Really nice video! I already know a lot about Sigurd, but hearing about him again is good. Maybe this sounds a bit annoying (and if it is, I apologize) but do you know where his legend came from? Was he an actual hero? Or is he simply fiction? And if it is fiction, what origins does he have?
So there is speculation that he may be based on a Merovingian king, but there's no consensus. I think that he's probably loosely based on some king or warrior but there's no way to definitively say. Ya know, unless we find a burial somewhere that says " Here lies Siegfried"
@@EveryPersonaExplained If we actually find that I would be happy, I really love the tale of Sigurd and especially the slaying of Fafnir. In many ways it reminds me a lot of Beowulf (I love Beowulf personally. Do you have some sources I could use for my personal research about this (Again hoping I'm not being too annoying asking these many questions)?
@@mart3151 Don't worry, your curiosity isn't annoying. The sources I used are in the description of the video. Unfortunately, they're just the stories. It sounds like what you're looking for is a scholarly analysis. I'd have a look on JSTOR and see if you can find an analysis on it.
@@EveryPersonaExplained Thank you so much man! I'm going to JSTOR to see for myself then. Have a good one, and thanks for answering every doubt I have. :)
She does have a cool detail referencing her origin. The cross present in her left breast is inspired by a tradition were amazons would cut one of their breasts (or nipples, i dont remember)
This is very true. I don't know why I didn't include that fact. Honestly I spent most of the making of this video thinking to myself "How do I explain her without just describing her like OSP Red did in her Trojan War video?"
Thank you! It is all over the place, but trying to simplify the multiple story branches and versions into one video would be a feat. Honestly, to properly explain it would take a very long video. And as much as I would love to do something like that, I don't have time for it. Maybe once I'm out of school.
Awesome videos dude! Watching them while grinding in Tartarus is really making the slog of portable grinding worthwhile. If it’s not too much trouble could you do Sukuna-Hikona next?
What you're missing for the single headed version is that it's generally referencing his design in Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei, and has a single head there to represent a single will (that is serving his master), a lot of times if the representation doesn't fit any of the original you have to go back to mainline SMT (well, this is prior to SMT but DDS:MT is mainline) where it's a gamble between "Kaneko was feeling horny" or story implications
I didn't know that, thank you for sharing! After doing the Alice, video that makes sense. I'll have to start looking into their SMT designs going forward. Also "Kaneko was feeling horny" makes some designs make sense
Congrats on finishing up the semester! One small comment I wanna make is that the audio on your voice is *really* quiet, I have to crank the volume just to hear what you're saying. Otherwise, great video as always, always looking forward to new stuff from you!
@@EveryPersonaExplained i feel you, i used to struggle a LOT with it when producing music or making YT videos when i was still in middle school. looking forward to more uploads!
Thank you very much! That's a good question. I'm very much not a subject matter expert, but I think the Hecatoncheries are pretty old. I didn't talk about it in the video, but there is a book about ancient Greek religion from 1896 called "The Cults of the Greek states" and there's a footnote in it talking about how Briareus-Aegaeon may be an old title for Poseidon. I found a copy on the Internet Archive, the footnote in on page 26. Poseidon is really old, older than ancient Greece, so i can believe they were originally old titles for him. I also think it's possible that they were the subjects of worship in a minor cult that got co-opted into the religion at large; or were just a different ocean god/set of gods whose popularity was less than that of Poseidon so they got side lined. Honestly I often find myself trying to reverse engineer mythological stories and characters and I could go on on this FOR A WHILE, but like I said I'm not an expert in the history Hellenic religion so it's just conjecture. That was a really good question, thank you for asking! :)
@@EveryPersonaExplained Thank you so much for taking your time to answer me. I always love anthropology and learning new things, and your videos are helping me a lot in that regard. About that book, I'll investigate it more in the future, it sounds really interesting. Anyway you got a new subscriber. Keep up the Axiom's work. ;)
That's not too surprising. There's a lot of Japanese media that references Benkei. The first time I heard about him was actually Detective Conan believe it or not
Alice is my favorite Persona for a reason. She's not only adorable design-wise, but she's really OP. And the fac that she got Almighty attacks (cofcofMegidolaoncofcof) just makes using her even more fun. And the lore behind her is even more interesting when you see how she started in the first SMT games.
i wonder if in addition to the fusion incentives associated with the moves & trait there is someeee explanation that involves the history of the stone. at least with the trait, it could represent all the different forms the gem took over the course of its storied history, and the multiple moves targeting a bunch of weaknesses could be indicative of the stone’s capacity to strike down any ill-fated rich person to get their hands on it. is this all a big stretch? oh, absolutely. the video binge is going well lmao, hee ho!
planning on doing a binge of all your videos, i really enjoy the style of video and the sense of humor is grounded. love the presentation style, hoping that the production stays like this for a while - my attention span can only take so much of smash cut zoom in zoom out camera gags. also yay a persona fan who doesn't scare the living shit out of me!
Thank you so much! I have no plans to change how the videos are structured. I sat on this idea for a long while, so I figured out how I wanted the videos to look. The only changes would be an improvement in quality as I get better at editing and speaking.
Honestly the Great Mara is a perfect example of a demon making more sense in the mainline SMT universe rather than persona. Even though it's more popular it's still just a spinoff series that brought over the original designs for fan service. EDIT: The P5 version of Mara was from SMT3 which was how it looked after the summoning failed
I love that by the time you fuse her, you probably have all these crazy demons in your party like Beelzebub and Satan, but this little girl is the scariest and most OP of them all
