Have you used this on a flight? How are the handles? DO yuo think the handles could carry some weight? I plan to put my pet on top in a carrier, I am not sure if the handles could support that kind of weight leaning to it.
Hi Travel-itch, Nice and cool video, as well as your previous one. I own the Snoppa Vmate and downloaded the software latest - today - version (2-0-4-7). It seems they have fixed some issues but unfortunately not one that makes the gimbal useless for me: this terrible red and blurred spot that spreads all over the center of the image. I'm afraid it is a hardware problem and color grading is not really effective to correct it. If you pay attention to this, all the videos shot with the Vmate are reddish, especially at the center of the image. What do you think about this?
Thank you. Are you getting this red spot on the footage recorded or just on the touch screen? In previous firmwares there was a spot in the center of touch screen right after charging the camera. It desappeared after a few minutes, probably when the battery cooled down. If the spot in on your footage them it must be hardware problem. I suggest sending a video to support to get a replacement.
Thank you Travel-Itch for your answer. The red spot appears on the app (id. on the screen of my smartphone) AND on the recorded video. I have thought about a heating problem and this is one of the reasons why I never used it for more than 2-3 minutes each time... thinking that it would get worse after that and would logically not cool down by itself. All my shootings were only 1080p/50fps or 25fps, nothing really demanding for the hardware. I shall follow your advice and try to see what happens after more minutes using the device, which I never did. Therefore, the problem will still be that I have to wait before getting the right condition to shoot, and that will make me ask for a replacement. Thanks again.
@@oceanbeat Thank you Travel-Itch for your answer. I have some news regarding the matter here below. First of all, I would like to state that I am a professional film maker and that my interest in devices such as the SNOPPA VMATE is that they could enable me to film objects that are out of reach when using my professional equipment. I need to include this kind of footages (always very short ones like 2-4 seconds each) in my films. Due to the fact that they can represent 1 or 2 % of every movie, the quality is important but does not need to match exactly with the rest of the movie. I never considered action cameras because of there too wide FOV and also because I always control the image on a monitor, like you know we do in the professional world. Whatsmore, I know the limitations of small sensors compared to larger ones and the difference in rendering. Consequently I know what to expect from consumer devices. For one year, I have been using the OSMO POCKET with a Sony tablet, but that was hoping a second generation with a larger sensor and higher bitrate would be launched by DJI, which did not happen so far. This is the reason why, when I read the specs of the SNOPPA VMATE, I thought I should try it. As I told you before, when I noticed that every footage I had done showed a red zone (generally in the center of the image but that could move around + an overall red cast) I checked all the videos shot with SV and posted on RU-vid. They all have this defect, to a more or less visible entend depending on the subject, the lighting conditions, and the editing work. Whatsmore, it is also visible that the automatic white balance (which I never use since I always use manual settings) is not reliable and changes with no acceptable reason within the same scene. I was ready to send my SV back (bought from AMAZON) when I saw that a new firmware had been issued today, May 17. Although the previous updates had failed at fixing the issues, I decided to make this last try. And guess what? The first problem I have mentioned (the main one according to my needs) is now fixed. The overall red cast is still there but being overall, it can easily be fixed in editing. Since I do not use the sound of the camera, I am not bothered by its very poor quality. The conclusion of all this is that I shall keep my SV, hoping that the future firmware updates will not be the "2 steps forward and 1 step backward" type and that the problem will not reappear. Apart from this I like the manual focusing possibility (seems that SV is the only pocket gimbal camera featuring it) and regret the lack of a manual speed setting. I can still see some issues like the fact that the image of any footage looks as if it had been enlarged (150% or more) but hope this will be fixed to in a very near future. Finally, I would like to mention that if the device at today's stage can be used for limited specific needs like mine, it is not ready yet for being used by vloggers or people who would like to have their footage ready to use right out of the camera. Hope you understood me correctly since English is not my mother tongue.
