Mam, I dont know what I am going through, but I find it very difficult to remember the things which I learn previously (even though I revised multiple times) and my working memory is very much reduced , I cant solve complex maths and computer programs . During solving complex programs , I find it difficult to keep all things which I thought previously ( seconds ago) in my head to solve the problem. Even though I dedicate so much of time in studying , I could not match with my friends scores ( who score more than me by putting lesser effort than me ) and this makes more depressed and tired . Currently I have very bad lifestyle ( junk food, no exercise, no proper sleep) , but I have already tried following these steps and ended up in no results . I am a undergrad student , I need to resolve this to get placed . I need to know the exact reasons and disorder behind this and exact solutions to get back my old brain . This change happened to me before 5 years , currently I am 22 years old . During my school time , my brain was normal and properly functioning. I don’t know what exactly caused this change. Please help me in this , I am really hopeless here
@DrSharonSaline
@DrSharonSaline 14 дней назад
I am sorry that you are feeling so hopeless. Does your school offer any support services? it seems like you need more assistance than you are receiving. I would also recommend making some changes to your lifestyle to eat healthier, move your body and get the rest you need. Change takes time and patience. Pick one of two things to focus on and start there. Good luck!

I don't know how this has so few "likes"! I took multiple pages of notes on this and plan on clipping portions to send to various people. It helps both me with my fairly new diagnosis of ADHD and has inspired me to help my son newly diagnosed with it as well. Great piece and I will be subscribing and/or following for sure.

this video is great but hard to listen to. there is another commercial every minute and a half. so those of us that try to listen while working, have to stop working way too often to skip the commercials. youtube will continue playing more commercials if we don’t skip. do what you want with this info, but i thought it would be good to share

What are your thoughts on neurofeedback being used to address ADHD symptoms? This was recommended to me recently after being dx with Inattentive subtype, but I'm struggling to find much research on it though for effectiveness.
@DrSharonSaline
@DrSharonSaline Месяц назад
Some people have found it incredibly helpful while others haven't. If you can't or don't want to take medication, it could be worth a try. The research on neurofeedback seem to be mixed but I'm not an expert on this technique.

I often feel like I don't have any spoons left to socialise, or to concentrate on/engage with what friends are saying or want to talk about. I never hear this being spoken about, so maybe it's not an adhd thing, maybe it's a me thing 🤔 😳
@DrSharonSaline

No I think many people with ADHD are so overwhelmed by dealing with the demands of daily living that there's nothing left for socializing. You are not alone.

I have ADHD and I often feel anxiety because my brain can’t triage what thing that needs doing is most important and what things don’t have to be done right this minute and it feels like everything regardless of how important it is needs to be done right this minute so the more things there are the more overwhelmed I feeland when people tell me that it doesn’t have to be done right this minute and we’re not doing anything at all even though stuff needs doing regardless of how prioritized it should be it causes me incredible anxiety
@DrSharonSaline
@DrSharonSaline 3 месяца назад
Thanks for sharing. This is a common problem for people with ADHD. I think this anxiety comes from the difficulty of deciding what's urgent (time related) and what's important (value related). I find that making a chart with tasks in one column, time to work on it in another and due dates in a third helps my clients (and myself) reduce this anxiety.

One small thing I found that helps with not forgetting stuff is grouping activites, for example a few years ago I grouped putting deodorant on with putting socks on in my morning routine, I can't leave the house without socks, so I also won't leave the house without deodorant

Thank you for taking the time to provide support and advice for us women with adhd.❤ I grew up being told I was capable and so smart and couldn’t have adhd. By everyone, family, friends, even teachers and school counselors. Despite struggling with keeping up with assignments and focusing in classes. So resources like this are so affirming and needed. I am 27 just diagnosed and I feel like I know nothing on how to help myself. However resources like this, free, supportive, and informative are truly helping not only in managing my adhd but also my internalized shame, and guilt. Thank you so much!❤

And by the time I work through the work list, I feel energized enough to cycle through again and spend another five minutes on each category. Making the goal this small helps me feel like I accomplished something, rather than feeling overwhelmed. Finishing tasks is such a struggle, especially with young ones wanting my attention.❤

For cleaning, I've found 5 minute timers help me get around to everything....tidying a room, starting laundry, unloading or reloading the dishwasher, taking out trash. Even if 5 minutes doesnt take care of the entire mess, it is much better than me hyper focusing on sanitizing my kitchen cabinets!😂

Why I'd have a problem with initiaton? When I'm not planned of a task in advance. It seems too complicated. It generates repelling emotions. My solution: I have created a task routine of say 15 mins which works for you which includes music, timer, a dice game etc. I just follow it and the task gets started and once it's started, I gain momentum

Ironically, I’m watching this only a few minutes after I broke down into hyperventilating and crying because I got frustrated and overwhelmed while watching how-to videos about starting a RU-vid channel and ruminating about how many things I need to do to get my life in order and achieve my goals. I wish there was medication to help me achieve the necessary clarity and courage to stop being so inhibited in life but I suspect that’s self-deceptive thinking (focusing on the outcome vs. the longterm process and having a psychological dependence on substances) If by chance you see this comment and have any thoughts on medication options for someone that suspects they have inattentive ADHD combined with social anxiety disorder, I’m all ears! I’m looking for a psychiatrist near me but I even get overwhelmed with that process and usually back out.

I think that more you can break things down into small, doable parts, the higher the chance of getting started and feeling a sense of progress. Dr. William Dodson reports positive results with nonstimulants like guanfacine and clonidine.
