how can someone waste our time with questions, which are only asked because he likes to hear himself talking, while jonny gives us a priceless lesson in what it means to be a musician 🎉

"Jeannine" by Duke Pearson, composed c. 1960, if you mean the first song Peter and Steve play together.

I’m gonna have to look for a part two of this video, because as soon as he said, “black men in American… slavery,” it started to fade out real quick. Hahahahaha

I’m assuming the chatterboxes in the audience are serious music students. Maybe a course in Jazz etiquette is in order. A world class player like Peter Bernstein playing some beautiful shit, and they are just chatting away. Anyhoo… it’s great to hear two of my favourite players sounding great. A real pleasure to hear this once the audience settled down.

Carl, Watching & listening so close to the extraordinary musical conversation between Bill Charlap,; never heard him better... and added to that, the magic from both you and David, Ellie and I where in musical heaven! Thank you! Jeff w/ the boots you liked.

You could ask peter about the weather, and he would make up a whole philosophy and come up with ingenius thoughts on how the weather relates to jazz and music. Such a great guy

He mentions Gary Campbell, but some of this stuff is from Hal Galpers book "Forward Motion" the direction thing is talked about there, that there is a fixed number of combinations.

[Translation] Post-Evans lyricism and poetic sentiment, and a technique lucid enough to bring those inner aesthetics to life. If only he had continued to make albums beyond City of Rhythm, using this abundance of natural talent... 😵‍💫 Socially It may be an "You reap what you sow" issue, but his forfeit is a great loss to the jazz world...

this dude is the Church of Jazz! period. ppl will say he's "white" and "not black." his playing and his faithfulness to the folkways prove that both categories are false and deleterious conjurings of the satan. CHURCH!

I never heard of this guy, but my god he’s so right. I’ve seen awesome technical drummers that are horrible to listen to with a band. Sort of weird I have always hummed when I play even while alone.
