If you're taking your driving test in Northampton, whether you're from here or not, practicing with an instructor or family member, this channel can help you familiarise yourself with what to expect on the test, such as routes/areas you may be asked to go to and any difficult junctions along the way.
There are also skills demonstrated and tips to help with anticipation, hazard perception, independent driving, misconceptions and much more to help you through the test, but more importantly to be a safe and competent driver for the rest of your life.
Any questions, then drop a comment on the relevant video and I'll try to answer.
No, it's just to show examples of whether it would be safe to enter a roundabout. These playlists might help: ru-vid.com/group/PLlmo-k4GLQyecZbAGuaFpsWKmUw3q51o9&si=WxaDIcEQCREGbHcE and ru-vid.com/group/PLlmo-k4GLQyeYt14mIxpASrUSuY9ON-NV&si=mBcGyt81uShVUuY7
Nice one! Yeah, if someone comes round a bend toward you too fast at the wrong moment, there's not much you can do with it being so narrow. At least some of the potholes have been smoothed over
You can't usually go wrong with a signal. It would benefit any pedestrians that may be waiting to cross, or at a roundabout, vehicles opposite that maybe can't tell you are in a right turn only lane. However, I think it would be less likely to be necessary to indicate when: - Multiple lanes turn right and you are in the extreme right hand lane, or - The right turn lane is separated from other lanes by a traffic island. Even in these two instances though, if I see pedestrians waiting to cross further round the corner I would pop a signal on.
I would like to have an instructor for Northampton NN2 8DX. How much does it cost me for 10 hours. I have more than 40 years driving experienced in my home country but in UK I just pass the Theory test. I have never drive in Northampton. I would like to take a driving test as soon as possible. Would you please help me out. Thanks.
Thanks. This one was 8am on a weekday and I think the car in shot at 8:33 may have been a test too, so I'd say this one. There would be less routes used at this time to avoid the school traffic
@@drivingtestreadynorthampton Thank you for your reply! any other routes you think are likely to be done at this time? any insight is useful. Thank you!
@@kerimalsafar5296 Harlestone ones, Harpole ones, Church Brampton clockwise would be less congested at this time, than ones going through or near Kingsthorpe which would likely be avoided, I think
I have recently passed my driving test in Northampton. Really need to give credit to this youtube channel as it really covers a lot actual test routes in Northampton. Really recommend all students that are going into test in Northampton watch the videos here!
Depends on a few things such as traffic, bends, potholes, bad weather, narrow road etc. If you have some or all of these then even 40 may be too quick, let alone 50 or 60. You have to assess all of these things and make reasonable progress without being reckless.
At 25:50, what if youre asked to turn left but it’s during the time where youre not able to use the bus lane? Can you still use it to turn left or would you continue straight in the right hand lane?
Great question. The highway code states: "Unless otherwise indicated, you should not drive in a bus lane during its period of operation. You may enter a bus lane to stop, to load or unload where this is not prohibited." So no mention of using it to turn left. It also states: (When turning), "give way to any vehicles using a bus lane, cycle lane, cycle track or tramway from either direction, including when they are passing slow moving or stationary vehicles on either side." Which suggests using the right-hand lane to turn left, which is what I would do, if safe, after checking mirrors more than once. If not safe, like you say, you can just continue ahead without fault. Extremely unlikely they would ask you to turn left there during the times of operation I would think.
For this one it's 7:30-9:30am. During those times you cannot drive in it. Because the 9:30am is around the time of your test it's unlikely they'll take you there around that time, but if they do, you can ask for the time at that moment and they'll tell you.
Thank you so much for these videos! I just passed yesterday @ Northampton and they really helped, especially the real test/mock test ones! Very well edited to make them super helpful thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I watched most of the videos especially sixfields and ring road routes as I had failed twice on those routes. I passed my 3rd test today with 2minor faults. Thanks alot and I'm sure these videos will help others
Would be blocking the roundabout if we queued up in the lane to go ahead. Traffic from the right just got a green light, we would then be in their way, which would likely be serious. Taking the empty lane to turn right was the best option, was done safely, without compromising lane discipline, so can't be a fault. Very smart from the learner
Yes, before driving off you are asked a 'tell me' question. During the drive you are asked a 'show me' question. All possible questions are listed on the government website: www.gov.uk/government/publications/car-show-me-tell-me-vehicle-safety-questions/car-show-me-tell-me-vehicle-safety-questions In this test the show me question is demonstrated at 11:14
Had my driving test last week took me this route and this exact roundabout! Watched this video and my instructor took me here too. These videos are so helpful. I passed first time round, keep them coming!
These two are the only real driving tests I've been able to record so far: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6q_YIFdiM70.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--FPebjTrhTw.html
Roughly 15 main ones they'll use at once, although they'll vary some of them slightly, so there are still hundreds of possibilities, and then, every year or two, they'll change about half of the 15 completely
