Paralelní Polis is a one-of-a-kind nonprofit organization that brings together art, social sciences, and modern technologies. The ideas of liberty, independence, and innovative thinking and development of society are the main underlying foundations the whole project is built upon.
The project intends to remain state free as it operates entirely without support from the government, and most of the funds come from voluntary contributions of our donors and partly from commercial activities such as running a unique coworking space and the world’s first bitcoin-only cafe.
It was founded by members of a contemporary-art group Ztohoven, and Slovak and Czech hackerspaces. Its main goal is to promote economic, social, and digital freedom. We try to be a vocal voice of freedom in order to shape the public discourse, and ultimately work towards a freer future.

I was in Federal Prison back in the early 2000's with Bell. He is one of the most intelligent human being that I have ever met YET at the same time he had not a lick of people skills. I am not trying to demean Bell or talk bad AT ALL. He is a great guy. I was placed in Segregation for inciting a riot and giving a confirmed sex offender the "party" he so deserved and around that time Bell was always getting locked up in seg for disrespect to staff members or making threats so when we saw each other in the SEG unit he asked me if I had any books to let him read and then I remembered that he claimed to be a member of Mensa and had attended MIT and I had recently been sent a MENSA puzzle book and it was GREEK or Latin to me. I tried and tried each puzzle but they made no sense at all. I told Bell that I had a book for him and I tore the answers from the back of the book before giving it to him. Well the next morning I was going out to the rec area and Bell hollered at me and asked if I had another book and I laughed and said...."Was that book too much for you?" to which he replied as he slid the book under the door to me as i passed his cell......."It was too easy" I was in disbelief when I got back to my cell and checked the answers and they were ALL CORRECT. Smart ass dude but no common sense or people skills. I had to touch him up for laundry room disrespect but he got the message and we never had issues again. I'm glad to see a rising interest in Usenet. I think there is a need for a personal node that anyone can run. It should be a single installation on Windows that results in a Usenet peer and a local news reader that supports multipart multimedia transparently. A different approach to the same problem would be to build on Bitmessage. Only the header information would be sent via Bitmessage while the content would be on IPFS. It seems a user client could talk to the existing Bitmessage daemon via the API to get this done. It might be a good project for the team behind the Brave browser.
