Vegan food and a vegan lifestyle is truly amazing and right now it has NEVER been easier and more delicious to ditch meat and animal products. Let us show you how...
By far one of the worst vegan products we have ever tried. The flavour is bland and TBH the best thing about it is the breadcrumbs! Sainsbury's are selling these off cheap, I wonder why 🤔
I bought 'THIS Isn't" chicken pieces today because sweet n sour chicken balls in batter is too tempting, hopefully these will end that chinese takeaway craving! Can't remember if they sold 'What the Cluck" but they had something from The Vegetarian Butcher next to it on the shelf but if it's this stuff I would definitely buy it as it looks like roast turkey which I used to make Doner Kebab with and the spices should add enough flavour to the spot on texture/chew. I tried Quorn mince, the smell made me yak whilst cooking instantly and it said egg whites in the ingredients anyway so it went straight in the bin. Annoying because 2/3 of the shelf is Quorn products but I make much better vegan mince from egg plant + oat flour + semolina anyway.
If you're buying these because of the "protein" marketing you're being really mugged off and falling for one of the latest marketing techniques of putting the word protein on everything.....also noted they have palm fat in them....and I know they'll probably say it's "ethically and sustainability " resourced palm fat, don't believe it, deforesting areas often of great significance for natural echo systems just so they can source a slightly cheaper source of vegetable fat and costs really does contradict their "natural, pure, sourced from nature" general vibe ....🤷🏻♂️
Not gonna lie I'm not vegan paid £8 for two tiny pizzas that wasn't clearly labelled vegan and come on there horrible fair play to you vegans if this is what use have to eat
Truth about soya utube would delete so pointless me saying. It is a super man made hybrid tho. The packets are full of plastic from crude oil so avoid. The best milk and is super cheap is organic creamed coconut. Take some n out into a jug. Put a tiny amount of boiling water n mix till smooth. Then add water preferably clean distilled water. Its super cheap n makes loads.
Nice little comparison. So Alpro changed the format. The chilled is 750ml but the long life is still 1l. Lidl do own protein soya milk special buy in the centre from time to time - 1l for £1 so stock up. The reason why the caps all changed to be attached to the carton is so birds can't get their beak stuck in them (eg at landfill sites etc). That's why you should always cut the ring for the old l style pull out seals.
WOW on both of these nuggets!! I did not know that on either, I will definitely keep my eye out on Lidl, I really do wish they would just stock some of this stuff permanently though 🤣 And great shout re why the bottle caps stay on, and yes definitely important to cut the pull cap style for our animal friends 🙏🙏
We know, what they taste like, they've been around for decades.Have you just discovered them.? They are not the best tasting meat free sausages. I prefer quorn or richmond, meat free sausages.🎉
Waaaaay back in 2006 I was on a vegan forum. We did care package exchanges, and mine had some Alpro. It was much nicer than anything they were making in the USA. Things have come so far since!
Great Vid!! Have u tried Koko long life coconut milk. It’s great for tea coffee (non vegans don’t notice any difference). Also works well with cereals.
THANK YOU! Great comment!! I have tried a lot of coconut milks and although I do love it, I just always find the taste of coconut overpowering, when I prefer a more neutral taste like soy or oat. HOWEVER I haven’t tried Koko so sounds like I need to!
@@YourVeganFoodExplorer I’d give it a go I really struggled 6 years ago when I first went vegan and I also dislike strong coconut flavour but Koko long life milk has no after taste. Keep making the videos 😊
I'm going to buy some of the alpro milk you've recommended to encourage my non-vegan OH to ditch the cruel stuff. He only has dairy in his tea & coffee, & sometimes on cereal (he's already swapped to plant based cheese etc), so if this worked for him it could see the end of vile dairy in our fridge 🙏🌱🥰 (Interesting that you bought it for non-vegan visitors. How do friends usually respond to you only offering vegan products when they visit? That'd be the dream for me, but could only work if my OH went 100% plant-based.) I'll report back... 🤞🥛 Did you and Mrs YVFE go vegan at the same time? (Hope it's OK to ask!)
Wow great questions! This sounds great, if it’s concerns over taste, protein or price then these should solve them! And we had a very slow transition from a lot of meat, to less meat, to flexitarian, to vegetarian and then I went vegan after watching Game Changers on Netflix and my wife went vegan the next day, which at that point was basically removing dairy milk. I find the small packs of milk suchhh a good idea as my relatives can buy it when we are coming, or we can take it with us and lasts a weekend for example. People are normally very interested and that’s why I love the Oatly Barista as it always delivers!!!
So interesting! I don't have particular favourites in terms of taste or texture but I don't take milk in hot drinks so don't have to worry about curdling etc. I currently buy Tesco unsweetened soya as it's so reasonably priced (also 50p), or the vermondo stuff you've featured, which I am so happy to see.
Wow I didn’t realise Tesco had a 50p version too?!? The Vemondo is always my favourite when people tell me plant milk is expensive! And from my understanding dairy still receives massive subsidies!!!
@YourVeganFoodExplorer yes, it's the Tesco Growers Harvest range. The price is astonishing compared to other plant milks. Outrageous and depressing that the cruelty of dairy is subsidised.
I agree with your summary and they are probably my favourite top 3 too. I buy the Lidl soya milk too as it's so cheap and good source of protein. I use it on cereal/porridge and to make shakes. A great all rounder. I don't use milk in hot drinks often but Oatly Batista is good and really like they do an organic version now as oats are extremely high in pesticide residue along with rice (I only buy organic oats and rice). Had the Alpro My Cuppa when it's been on offer and agree it just works in tea.
That’s a really great shout re using the organic versions, I am in Canada for holiday and a lot of their plant milks are Organic and it got me thinking of switching to organic!
@@YourVeganFoodExplorer Plenish and Rude Health milks are organic. Minor Figures, MOMA, Glebe Farm and Califia all do organic versions of their oat milks
Hey! I actually work at this restaurant, glad you enjoyed our food. I’ve never heard someone describe root beer as minty ahaha, you might be tasting the sassafras? Regardless thanks for the review!
LOLLL It has been quoted an experience for my taste buds drinking root beer, but I think I’m starting to like it a lot 🤣 Thank you so much for the comment and keep making this amazing food! Now I need to work out how do I get poutine back in the uk!
These were the same price, beyond was on discount by 1.50, and it is as moreish as a fast food chain burger and zero complaints BUT I miss having something that tastes like Birdseye meat burgers. Do the Richmond ones taste like Birdseye? Birdseye vegan burgers give me stomach ache and not great lol
This is a GREAT comment and question!! So, I was originally thinking ‘who wants the Richmond burger, as it’s nowhere near as good as the beyond burger’. BUT exactly like your point - sometimes you don’t want that, and sometimes you just want a ‘dirty burger’ that’s just super simple, which in this case in my opinion the Richmond works well. I’ve never actually had a Birds Eye vegan but I would say there is a high chance the Richmond one could be exactly what you’re looking for!!!
@@YourVeganFoodExplorer Nostalgia really, had Birdseye beef burgers growing up and their taste is kinda unique, they do a vegan version which sort of has the same flavouring just as Richmond meat free sausage have a similar flavouring as their pork sausages. Been trying to replicate the spongy texture of real Birdseye beef burgers and getting real close but they taste of vegan beef OXO cubes (which taste more or less identical to regular OXO)
I'm getting mixed up with fuel and huel protein drinks I thought fuel was abit too cheap and available to be vegan £1.30 vs £3..50 but you can't put a price on compassion . I'm going to have a look for huel. Thanks for the tip 😊
Are you going to Vancouver? I find BA a hit and miss. Sometimes good, sometimes not so. Never had that sort of pastry. I flew BA during the first year of the pandemic and they completely stopped special meals. They did provide vegetarian meals but it was loaded with dairy. It's strange how the other airline on my codeshare flight was able to provide special meals with absolutely no problems and veganism isn't even a thing there.
That’s really strange?!? I guess it must have been to do with supply troubles? But all back to normal now :-) And YES! We stayed in Kitsilano for the first 1/3 and will be in Downtown for the final 1/3! Absolutely loving it so far, and surprised with just how many vegan options there are. Have you been to Vancouver?
Never flown BAcas a vegan but that looks pretty good food from them. I've always found Emirates good as a vegan. I agree and brilliant you get food first. Even before I was vegan I always selected one of the special meal options for this reason.
Hold is based in California. They have some very tasty products. The cream cheeze will keep for a few days if you put it in an insulated bag. I call it "Whole Paycheck". 😁
LMAO! I 100% agree with you, it’s amazing shopping there but it really stings at the check out 🤣 That’s cool, and it survived our trip from Vancouver to Vancouver island so top marks!
Make sure you try Tofurky Smoked Ham (red packaging). They didn't have it on wholefoods but I found it in local supermarket in Brooklyn - it's simply the best! 😋
Yes, I fly with Easyjet 2 or 3 times a year, and have definitely noticed a slow, but steady improvement in vegan options. Also lots of stuff in airport shops now, including chocolate bars I've never seen anywhere else.
I 100% agree, the airport shops is a great shout as not too long ago there was absolutely nothing! I’ve enjoyed the launch of Huel in a lot of major airports too as an ultimate last resort of no food.
