FILM MUSIC: Unreleased and rare film scores. All videos contain music not released commercially on CD. Most pieces of music are ripped from the movies' actual soundtrack and sound effects and dialogue (if present) are removed as much as possible. If it is discovered that a film score has been issued on CD/digitally, the music video will be deleted. The music runs from the Golden Age of the 1940s through the present time and comes from American, British, Czech-Slovak, French, Polish, Swedish and Russian films (and every country in-between).
CLASSICAL MUSIC: Radio broadcast works and rare recordings. Virtually all the videos are recordings from radio and a great many are the only known performances of a given work. Less often, you will discover live recordings and the odd, very rare and long out-of-print LP. As with the film music videos, I do not share music from CDs on the channel.
This is wonderful! If you don't mind my asking, did you manage to find the score for the series on its own? Or did you manage to pull it yourself? It's one of my favorites and I've been searching for a way to listen to it without also playing the episodes themselves :)

Sad to hear that JUDY GEESON (Beryl Evans) is the last survivor out of the film's four main stars as PAT HEYWOOD (Ethel Christie) has passed away on 26th.June 2024, aged 92.
I have always adored how the same theme reflects the passage of time -- bright and tinkling at the beginning of the film, slow and more introspective and mature at the end. John Barry's genius.
The film has just been shown again on Talking Pictures TV this very evening and I was reminded how haunting the music is for the closing credits, very Malcolm Arnold.
This was one of Malcolm's favourite works. I went with him to a performance of it in the early 90s half way through I realised tears were streaming down his cheeks it brought back so many memories.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THAT POST! (AUGUST 14, 2024) OMG! Almost 40 years ago, I came upon that movie by chance. arriving home (still living at my parents') after a night out downtown, I opened the TV and it was already playing so I had missed, maybe, the first 1/4 or 1/3. the channel was 'Mountain Lake PBS'. an all-boys school so I thought: "There must be something 'gay' somewhere in that story!" so I pressed the 'Record' button on the VCR. I was as much obsessed with the film as I was with the music. I looked everywhere for so many years for the soundtrack on vinyl but it was never made. and NOW, look what shoes up in my RU-vid suggestions! HAVING A MOMENT RIGHT NOW! bought the movie when it came out on VHS tape, then the DVD, and recently downloaded the HD version on iTUNES. still no Blu Ray of that movie... what a shame!
The main problem with the 3 pieces of music heard whilst Mirren drives around Manchester is that they contain sound effects. Also, those pieces don't contain the full theme of the Prime Suspect series (the theme for Series 1-5). The 2 'themes' that I uploaded are in fact the End Title sequences to Parts 1 & 2 of Prime Suspect 5. They contain NO sound effects and carry the Theme in full.

The sudden entrance of 'Sumer Is Icumen In' after the scherzo is a magical moment. Now I invite you to listen to the 4th Symphony by comparison, composed barely 2 years earlier. Thank you, Mr Stuart, for making so much rare and obscure music available to us.
