Bought mine 2 years ago (analogue) and is a very smooth and quiet runner. The model in the review has rather oversized numerals. Mine did come with correct size ones. Overall a reasonable and fair minded review. Thanks

Thanks for the comment! The owner of this model made his own numbers for the locomotive rather than using the ones supplied, he knows they're not the correct size but he's done it the way he wants it. Thanks for watching the video!

Cheers Tom! The layout is getting there slowly, hoping to have the shed area finished at some point soon with the addition of another water crane and some other gubbins. The miniature railway is coming leaps and bounds! I'm hoping to take it on the exhibition circuit along side the Telford O gauge group's main layout so I need to get cracking, really 😂 Thanks for the feedback, buddy!

What a MONSTER! That sound profile is magnificent and the details included from the fans to the rotating coupler are really top notch. I am incredibly impressed. Great video again Rob. Loving these.
@Kilnline
@Kilnline Месяц назад
Thanks Hylt! The rotating hook really does do work since the loco is very long, helps with shunting and buffer lock as it doesn't pull the couplings like others do. The fans are great, but very loud sadly!

Nice model from Heljan. I might get one in the future. Shame the real one was scrapped in France recently but the model lives on. I like the RC idea. I might do that with my Class 60's in the future.
@Kilnline
@Kilnline Месяц назад
It's a very nice model. I don't think many of the real examples exist even over here anymore or at least none are operational. RC is brilliant! Means I don't have to turn the layout on to run trains which is great when I just want to pop up for 10 minutes and see a train going round.

Nice review mate, I agree about the cradle, it's frustrating having to break out a screwdriver to get a new model out of its box. Also, could've done with a wee dusting before you did the review, but still a good'un anyway Have a nice rest of your day 😊
@Kilnline
@Kilnline Месяц назад
Yeah, the dusting is my bad! I will remember for next time. This loco was the first and it definitely shows it with all the dust 😂 As much as it's annoying to have to find a screwdriver to remove it from the cradle, as someone else said, it protects the details so, that's the good thing about it I suppose. The cradle is a great solution IMHO. It keeps the details separate from the foam cushioning, that way nothing will catch on the faom if it gets jostled in transit, and you can't catch any detail parts putting it out of the foam. Also... youight have dusted the loco 😂 I would also dispute this being the "railroad" of O gauge. These locos are as good if not better than many kits I have seen, they really have brought O gauge into the mainstream. Is it as good as a £4000 proffesionally built A3 , no but its far better than any hornby railroad locomotive
@Kilnline
@Kilnline Месяц назад
The cradle is great for initial transport, but for anyone who takes the locomotive in and out like I did when I got the locomotive the screws in the base can loose their thread, meaning that the loco can't be transported in the cradle, this happened to one of my friends locos. You do make some very valid points about it though! Yeah, I really should've dusted it in hindsight, I may revisit this locomotive again in the future and will definitely get it looking it's best. I meant the railroad version of O gauge in a way it's entry level but I understand where you're coming from. It regards to the details. Thank you very much for the constructive criticism and will take it onboard for future videos!

I'm pleased with mine. Converted to battery plus radio control for garden railway...although no DCC sound effects at present. These ran at 60mph+. Big drive wheels, light weight. We get used to 25mph preserved railways....
@Kilnline
@Kilnline Месяц назад
I bet they made a lot of noise getting to 60mph too! They're wonderful bits of kit. How difficult was it to convert the loco to RC?
@WandleValleyRailway
@WandleValleyRailway Месяц назад
@@Kilnline More complicated that I expected. It would be easier with a large tender loco. I use a modern miniature receiver/electronic speed controller (Micron from RC Trains). Inside the coach. With 10 AA size NiMH cells I shaved just enough off the underside of the roof clips so I can take the roof off easily to fit it. I might post some videos when rain stops. On Wandle Valley Railway.

@Kilnline
@Kilnline 2 месяца назад
Firstly, let me be the first to say, Welcome to O gauge! The Peco starter set is a very good set for the price considering points are on average about £70 each these days! O gauge is an amazing scale to model in at the moment and right now is the best time to be part of it.

Surely the acrylic base plate is only there to protect it in stransit in a shipping container? And did these railcars ever tow goods wagons? I don't remember seeing any.
@Kilnline

Yeah the acrylic base is transport more than anything but I guess could also be used if the locomotive is only for display too. They were known to pull the odd milk tank or van down their respective branch lines.

This looks and sounds superb! The inability to use the cradle with the details fitted is a bit annoying for folks like myself that like to store the models securely when not in use. That said, definitely would love to get one of these, not too big and can run solo perfectly fine so would look the part alongside my small freight movements.

Good review, both classes could work with the class 121 trailer car which was unpowered, Pressed Steel Ltd built 10 for this purpose. Pressed Steel Heritage used one to work with W55033 on the Colne Valley Railway, before hiring it to the Epping Ongar Railway W56287.
