fade, Getting a ceramic coating for a new car will just add another couple of years extra to the clearcoat lifespan, if you plan to keep the car for more then 1o years, it could have some benefit, but if you plan just keep your car for under 10 years, ceramic coating is a waste of money!!
You begin to reap the benefits immediately. Maintenance is cut in half. Your vehicle stays cleaner for longer, creating less stress and saving time. Your car looks amazing without having to layer waxes and sealants constantly etc.
Great question Pat! It is not a requirement, but it is highly recommended. We include a single stage machine polish in all of our packages prior to coating. You want to make sure you clean up the paint and remove as many defects as possible before locking that in with a ceramic coating.
@Deluxe Detail yeah, entry formentor has a 1.5l 1458bhp engine, you then get a 2.0 190bhp, 2.0 245 bhp, 2.0 310 bhp and at the top is a 2.5 400 bhp, then their is also a view hybrid versions

Very well said Dan. I requested the dealership do not wash my car during the pre-delivery inspection and keep all the protective films on when I picked it up, so they could not add any swirl marks on by their rough wash 😆 Peeled all the films by myself and did a proper 2 buckets wash which is very satisfying. By the way, I sent an enquiry on the website asking for a quote for ceramic coating (Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra) a brand new Kia Stinger, and looking forward to hear from you soon 🙂

How long does the ceramic coating last? I like the idea but at over $1000 (dealers up to 2k) i would like to think once is enough or at the very least, the length of a 5 year lease.

in reality they could last up to 9 years, if u mantain them, it mean ceramic boost every feew months......even so, u will get scratches and if u polish u will have to pay 1k again
@@Zhenkai1 it in no way adds to the value ion the vehicle, and unless you are prepared to keep up with the ongoing maintenance of the coating, its a waste of money that will add zero to the value of the vehicle when you come to sell it.
Ongoing maintenance is just washing it regularly...which if you care for your car you would do anyway. A car that isn't covered in etchings, water marks, wash marks etc certainly presents better for sale than one that's riddled with them. You perform a 'pre sale' detail before selling a car because it literally increases it's value due to the fact it restores it to a better condition. A ceramic coating package which includes machine polishing will erase years of damage from the paint, protect it with a durable layer than the next owner can enjoy and give it a gloss that's even better than straight off the showroom floor. If there is no value in it then why are hundreds of people bringing us their cars for coatings every year? The only way you would not see value would be if you've paid top dollar for a shitty coating. Which is somewhat of a problem in our industry (*cough* dealerships *cough*).
