Although the objective here is spot on to what’s been needed with these stands, I’m not sold until I can see how you can still easily get the seat where you want it when climbing, standing, or packing.
I bought a TREEWALKER climber about 12 years ago. It has all of these major features. With the rifle rest off and the net seat its about 17lbs. I think this Summit will probably about 22 lbs.+. I’m glad to see they ditched the yellow locking levers. Those were NEVER needed. My Viper SD never needed that because when your cable is locked, your cable is locked. More noise with the system they ditched with those locking hitch pins. Port your cable channel openings with epoxy putty and the cables go in and out much quieter with less snags. Seems Summit might be running out if ideas. Their last few attempts of innovation were safety recalled. Love my Viper SD however. Net seat, 3rd hand stabilizer straps and bow holder along with a Doyle’s gear hoist it’s amazing but still the heaviest climber I own.
I’m not interested in this product, but i do respect the primitive roots I come from as a human. While I’m not your intended audience, I think it’s badass that you went with archery instead of rifles.
I added this accessory to my summit. It holds my bow in place great. While packing my stand in the accessory, digs into the back of my shoulder blade and is extremely uncomfortable. I personally don't want to take it on and off the stand while packing it in and out. Save the money and just buy a hook to mount in a tree. Maybe mine is mounted in the wrong spot, but there's nothing that shows you how to correctly mout it to the stand. I came to this video to find out if I had mounted it incorrectly. This video is terrible. 😂
New to the climber world and put it to use this hunting season. ru-vid.comUgkxlQ7TDIrnnSXXbRgFFaxqwullRJJIuYAs I felt safe while climbing up and down a tree. It did take some time getting used to climbing and descending the tree. Once I figured it out I was comfortable going in climbing a tree knowing I was going to be up a tree quickly and most importantly quite not scaring every deer out of my area. I am 6’2” and 240 lbs, fit and comfort were great. I bow hunt and found no issues hunting from it. It is a little bulky to carry in and out of the woods vs some of the smaller open front climbers but I thought it was worth the bulk/weight due to ease of climbing (using the rail to sit on) and comfort for long sits.

So u can use these as both a tether and a lineman's rope? I just bought a saddle and the guy at the store recommended I just get 2 of these and use them for a tether and a belt instead of buying the over priced latitude lineman's belt and tree tether. Wanted almost 150 bucks for both and he said they were no different than 2 summit lineman's belts except that the summits only come with 1 carabineer instead of 2. Was fine because I already had 1 of the exact same carabineers that comes with it and I bought an extra better one just in case.
Just bought this mini for exactly these reasons mentioned. I tried nearly everything but in the end SD Viper climbers become the most efficient. This mini solved many of my packability concerns.
I have one! Very comfortable when back is to the tree, but when you face the tree, your back digs into the stand loop even with pad. You would have to modify the seat loop to support the top of the seat, in order for it to be comfortable leaning back, or maybe an aluminum tube rigid back brace wrapped in pool floaties and camo? One of my next projects, because I really like the idea of hiding behind the tree. Also! , when climbing with seat in front of you towards tree, it’s so thick, it’s almost like climbing with your child in the way😏 I would appreciate any tips and tactics learned by other hunters, that makes this stand more user-friendly. I love the comfort of the seat and knowing at 350lb capacity, I have some overkill Weight capacity. It does climb very quietly, if you take your time and not too bad on the back pack under couple hundred yards. I will be ordering a Sherpa wheel kit, to turn this bad boy into a cart it in, cart it out multitool!!
Just got the Viper SD, the directions blow. More warning labels then instructions that are for all stands, very confusion. Looks like nice stand, focus on quick set-up guide for that stand. Will up date if hanging from a tree. P.S. would appreciate made in US vs the other name on it. Put America before profit, I would spend more.
I had one of these a few years ago, and would’ve kept it if it didn’t have a 5.25” gap at the back of the platform that prevented standing comfortably leaning against the tree.
@@gfy86 you still have a big gap in the back of the platform that prevents standing close to the tree. All the Openshot did for me was make me miss my old Lone Wolf hand climber I’d sold when taking a hiatus from bow hunting many years ago. But you don’t have to listen to me. Although the Open Shot wasn’t addressed directly by Lone Wolf Custom Gear in the new release of their new “crossover climber”, most of the issues with it were. I have a couple of Summit Vipers and my go to is my Viper Mini. Summit makes a lot of other good products as well. However, I’d never recommend the Open Shot to anyone.
Im looking for a good safety harness with legit linesman's belt. Also serve me as a deer drag. The loops on the harness in the vid dont give me the confidence that this piece of gear will keep me safe for the next 15 years. One frayed stich and id be skeptical. There has to be something out there that meets my needs!! Without trying it on I guess I can't say for sure. Anyone have any input? If so ty for your time.
