it's ashame this change to heated grips is so hard....i tried to go through Yamaha & buy heated grips from them & they said sorry, we can't do that....Even though i've see videos in Europe of ppl installing them..

It's so annoying. Yamaha should give us the aftermarket stuff we want!!!

Thanks for the video however in relation to the the section where you re-pin the grey connector. I cant really see what's happening with the retaining part.. do you push it downwards, or into the connector (or pull it out?) in order to remove the connection?

I cant really see whats going on. Need the camera aimed directly at the wiring modifications. Pretty cool though. Good job.

Did you use solder when you splice the wires together? Or just a simple butt splice and heat shrink?
@ChristopherEsplin

Nope. Didn't need solder.

I've been fighting to get the pin removed for a few days now. Any special tricks to release that hook and remove the pin from the connector? I am using a hook and pick set and the only one I've been able to remove was one that I ended up breaking. Any help is appreciated!

Did you ever get this? I can't remember how I did it. It has something to do with a sewing pin, very precisely inserted. Once I figured out the process, I was able to do it the second time quite quickly.

@@ChristopherEsplin I was eventually able to get the pin released. Was a bit of a pain and I broke one of the connectors, but ultimately I got it all wired up and still love the heated grips. Thanks!

This was so helpful as I had the oxford grips left over from a previous bike and almost considered buying the OEM ones. Thanks Chris and Sean for the OG post on redit. Saved me a tonne of cash.
