Why does the planning area disappear when driving on sight?

In driving-on-sight no planning is possible, as the driver is having to operate entirely on what they can see out of the cab window(s). If there's a sudden change (e.g. A car stopping on a crossing immediately in front of the train) the driver has to act reactively to it, and this is also why _drive-on-sight_ authority tends to have a hard limit of 30km/h, similar to _Rouge Permissif_ in TVM. 🟥🟥🟥 As any attempt at planning (i.e: Driving with the normal assurance the line ahead is clear) would be absolutely lethal when working on sight authority, it makes sense that the planning display is cleared. Not only because any _implication_ of planning could be potentially dangerous, but the absence of the planning display would act as a clear visual reminder to the driver of what mode they're operating in. 🚆

@@dieseldragon6756 Those are all good points, but that's not at what I'm getting at. Firstly, at 9:38 you can see that it's possible to toggle the Planning Area back while driving On Sight (in Germany it's a requirement to activate this), but more importantly, from a technical standpoint, OS is pretty much FS but with the addition of the driver needing to drive on sight (otherwise we'd have Staff Responsible, where the planning area is of course not possible). That means that information about the route, particularly where the Movement Authority ends, is still visible & important to know. This information is always better to have rather than not, so there seems no reason for the default of OS to be to hide the planning area. I fully agree that driving on sight means eyes should be focusing on the outside rather than inside, but you still gather a lot of information from a quick glance, and even without a planning area, you'd still occasionally be glancing at your speedometer to monitor your speed while driving on sight in other situations. I completely disagree that there is nothing to plan when driving on sight, as while no doubt the focus absolutely without question has to be with what's going on outside your train, it doesn't detract from other duties - other driving aspects aren't reduced when driving on sight, rather it's layered on top. You still have to obey signals/movement authorities, stations, adhere to faults and other contingencies.

At 20:44 there is a transition to a different mode, speed limit 100km/h. It lasts till 22:00. What mode is that? Haven't seen that symbol before.
