what an absolute dream car. this is the exact car i dream about every night except mine has the o.e. ruf wheels(does this possibly have a set with a different set of tires?) ive always been a turbo fanatic. i curate my brothers 993 turbo when he shows it and was like everyone else finding the so called faults of the 996. over the years ive come to love the 996 and its the turbo i would prefer. i think the lights are perfect it wouldnt and doesnt look right with 997 style lights. it has such a muscular design with more angles where as the newer and older cars have more curves, hence oval lights work with them but not on a 996. its the more apt for tuning gen than all previous and even newer it just loves more power and to have a certified conversion done at Ruf well it doesnt get any better. ive been a Ruf fanatic since 1984 and to this day is in my eyes the ultimate sports/performance car money can buy. what a bueatiful example. do you know if it has the letter that states its is now a certified rt12? and whats the asking price ballpark? thank you so much. cheers
It sure is a fantastic car! So brutal but thanks to the upgrades it gets a more sofisticated driving experince. To our knowledge the seller does not have the certification from RUF in Germany.
That old ass car has stuff that some new cars still don't have! Mercedes is one amazing car manufacturer! I wish either Cadillac or Buick would have or would be on the same level with Mercedes. We don't have any American car that can run with Mercedes on any level. I'll say that Cadillac is finally stepping their game up, but they're still light years away from Mercedes. Their highest model still hasn't caught Mercedes' lowest model and probably still has a 20-year or more gap!
I had one when was stationed in germany.❤ Hate that I had to sell it as I left. My Dream is one day to have it again...and I'll never let it go...ever.
I RELUCTANTLY SOLD MY 1970 (MANUFACTURED 12/69) HONDA CB750 K0 MOTORCYCLE WITH 45,191 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, Vin #: CB7501016269, ENGINE #: CB750E-1016228 FOR US$ 11,000 TO A CUSTOMER IN DENMARK MORE THAN 20-YEARS AGO. THIS AMAZING MOTORCYCLE CHANGED THE PATH OF MY LIFE, AND OWNED ME FOR MORE THAN 35 WONDERFUL YEARS! IT WAS PURCHASED IT IN THE SUMMER OF 1972 WITH LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER FOR $935.00 (PLUS "USE TAX" AND "TRANSFER FEES", THOSE STATE BASTARDS!). BECAUSE OF A DESIRE TO PRECISELY MAINTAIN THIS MOTORCYCLE, I WENT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER (KOLBE HONDA) AND ORDERED THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL. I LOOKED AT THE REQUIRED TOOL LIST AND SAW THIS "VACUUM CARBURETOR SYNCHRONIZER" AND WENT TO THE KOLBE PARTS MANAGER WHO TOLD ME THE PRICE WAS $387.00! SINCE THIS WAS MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF WHAT I PAID FOR THE ENTIRE BIKE, I RODE TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED FOUR VACUUM GAUGES, 3-16" RUBBER VACUUM LINE, "BUNDY" BRAKE LINE TUBING, AND FOUR METRIC SCREWS THAT MATCHED THE PORTS ON THE CARBURETORS. LOOKING AT THE SMALL PHOTO IN THE MANUAL OF THE SYNCHRONIZER, I REALIZED I NEEDED TO PURCHASE FOUR "NEEDLE VALVES" AT THE AQUARIUM STORE TO DAMPEN THE INTAKE PULSATIONS. I BUILT A COPPER MANIFOLD AND ATTACHED THE FOUR DISASSEMBLED GAUGES TO A VACUUM PUMP (AN OLD REFRIGERATOR COMPRESSOR) AND LEARNED TO CALIBRATE THE ANEROID GAUGES BY BENDING THE BOURDON TUBE SO THAT THEY ALL TRACKED EACH OTHER, THEY DIDN'T COME THAT WAY FROM THE FACTORY! I CUT THE BUNDY TUBING INTO LENGTHS, AND BRAZED IT TO THE METRIC SCREWS THAT I HAD DRILLED AND ADDED RUBBER O-RINGS. AFTER COMPLETING AND TESTING THE PROTOTYPE, I WENT BACK TO THE PARTS MANAGER AND SHOWED IT TO HIM AND HE SAID HOW MUCH FOR A QUANTITY OF TEN? AFTER NEGOTIATING A PRICE WITH HIM, ON MAY-15-1972 (MY 20TH BIRTHDAY) I FORMED MY FIRST COMPANY, THE "FOUR DESIGNS COMPANY" TO MANUFACTURE MY FIRST COMMERCIAL PRODUCT: THE "VACU-TUNE" CARBURETOR SYNCHRONIZATION GAUGE SET FOR HONDA FOUR MOTORCYCLES (I SOLD MORE THAN 3,000 OF THE GAUGE SETS). I SOLD THE COMPANY TO MY JR. HIGH SCHOOL FRIEND AND IT IS STILL IN BUSINESS, NOW RE-MANUFACTURING ELECTRONIC TEST AND MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENTS, SEE: WWW.FOURDESIGNS.COM). I KNOW THAT THERE IS A LOT OF INTEREST IN THE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION RUN OF THESE MOTORCYCLES WITH THE "SAND-CAST" MAIN ENGINE CASES, BUT AESTHETICALLY, I ALWAYS PREFERRED THE FINISHED LOOK OF THE PAINTED DIE-CAST CASES. I DEFINITELY PREFER THE LOOK OF THE K0 MODEL WITH IT'S MATCHING PAINTED SIDE COVERS, AIR-BOX, AND HEADLIGHT BUCKET. THE K1 MODEL JUST DIDN'T HAVE THAT UNIQUE LOOK THAT THIS ORIGINAL MOTORCYCLE IS FAMOUS FOR.
