Mostly skiing videos from a couple heliskiing trips to Alaska, some catskiing, and resort skiing around Banff/Lake Louise. While I ain't much of a video editor, I love the accessibility of the helmet cam.
first, this is an amazing video. I remember there. The side and back door .We had to tie fluorescent tape on the bindings on the skis and run that up the leg far as once you lot a ski that tape was all you had to find it. That was the late 80's and the worst snow season sunshine had. still great times though
Yea the snow sucked, though when I did go I got extremely lucky! I flew to Banff for one of the last weeks of February, after all my friends told me cancer your trip there’s no snow, lo and behold the biggest dumb of snow that year! Blind dumb luck, but no complaining here. Heal up can’t wait for any more content, hell, I think you should apply as a guide for either sunshine or Louise. Keep up the excellent work👍👍
I think that was gully A that you were going down when your camera cut out - right when it starts to get even steeper. I skied that gully yesterday. Not like you but I did pretty well. You're a great skier!
Brought back some fond memories from Lake Louise 08-09 Season! Recognize all the runs 👍 Not sure if you know these out of bounds ones and I'll try get the names right! Elevator Shaft: One of the thin lines that you can just see on right side of image at 4:40, perpendicular to Boomerang Bowl / Hectors Ridge. ) Then there's White Rabbit off Summit, and Semi-circular bowl + Vortex Chutes (backside off Summit)... The 08/09 Season was not great in terms of snow, but memories for a lifetime ✨ Thanks for this video, and nice 360 off the top 👌💯
Moved to Calgary 1982 was 17 in 1983 my sec time ever skiing I went to forest mountain with some one then that year or next went to sunshine village it was awesome you could ski back to your car with out using the Gondola lift to come back down but at the time there wasn't enough snow on that trail to use at the time miss them times nice video tc stay safe 👍
14:50-15:50 exactly why i dont ever ski some runs, im too fricking fat to do all that hiking, maybe 10 years and 80 pounds ago.... i prefer to fly down the mountain not hike up it
i love the hikes because it gets you away from the crowds, and on poor snow days (like this one was) your best chance of finding at least a couple fresh turns!
I love how light and responsive they are. I demoed a pair alongside 4-5 others and these were by far the most fun. Not too soft so they are stable in the crud and at speeds, but the weight and rocker help in trees, moguls and other tight spots. The one complaint I have about them so far is the top sheet chips and peels, leading me to think they may not last more than a season. I'm keeping my warranty info handy!
@@lopht12 I bought mine in 2018 and found the same issue with the top sheet.I feel the steering on groomers is comparable to a boat. Other then that, yeah I think they're awesome skis!
If you take the other double-black entry right next to Paradise Cornice, do you know what run it leads to? Can't figure it out on the trail map. I was looking at Cornice from the Paradise lift and thought it looked cool, but when turning right at the top i took the other entry right next to it and ended on another face. It scared the shit out of me but i did it in one piece. I'd like to know what it was!
If you didn't turn immediately right as you got off Paradise, and took the second right you probably ended up on ER6. Which is this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dXWVSXObDpE.html ER 6 is how you access the Kiddies (in this video) and Upper 5, which in all my time at Louise I've only seen it open once. Although it's not really steep, it is prone to slides as it's a big open sun-soaked face. Glad you made it out alive!
@@lopht12 Oh thanks, by looking at the map again it makes sense! Always hard to translate a 2D map into big open terrain. It was just my second day at Louise. All i remember is seeing the double-black-steep-rocky sign at the entrance, and that's where i got. I can manage myself, but coming from the east these things are impressive lol. There was someone in front of me and he got down in a few turns, so it gave me courage as i felt less alone haha. Great stuff i will remember.
Way late on this, but that run on upper boomerang was actually a few yards to skier's right of Brownshirt First - basically upper Shoulder Roll. Brownshirt first is right next to the wall; you'd have to have gone a few feet past the closed gate to ski that.
Awesome video, thanks. Hoping to head there this Friday and these are added to the must hit. Any idea if the conditions are decent? C.O.P (Winsport Calgary) was a skating rink today.
I haven't been there since Nov, but heard they got a good dump of snow this week. Even though I imagine only a couple of these will be open this early in the year I'm sure it'll be great, enjoy!
Lovely mountain and snow. I live a sustainable life here on the top of the mountain. Please visit my Channel and Subscribe if you like the content. Cheers.
