Nothing black about Teena Marie. I love her music too but you're cooonin making a title like that. She got schooled by one of the best , Rick James and she really had soul. I agree with everything except for your title. She was more than tolerable imo.

Hey DJ Sir and Jay, I would love to first thank you for doing your content. I'm 21 and I was searching for a podcast on the legend Teddy Pendergrass. It's refreshing to hear other people deep dive into musical topics like this one. I hope you guys never stop producing content and continue to grow your channel and reach. I saw some other videos that peaked my interest that I'll definitely check out!

Black kids did not read Tiger Beat...we read Right On. Tiger Beat didn't feature Black artists. Also Berry Gordy requested Rick James to work with her..Teena was a session writer and Rick didn't know she was white. Also Teena stayed true to her Black fan base.

Yeah we talk a bit about the importance of the Cash Money years, and the fact that those albums are solid Teena Marie records for sure.

Every time i hear the "Keep country music pure" dogwhistle, it makes me so sad. This is why Beyonce going into that scene, taking up space and causing a disruption is so important. I'm so glad she was brave enough to do it. A true artist!

All 80’s female rappers: YoYo, MC Lyte, etc. that released albums between 1997-1999 have fallen below expectations, sadly.

GITTY UP is the best song on Salt-N-Pepa’s last studio album, BRAND NEW! There are still some cuts that are great such as IMAGINE and THE CLOCK IS TICKING. I think what was missing with that album was the obvious, Herby!

Thank you for allowing the younger minds know of the legacy this show has brought. And all the different races, musical genres and movie actors this show has included. . Growing up it was akways an impact on me before going to school . And again right after. I miss the impact it had on me and wish it would make a stronger impact on all of our lost ones today. This show gave me a sense of hope when no one was around. It has taught me to dwell on positive things. Include everyone and Adults today in 2024 have forgotten to "Never Judge a Book by Its Cover" always treat Everyone Equal. .

Ruben Studdered was overweight and Americans only like sex symbols in their charts like Janet Jackson and Lenny Kravits. The music industry should allow all artist to win but ever since Elvis the powers that be treated the music industry like a house of women for sale.

If you read in inside credits of this album she listed every single musician who played on that album. It was her record label’s idea to take all the credit . Yes Sony!! And today it still has written , produced and arranged by Lauryn Hill…I’ve seen her live 12 times …also met her a few times!! Robert Glasper did that interview and afterwards he did the interview with Talib Kweli when he said, “he think she’s one of the most talented people on earth!” ..and throughout the years, she got her band together..same musicians for 14 yrs…she don’t turn around and direct them anymore..and Lemonade does not compare to MEOLH! Nothing compares!!and yes we all love Prince but Prince never released an Alblun as Big as the MEOLH!! Let’s be honest 🤷🏾‍♂️ and Michael was also dope as fuck but he worked with other producers and musicians . Unplugged was dope! It went Platinum and was Grammy nominated and it has been sampled by Kanye, Method Man and so many other and many of us prefer unplugged over MEOLH!! We love the purity and rawness and honesty!! First time we ever heard somone rap with a guitar!! The rhymes in Unplugged was more advance than her rhymes on The Score! She’s fucking amazing!!! GO LAURYN!! “The Boogeymen”
