Hi! I'm Tatjana, the creator, and teacher of Practical Embroidery online school.

By teaching hand embroidery techniques and application, I empower crafters to take care of their clothes, homes, and emotional health with the help of simple stitches. I offer a range of online courses, workshops, downloadable patterns, video tutorials, and embroidery kits, so everyone can learn at their pace from the comfort of their own home.

This RU-vid channel is fully dedicated to hand embroidery and its practical applications.

If you have any questions - contact me and I’ll be happy to help.

N.B. Some years ago this channel was created as the EasyToMake designs channel. You can still find hand embroidery video lessons, and DIY tutorials, with logos of EasyToMake designs.

This stitch is difficult for me. I've practiced today and am finally understanding the steps but the threads are separating and making it even more tricky when I tighten the loop. I'm going to try using thread more like yours.

@practicalembroidery

I think you can go up and down, but this diagonal method saves some thread. Also, I find that the tension is more even this way.

Is this made the same as the outline stitch??
@practicalembroidery
@practicalembroidery 19 дней назад
Very similar, but not the same. The difference between these stitches is the position of the working thread when you embroider. When you make a Stem stitch, keep the thread to the right, and when you make an Outline stitch - to the left side of the working direction. This video tutorial explains it better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y_gvYJfo-c4.html

It's all about tension-keep the winded thread in tension until the last moment so the knot is nice and compact.
