Welcome to my channel! More often than not, the theme of the day will be upcycling, knitting, writing and other creative outbursts. But now and then the occasional vlog will appear, and perhaps in the long run even a video or two on a bus or van conversion (I dream of building an offroad RV-kind of bus or similar).
I'm in MD, (east coast USA) we are in another heatwave, somewhere around 101 and then higher with the heat index. Weather talk done! :) You are so talented. I love the yellow!
Good heavens! I'm pretty sure I would simply melt into a puddle in such temperatures. I really hope you get some cooler weather soon. 🙂 And thank you very much, that is so kind of you! ❤
The dress is stunning and fits so beautifully to the body you're living in. I particularly love how the skirt is gathered to the shirred bodice! Also, your darts in the tincan jumper make an exquisite fit!❤
?? Just curious, as I am very new to dyeing yarn, but when you scatter citric acid in the pan and then lay your wet yarn in top of it, won’t that get soaked into the yarn and that area take up more dye?
Your shawl is absolutely lovely. I am a big fan of yellow. And the dress is a learning process - I personally hate sewing knit fabric . You can get some of that tubular knitted fabric that is used for cuffs and collars. That will pull the neck in a bit for you and make it lie flatter for you. Love your work !
It looks really cute on you. The only thing I’d change is to topstitch the pockets in place so they don’t add extra bulk at the hip. And maybe shorten the sleeves. The current length accentuates the width at hips but shorter would accentuate your narrow waist. If you want to redo the neckline, just carefully trim it off. That .5 cm won’t make much difference if you are adding a wider binding anyway. Then snug up the binding. Jalie patterns has an excellent method for neckline bindings and you don’t have to buy the pattern to see the instructions. Well done! I love the shawl too! The bright yellow is yummy ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for all the tips! The pockets are topstitched at the opening, and actually stay pretty well in place. Why it is bulky is because I changed the line of the silhouette and the pockets sits in the same line on the pattern as my width extension. That's why they lay kind of funky. I won't make any changes in this particular dress, but there will be other, similar patterns in the future where I will take the lessons from this project into account for sure. Thank you so much for all your thoughts on the project, I will absolutely incorporate them in future projects! 🙂❤
Your shawl is gorgeous, Well done!!! And it draws the attention up your lovely face 🥰 With the pockets, have you thought about taking them out and putting pockets on the front, but put the stripe on an angle? Does that make sense? ( i have a rather large tummy and thighs, and cant wear anything with side pockets)
Thank you, that is so sweet of you! ❤ I think that is a lovely idea about the pockets, I might just do that the next time I make a pattern like this. I have to say though that I'm loving this dress more and more each day, and I have pretty much been living in it since I made it. So I'm just going to leave this one as is, but I do have the intention to make more dresses similar to this one, and I really love your idea about the pockets! I will for sure make a dress with pockets like that. Thank you!
@anilovecreations it did look very nice once you put the darts in. They made such a difference❤️ and I loved the length of your sleeves. And you have actually inspired me to get the same pattern and make one for myself. :) 😀
@@Keturah53 Oh, how exciting! I hope yours turn out as comfortable as mine is. 🙂I'm so happy I could inspire you, that's such a huge compliment. Thank you! ♥
I am plus sized too. And a tip i learned for style is to accentuate your positive instead of hiding what you are self concious of. I used to wear shapeless tunics to cover up but i changed to fit and flare dresses because my top part is the best. I feel much better in those even though im heavier than i have ever been.
This is so important! Because that is exactly what we all should think. The mere concept that we should hide our bodies because they are not following a standard that is impossible for the majority of the people on this earth to live up to, is just crazy. And it is a type of crazy I'd like to do my part in getting rid of. It isn't our bodies that need to change in order to fit into what hangs on the clothes rack in the fast fashion industry, it is the clothes that should be adjusted to the bodies we have. So yeay for accentuating what we love about ourselves, and no more hiding of our strong, capable bodies that carry us through life! 👏💪❤
This is so helpful...this is the first time I've seen anyone add more than like .000523 cm LOL, I've messed up many potential garments because of this LOLLLL
I know, right?? You NEVER see anyone making the really big adjustments, so I figured I'd give it a go just to show that it can be done. It didn't turn out perfect, but it's a lot better than if I hadn't made any adjustments at all. I'm happy it was helpful! 🙂
I'm so sorry I haven't replied to your comment! I didn't get a notification, for some reason. But to answer your question: I do sell my yarns! The yarns from this series will however mostly go into upcoming projects for RU-vid, I think. Some of them might find their way into the webshop eventually though.
Hi there new subscriber, your video popped up on my list, you did well. It is hard to film it all at the best of times and try not get into the shot so I think you did well. Please come by and say hi :)
Thank you! It is tricky for sure. :) I just took a really quick look at your channel, and it is for sure right up my alley so I subscribed to your channel as well! Looking forward to checking out your content more, once I'm done with my workload for the day. :)
@@anilovecreations naww thank you 😊 i have a few differwnt things you may enjoy watching and learning. And this youtube bizz takes a long time to get used to and grow.
Have been watching your 2020 Vlogmas. It is now mid summer 2024, but I must say I very much enjoyed your Vlogmas! And what a lovely sister you seem to have!
In this video I used Pro Chemical & Dye in 'Sky blue' and Jacquard Acid Dyes in 'Fire red'. For citric acid you can use any household citric acid from your local grocery store, or order online. All colors and brands used will always be listed in the video description below each video. 🙂
Hello! I have just started watching your videos today and I'm really enjoying the dyeing videos. I was wondering. When you are moving the yarn from the soaking bath into the tub on the stove, why don't you use the soaking water to heat up rather then getting all fresh water like you've done.
Hi! That is an excellent question! Usually I will reuse the soaking water for soaking another batch, but for these videos I mostly did not simply out of habit. At the same time water usage is something that I am interested in limiting, and this would of course be an excellent way to do so. So thank you for pointing that out to me, I will absolutely keep that in mind going forward! Because there is really no reason why I could not reuse that water, you are absolutely correct about that. 🙂
@@JDiamondW1 I'm happy you are enjoying them! And yes, there will be more. The entire series is already recorded, so there will be 20 episodes of yarn dyeing airing during the summer and early fall. I am also working on other projects at the moment, that I also hope will be interesting, fun and hopefully inspiring. So there will be quite a few videos posted on the channel this year.
I'm happy to hear that! I haven't worked with RIT dyes, but from what I understand it is a liquid concentrate that you dilute in water. If so, it should absolutely be possible to use it for dyeing multicolored yarn as well. You just dilute the colors in a cup/container/measuring cup and pour it on the yarn. Just make sure you end up with enough fluid in the pan for all the yarn to be wet, and preferably that you have a little bit of fluids in the pan before turning on the stove, or you might burn the yarn. For the rest of the process - soaking, using citric acid etc - you follow the instructions for the RIT dye instead. Since I haven't worked with RIT dyes before, I can not guarantee the result of using their dyes this way, but again - I believe it should work. My tip would be to get some inexpensive, commercial yarn of the same quality as the yarn you intend to dye, and do a few tests to see what results you are getting and if this method works well for the project you have in mind. Good luck and have fun! 🙂
Hello! I purchased it from a Swedish supplier that I use, and you need to have a Swedish business to be able to register with them. I am thinking about carrying them in my webshop in the future though, provided people are interested. 🙂
@@anilovecreations I really feel for you as I also have been going through depression, no support base but am blessed in having work to return to after 6 months off. The work situation is not good but it pays the bills so I am grateful. May blessings abundant find you in everything you do
Thank you! I wish the same for you, and I hope the work situation will improve, or that you find a better job where you can truly thrive and be well. All the best to you! <3
If I claimed that mine always looks like that, that would be about as far from the truth as one gets, haha. But I guess that's the case for many of us - our creativity doesn't fit in square boxes and tidy places, and a bit of a creative mess is what really gets things going. :-D
By the way ageism is not an issue in Canada, as in Sweden, companies recognize that knowledge and skill are acquired over time and you cannot put a price tag on that...so people are choosing to work longer or retiring and starting their own businesses. Also some conti nue to work for financial reasons...
Oh, I am SO HAPPY to hear that! I find the issues in Sweden to be absolutely ridiculus. I have no intention to retire at all, but find that I am already out of the loop over here, because of my age. And I'm planning on working full time at least until 75, and part time until I reach three digits. So finding that I'm not hireable before even hitting 50 is just insane. And it's not like I'm not qualified for anything either, on the contrary - and still, I get passed over by younger people (usually men) all the time. Some of it is of course that I have been working a long time in a male dominated business, and have refused to conform to being a pretty face behind a desk, but it is still ridiculus to throw away my skills in order to hire a 25-yr old guy who has no experience at all. At least in my opinion. And this is a very big reason for why I am planning on leaving Sweden, and to bring my business, my skills and my tax money somewhere where it is more welcome. (Can you tell I'm VERY annoyed about the whole thing, haha?)
Honestly I have the feeling that this may not be the best time for you to move...you have undergone enormous changes and moving is the most stressful of life events... also it takes a lot of money...and immigrating requires you be able to financially support yourself as a requirement for landed immigrant status...I am Canadian.I would suggest you visit North America before you make a final decision..talk to Canadian or American embassies in Sweden and find out what the current immigration requirements are...it is challenging at best and impossible without money behind you..
Hi Andrea :) I realize I was unclear on the timeline for this, my bad! This is not something I plan on doing now, it is on my 2-5 year plan to leave Sweden, and one of my main reasons is that my business needs time to grow, and also that I want to have the financial freedom to move anywhere I want from a money-point-of-view. :) Will definitely also visit before moving, but would love recommendations on cities and places, so that I can visit them first. Where in Canada are you from? The immigration requirements for both Canada and the US are no problem, I know what is needed and once my business is up and running as I want it to, I will be eligible for both. :) So in short, what I am really looking for are recommendations on cities and places that has the creative entrepreneural vibe that I would like to have for myself and my business, and where my business then can continue to grow, and I can hire local talent to meet my clients needs. :)
That makes me feel better! I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia..across from Vancouver and in a small fishing village called Cowichan Bay.Im about half way btwn Victoria and Nanaimo..in the Cowichan Valley...the folks who come here are drawn by its more temperate climate, and laid back esthetic. There is a very large and active community of artisans all over the Island...who are entrepreneurial . I would suggest you look at smaller communities like the Island or Eastern Canada such as the Maritimes as there are more artisan communities.. Large cities like Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto ,Calgary are more expensive ....
@@andrealandsburg8882 Thank you! I will for sure add them to my list, it sounds very much like places that I'd be happy living and working in. I'm not really a city girl, and I currently live 40 minutes away from one of the larger cities in Sweden, in the country side. To me that is absolutely ideal, and it would be awesome if I could find somewhere to live in the future, that is also not in a large city, but somewhere between half and hour to an hour away from one. :)
Hi from Canada! I just found your channel (suggested by YT based on my interests) and am looking forward to following your Vlogtober adventures. I have a mountain of socks that need repairs as well - I've been hoping to find an old wooden darning egg or mushroom in a thrift store, but no luck so far. I will probably have to improvise (maybe I can find an egg shaped smooth stone). ;)
Hi Sonya! Welcome! I hope you find something that works. I usually wear down mine so much I just knit in a new piece of fabric over the hole, haha. But there are times when a darning egg would be good, so perhaps I should go on an egg hunt as well. :-D
I know that I could buy a new one, but I really want an old one that has history and patina! Besides, I love snooping through second hand stores, it's like a treasure hunt. :)
@@sonyatiltmann9260 Me too! A friend of mine found a new to both of us second hand shop the day before yesterday with all kinds of vintage sewing patterns, and I can't wait to go there. :-D
