Alr I rewatched it and the problem is you’re not moving your back foot higher up. Once you get that you should be able to clear it. And jump a bit higher
@@erikheatwole7146 I'm still working on it.. just wanted to see if I could still flip the board.. it's seeming to be more difficult to re-learn what I was doing 30 years ago
Nice! I’m waiting for the day you ollie that curb 👀I would prioritize that because once you get the muscle memory down you can grind and do 180s with ease Edit: atleast that was my case lmao 😂
Holy man! U are almost there. Try doing squats outside of your skate sessions to help build leg strength, and help your body get used to landing with your knees bent. A tip for curbs, if you ollie then put your foot on the nose, even if you clip there is a chance the board will still come up. Giving your brain a feel for the commitment. And watch that back foot! It’s always what clips the board so as long as you bring it up you’ll get the curb cleared
That's great advice.. I've always had strong legs but I have a bit more mass to lift nowadays 😜. I think what's holding me back from committing to a full ollie up the curb is the possibility of landing off balance.. silly fear, I know.. thanks again brother 🤘
When popping put the ball of your foot in the center of your tail. Trust me it helps a LOT lol. And when flicking try going as much through the nose as possible
Thank you.. I definitely need to work on my flick and speedy return to the board. I'm just happy I was able to flip it at all . First time since the late 90s hahaha.. a couple weeks ago I was trying and was only kicking my board in front of me with no flip.. I tested the back foot placement idea from Skate IQ and boom, I got flippage.. now to start dialing it in.. not the easiest with wearing size 13s 🤣🤘
What's funny is back in the 90s 7.75 was the size to get.. I ride 8.125 now.. when I stand on my daughter's 7.75 it feels tiny.. funny how such a small difference feels like a major one🤘
@@jorgyspeed6 yea lol. 7.75 is nice for smaller shoes and if you want a good balance to flick ratio you can look up shoe size skateboard charts (I didn’t even know they existed until like 2 days ago)
@@ParadoxGraffiti200 I did also.. but life gets better.. I joined the military because I didn't feel like school material (turns out I have had ADHD since childhood).. I got my associates degree in my 30s lol.. if I had it to do over again, I'd do the exact same thing
The military is different for everyone but the vast majority of people I have met never regretted joining and would do it again. As with anything in, there are exceptions to every rule
Being an old skater dude myself I have to tell you that was absolutely amazing how he did that triple backflip while Landing squarely on the board without falling off was amazing absolutely amazing at least that's what I saw 😮😅😅😅😅
this is so awesome i love seeing people get back into skating im 35 myself and the best tip i can give you after watching your kick flip attempts too is get that tail to the ground slap it like the hooker that owes you money you should here the pop keep it up
@@jorgyspeed6 yeah man 😂 I have a serious question. Idk if the answer would vary from gender but I didn’t grow up with a dad and I’ve always wanted to know, as a male do you miss school after you graduate? Cuz I have been told it’s the best years of my life even though I hate it lol. Lmk
I personally didn't see that as the best years of my life. They may have been more carefree but not the best. Every person experiences their best years at different stages of life.. it's actually sad to think of high school as the best years.. they're such a small fragment of your life. To be honest, the best years are any time in life where you're doing what you enjoy.. I've experienced many "best years" and you will too..
@@jorgyspeed6 old age we turn into a stiff corps and everything hurts now like falling lol no wonder most old people are miserable they can't skate! Lol
@@jorgyspeed6 also some advice about skateboarding. U need to tuck your body more when doing things like Ollie's. I always say u should be able to touch the board when tucking to take off into a air borne trick! Man I was ollie airwalk king as a kid in the 80s! Was doing them onto handrails! Ps I know the dad bod dosen't help when ur belly is in the way! Lol
I feel like I'm hitting a confidence wall and progressing stalled but the encouragement of our skate community reignites the fire.. thank you brother.. skate on 🤘
I'm working on that.. I think it's the fear of landing off balance.. I'm trying to prove to my mind that I can land it.. doesn't help that I haven't been able to get out in a while.. it has been either stupid hot and humid or storms plus adulting sucks 🤘
