Problem with goretex trainers is it’s likely to get water in the top by the ankle like any trainer and goretex won’t let the water out, which you probably know now 😉
hello , love your video. I watched a lot off video's over west highland way, but yours is the first with a realy goor vieuw of the track. the hights and lows of the path are very good filmed. i am 64 and i want to walk it next may 2024. thanks for beautifull material to study.
Hiya…Loving your vlogs… natural, down to earth and honest. Came across your channel following my trip with my daughter last week doing WHW. No rain at all until ascending out of Kinlochleven to pitch for the night. Sunshine all the way to Fort. William. Challenging at the other end of weather spectrum .. carrying additional weight with water. Anyhow utterly breathtaking nonetheless. Your vlog has wetted my appetite to do Cumbria way next year. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Such kind words, thank you Gerry. Glad you enjoyed the WHW and congrats for getting it done. Cumbria way was also lovely, I need to get the final episode uploaded but delayed due to a week in Somerset. No more annual leave left for us now this year so 2024 before any further long distance trails but hopefully we'll put up some day Hikes and weekend overnighter wild camps in the peak district which is our nearest National Park to get to. Thanks again for following and good luck with all your adventures 👍
It was me who told you about crossing over the bridge . It was bad enough in the dry so I can only imagine what it was like in wet. I stopped at that campsite. Bit of hike to the showers lol
Haha, yeah thanks for the advice mate, had full intentions of following it, I even remembered in the morning then with everything going on with the weather I forgot like a proper dim wit😂.. And yeah the trek to the showers after 17 miles wasn't something we were up for tbh but we'd had an all day 10hr shower!!
@TinderboxTrail all good I love down to earth videos. And the point about it being like the west highland way . I thought that. Of to do the snowdonia way Next may .
Now that was one wet day! It got you an impressive waterfall - but oh my! The rain! Don’t remember “5-pints” but remember “Milac” from when I was in the “mob” - which was always a treat! 🤔🙄🙈. Wheaties in the morning with “powdered cow” - character building happy days 😉. Well done for Day 3 - that was a toughy. Looking forward to the next instalment and hope it is / was a dry one for you 😊🤞🙏
The torrents running down those Ghylls were amazing and we'll never forget the trudge up and over that fell, not the best weather at all but still produces fine memories 😁👍
You did well to keep your desert wellies on for as long as you did! My marzipan feet would never have lasted as long 😬🙈. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next “day” 😊👍🏻
Haha yes I'm glad sense prevailed at the last minute and I shoved my other shoes in the top of the bag. It would of been nice if I could have done it all, it felt very free but I guess I'll need to strengthen up the ankles to support the extra weight.
Hello again Matt & JoJo. Good to see you on your travels again! Got a bit of catching up to do as have been offline for a while but now I’m back and looking forward to seeing what and where you are this time! Great Cossie in the car oark ❤️. You should leave him a FCTDC flyer for the next time 😉👍🏻
Knew we could rely on you for a check in 😁👍.. Dreams about how good the Cossie was back in the 90's probably best left as a dream... I think a few 21st century upgraded Miatas might just show it the time of day haha
Watching Would-He swim properly made me smile! 😃. Showed the vid to Rubie and explained that’s what she should be doing but she remains unimpressed and went back to sleep after her busy morning chasing pigeons and the elusive squirrel that inhabit the garden 😉. Oh! Last weeks vid - Pembrokeshire Paella - your food always makes me feel hungry 😊
Ruby isn't built for swimming, like I'm not built for running LOL....I don't expect the next weeks food will be quite so appetising as we add water to anything dehydrated😂
Congratulations on completing thirty years ago I don,t think it had an official ending think it was when you hit the main road coming off the path we did carry on into Fort William found a B and B had a meal in what was called McTavish Kitchen good hearty Scottish Fayre a beer or two and next day we climbed up the Ben to top it off 🙂

Wish the Beinglas Campsite been around when we did it after a Pint at the Drovers served by a very Surly Scotsman who obviously did not like us we camped further up the way on land we were not supposed to but needs must and nobody chased us off just had the sound of Trains clanking through the Night
Hi new subscriber here following your walk a friend and I did this thirty years ago so you are bringing back a few memories we wild camped close to the SYH on the banks of the Loch your lunch with Beer looked good we just had Coffee at a Cafe near to the Loch side
I know right, I find it amazing considering most translated instruction manuals I've seen from the land this is from that Conqueror is actually spelt correctly on it.. Gotta be good quality right🤣.. Yes Would-He made his full debut👍
I think the camera angle makes it look bigger than it is but it is good for 2. It's a Coleman Valdes 4 and I think we paid about £500 a couple of years ago.
Wow! So much equipment yet so light! Went and weighed our pop up tent and “walking gear” (Vauxhall Adam 🤔😉🙈) and decided that I need a good list of taxis and b&b’s 😬🙈😂. So so impressed and in awe of your achievement 👍🏻👍🏻. Great vids and looking forward to “coming along” on the Cumbrian way 👍🏻👍🏻😃😃
Thanks Steve, it took some planning but thankfully made some good choices so weren't overly weighed down so as it becomes a chore and non of the gear failed us, a testament to the brands we selected👍
As you said and put it so well - what a view! Love the way your camera shows the great countryside and views as you’re making your way through the Highlands 😊
Cheers, the 360 cam does capture some ultra wide shots, it's a bit of a double edge sword though with some of the distortion you can get, makes your walk look like something from Monty Python at times and defo adds a few pounds to the stature 🤣
Thanks for the video of your trip. I typically use my iPhone, but want to step up my game to something with better quality video. What video equipment did you use (GoPro or other)? Did you edit on laptop?
Hi, thanks for watching. It might be useful to watch our next video, hopefully released Wed evening, where we will talk about our full load out including the camera gear. We use our phones for most of the stills (galaxy S22u and S10). I may take a DSLR on day Hikes, overnighters or short weekends but the weight is too much for multi day Hikes. The video is shot on an insta360 X3 which allows 4k 'Action Cam' footage from either front or rear lens or 1080p full 360 degree capture which can then be reframed in post processing. I lost faith in Gopro due to glitches and losing footage in the past, some of this stuff may be once in a lifetime and you need reliability. Drone footage is taken with DJI Mini 3 pro. I use a laptop for editing with Davinci Resolve software, it's running a core I7 processor, editing in 4k takes a lot of processing and memory, especially if creating proxy media to speed up editing so my preference would be for a dedicated desktop PC built for video work. Reels and shorts are generally edited on the move with our phones. The insta360 app is also surprisingly capable for a mobile app.
Loving your vids guys. Have subscribed in support! We know how hard it is to make good content and get your RU-vid channel off the ground. Going through it ourselves. Keep up the good work!
Hey Scott, thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated. The app is called Relive and integrates with most fitness watches like Garmin and Strava.
Thank you, Inveroran was lovely. It's a common place along the route for people to pitch so it's unlikely to get it all to yourself but still really nice for a wild camp. The beach on Loch Lomond in part 2 was probably our favourite and then the pitch we had at the old Ruins featured in the next episode to be released.
Hello! I walked the trail in early May. In hindsight I am glad that I walked the difficult path (that day from the Sallochy Campsite to the Beinglas Campsite). Very, very nice but of course also exhausting. Luckily my backpack isn't very heavy - I'm more of a big boy for that. I saw many women struggling with their huge backpacks. Luckily the trail was reasonably dry that day. Thank you for your film! Greetings from Germany, Timo
