Some people call me the sharing economy Vloger. A few companies that I talk about frequently are Uber Uber Eats, Postmates, iCracked and many many other bay area start ups. I like to talk about making money saving money tips and review videos. I also have a video series named The San Francisco Series and in these videos we talk about San Francisco's stuff. I'm also a world traveler too so I'm definitely going to make travel blogs too. I have tons of helpful playlists as well. Feel free to subscribe. Learn about Uber and Ubereats here!
They don't need to be camped out on cul-de-sacs with their pitbulls where some people living nearby and don't drive have to walk that and don't feel safe just commuting to where they have to go.
Finally someone telling the truth. I've been saying this for the last few years now and feel like I've been gaslit, so many people who live here and on Reddit seem to be in denial SF is dead now.
Let's not forget how most coffee houses close at 3-4 pm now. Shift toward ordering everything in / streaming games and movies/ online shopping for everything, less drinking, weed, and social media / dating apps all contributed to this. And yes - there can be no real recovery without full return to the office to feed local happy hours. Also, Mondays are extra dead now with so many Restaurants / bars simply not being open on Mondays. Way less tourism. Downtown covered with "for lease" signs.
I spent a couple of weeks at a friend's house who lived on Haight St and man we wouldn't go outside after dark! We had everything done and all we needed in the apartment by dark because it totally changed once the sun went down. This was 94 and was wild during the day but I can't imagine what it's like once it gets dark there
You have your finger on the pulse of what happened. $19 for a falafel combo. $17 for a drink. Fewer commuter workers. Etc. If it's not in your neighborhood, money's staying home. Lived in SOMA through the mid 2010s. Good times. A lot changed in the past 10 years. Just not worth driving there between parking, car break ins (which were already bad in the early 2010s), everything.
The grand on 4th Street is charging $40 to get in for entrance fee. That's just to get into the building. Most clubs overcharging when you go in it's not very fun. It's like San Francisco's purposely discouraging people from leaving wanting to go out.
I’ve been in SF since the 70’s and the current version of SF is just wack- the people, culture, politics, etc. l spent time in Miami during lockdown and it felt like paradise, SF feels like purgatory.
You need to do more of these types of videos along with your ones touring the city too. I see you’re about to hit 100k subs congratulations Jermaine 👍. I been following you for about 5 or 6 years now ❤
You make some great points, particularly around the decrease of service industry workers and how that effects nightlife. Also agree on your point around Cannabis culture, my friends and I used to just roll a few joints and hit Polk, go to the bars, step out for a joint, then go back in. Met hella people just kicking it outside smoking lol I actually met my wife on Polk at Vertigo (RIP) in the mid 2010s. Polk definitely not what it used to be but we'll see if that changes eventually
So sad...I used to work the VIP room at Release 1015 Folsom then we would walk around the corner to the Endup before sunrise and flirt with the fierce trannies...Golden age
Been here for 20 years. Sf was lit even up to the mid 2010’s. Then slowly demographics changed, tech boom chased out locals, and crime started to rise. Def not the same city it used to be.
