A huge thanks for this video! I just got my new gear and Im prepering for this operation on my 730. Ill admit Im a bit nervous but with the help of this video I hope it will be fine
Hello sir, Can a singer 3314!c singer that doesn't take cams be converted to a singer 3317 that does take cams by changing it to a multi cam mechanism bloke the singer 3317
Nice video. I have a 1130 from 1986, I think. The mecanism, sleeve, that is involved with the feeder, i s worn out. Part number 000177.71.00 Where can I find a new, ore a used one?
can you instruct me on how to open all the covers on my bernina 770 QE, I need to clean inside completely cuase a did a lot of sewing with canvas that was treated with something that let a lot of dust all over, please advice, my bernina dealer is too far away and i don't have a car.
I am having an issue where my Bernina 830 won't move up and down. I got it on ebay but it was just serviced before it was shipped to me and I've seen a video of it working taken right before it was shipped. I've done all the trouble shooting I can find online and from friends, it is out of bobbin mode. (bobbin mode does work) It also can move left to right. But any piece associated with the needle moving up and down is rock solid not budging. Do you have any videos about this topic?
Mr. lund… sorry to hear you have passed away! Thank you for sharing your knowledge about these beautiful machines… Sincere condolences to your friends and family. RIP
hello, i am very sorry to hear that another irreplacable Galactic Pot-Healer is in better place now. Especially that myself i am struggling with correct setting of my bernina 730. unfortunately in Polando i haven't found a one living soul who would have any idea about servicing bernina. had to get manual, setting book, exploded view and even tools catalogues in order to replace camstack and vertical gear. all i need are technical dimensions of servicing tools. I would really be grateful and appreciate if somebody please help me with a tool referencing number N32NU2. This is a needle-like looking tool used for centering oscilating block of a zigzag operation. This place seems like the last spot i could get help. Anyhow i wish You all Happy Every New Year and much healt, wealth and PEACE! Whoop Whoop!
What a super video, Neal. I have this precise problem with one of our machines, and while I could have fumbled through some of the more basics aspects of the repair, I'd have come unstuck at several points along the way without your guidance. I'm ordering the part tonight and will post my - hopefully successful - outcome once the job's complete. Articulate and beautifully presented. Thank you!
Thank you so much! We are glad the video was helpful. Unfortunately, Neal passed away last year after a long fight with his health. But please feel free to tell us of your outcome!
Thank you for this video! I want to repair a beautiful model 707 with a cracked vertical gear. But I have only found a replacement top vertical gear as a helical gear which would require a mating helical gear on the main horizontal shaft. I have not found a straight bevel replacement vertical shaft gear. Do you know of a source for the straight bevel gear for this application? If not, do you know where I can purchase a matching set?
Thank you for the amazing detailed video! I didn’t understand any of it but that’s ok :) I was watching it to hopefully find out if maybe the timing is the reason my 830 record model is tearing upper thread very often when I am going slow turning all sorts of corners m while sewing dolls etc. if you know what it could be-I greatly appreciate your response!
Hi there, I've got a Bernina 730, I've changed the stack cam gear as well as the vertical gear, I also adjusted the needle timing from the vertical gear and the zigzag and straight stitches are working well, however when I use the lever to use the other patterns, it doesn't do the other patterns correctly because the timing of the needle is different. Could you help me to tell me what I did wrong and what I should do, thanks L.
I’ve recently got one of these machines as a gift, I’m very excited to use it! I’m having a problem where the needle is off centred and hitting the back of the plate before going into the bobbin hole, any tips on trouble shooting?
Hi Neil my husband changed the beval gear on my Bernina 730 he doesn't understand when you tighten the screws , you said hand tighten them now he can not set the tention and thighten finaly
Hello mr Lund, I am trying to fix my mum’s 60y old Bernina 740 favorit. I think I have the needle timing correct ( thank you for the video :-)), but after 4 or y5 tuns on the wheel, the upper thread gets stuck somewhere in the bobbin case, and breaks. I’ve managed to pick up the bobbin thread a few times, but no stitches were made. Because of the age of the machine, I don’t find a lot of information on the net. Can you help me? Thanks, Gunther
Hi Neil, I'm loving your videos. I'm finding a dearth of technicians who can fix my 1130. Now I have a whole stable of venerable Berninas, 117, 530, 540, 730, 1130, and now a 217. I just wish I had heard you properly about oils and greases that you used. Please can you let us know what they are? The old girls need a bit of lube after sitting around for many years! Thanks, Mandy (New Zealand)
I am sorry to tell you that Neal Iund passed away last year after a long illness. Where are you? I may have a clamp and gauge you can buy. However, we are not in the sales business. I am just the video editor.
@@SewTechnicalI'm so sorry to hear this. He truly was the most wonderful technical advisor on the matter of sewing machines. He will be sorely missed. 😢
Great video. I have a bernina 730 record that has a broken pin that rides on the cam cluster. Is it possible to source this item. Hate to have this machine nine functional for such a small part
My respects, Mr Lund! As a total amateur I have succeeded in setting my 2 Bernina 730 Records from the early 1960ies and also to repair the bigger plastic camstack gear on one of them and to change the vertical axle on the same machine, and the set both machines from the beginning of the procedure, following the technician level shop manual "The setting of the Bernina sewing machines models 730, 731, 732". My both machines are of the type 730 Record with 20 ornamental pattern cams, the older one with the disc type thread pre.tension system, the slightly younger one with the hook variant. For now I'm re-setting the older variant of machine after finding that I had some settings basically wrong, which has not hindered this machine to perform quite well for years. Now, looking for perfect needle placement, I think I have detected a problem with the longitudinal needle position (in direction of the fabric advance). The correction need is very small. On page 21 in the manual, part 22, "Centering of needle movement", the text says: "If a longitudinal correction must be made (in direction of the fabric advance), unscrew the bakelite handwheel - - - unscrew the four four frame screws (accessible by means of a long screw driver from the frame cover side by means of a long screw driver from the frame cover side) and press frame into correct position." Could you please help me identify all theese 4 (four) "frame screws". Do all four look the same? What is meant with "press the frame in correct position" (in relation to what?). What is meant with that all 4 screws are accessible with a long screw driver through the "frame cover side"? Is this through the plate under the handwheel, covering the pulleys and drive belts? If not, then through what, as i takes a long screw driver? This is an information I can't find anywhere. Gunnar Pettersson, Finland
Your videos are beyond education! Thanks a lot! I fixed my broken Bernina 830 based on your videos (also the timing was very helpful). One thing that I noticed is that if the selector level finger does not sit properly on the patterns it will jump and make a noise. This may happen due to different dimensions of the new part and the selector finger may tough the neighor patterns causing wear, jump and noise. So I think the lever position ladder had to be also adjusted for the first and the last patterns so that it fit properly on the patterns.
In case you can see this question- I got a 540-1 favorit recently. No surprise it’s a beautiful machine. Other problems have al been sorted except a broken worn wheel meaning zigzag stitch only without pattern stitches. Now got to know here cheap spare parts are readily available, so intend to fix this. But I’ve chucked out the broken part. Do you have the specs of this worm wheel? Diameter, number of teeth etc. Thanks!
From a rather small boat anchor to a great running little machine, thank you I was truly at my wits end. You saved my sanity and my reputation. My customer was told that her Bernina was a sealed unit and never needed oiling, everything was varnished over and all it did was hum when the pedal was pressed. Hours of cleaning later and it is reborn. Many thanks David G. Morgan St. Albans VT.
Thanks, David. We are happy you had a successful repair! I am so sorry to tell you that our chief mechanic, Neal Iund, passed away earlier this year. But anytime we can help, we will be happy to.
I'm sorry for my English. Google help me. 😀 Could you update me your data? Maybe I could to take you my Bernina for maintenance. Thanks a lot. Have a nice day.👋
MM 0 seconds ago Hello. Question: I have a Bernina 830 but it is not that model, it is newer, electronic, with a screen. It has been difficult for me to obtain information about my model to be able to sew. They gave me a used one but I can't find much on RU-vid. The manual I found is not very explanatory. I don't know how to update it or buy the software since I'm not sure about the 830 series. I've seen many videos of similar machines but very few of mine. I'd appreciate your help. I’m in Utah. Cedar Hills.
