I just ordered mine, half a size (EU) smaller than my usual size.. I’m getting a bit scared now they might be a bit too snug, any updates after a couple weeks? Did they loosen up a bit?
The NB drop of these was a total MESS! Four devices used only to get locked in waiting rooms which were all completely random waiting times and then told they were sold out. Really badly planned.
I really liked your explanation about sizing. I had the same thought process when I was purchasing my pair and ended up going a half size down as well.
Yeah, I’m wearing my pair right now and I cannot imagine going TTS for this one. I could imagine wide footers wanting to go TTS, but as a normal width person going half size down was definitely the move as I am breaking them in.
this a great time to release a sneaker like this. With a generation of sneaker heads is hitting their mid 30s and older, everyone's opting for comfort. I know I still jump between a Jordan 1 or some other runner, but this fills in that niche of bloated chunky runners that get you from point a - b
Big facts. I’ve always been into new balances since high school since I used them to run cross country. Now I hold NBs in high regard and would wear them for all day comfort over Jordan’s.
Which distinctive touches differ it from the GR, minus the Jjjound on the heel counter lol? It was a lazy collab. Disappointing compared to the NB collabs
Great analysis as always D1! I can co-sign that D1 has been a New Balance guy since the early 2000s because he would always leave us in the dust during our early morning practice sessions. My favorite Salomon release of the year would have to be the Salomon x atmos XT-6 Stars Collide. My sneaker of the year would have to be the Nike SB Jordan 4 Pine Green and my favorite collab of the year would have to be the Nike SB x Powerpuff Girls. I'm definitely excited to see what heat 2024 will bring us!
hey buddy! i wear 7.5 in 990v3 joe fresh goods and they fit me very comfortable with roomy fit. Planning to buy lapiz lazuli 990v6. should i stick to same size or half size down ?
Hey Bud. I would say generally go with your other 990 sizes. I also have a pair of 990v3 JFG as well as other 990v3's (jjjjound olive) and I do find that the overall length is similar. I would say the width is slightly tighter for my Baklava 990v6 but the safest bet would be to stick with in your case a size 7.5. I also wear size 7.5 for these as well as my 990v3's.
Consider that although the initial cost is $170 before tax, these impeccably designed shoes represent a lasting investment. With proper care and maintenance, they are durable enough to be worn for many years, and in some cases, even a decade, before needing replacement.
Great vid! I was looking at getting the oiled leather style of bostons because with the suede you can't polish them up. Can these be polished to protect and remove scuffs? cheers mate :)
Hey there! oiled leather all the way. The oiled aspect of the leather allows for water resistance on superficial drop instances. And you can use different waxes on the market to further condition and clean them. There are ways to resist water on suede such as mink oil though. In addition the overall structure of the clogs retain the shape more and for longer for the oiled leather model.
I just got mine in the mail. I ordered from the Birkenstock website. I ordered the Boston soft bed in the oiled leather, Habana Brown. I ordered the correct size. ❤
You can go about conditioning your leather with a product like the dansko beeswax cream, and make sure you apply to both of your clogs. The color will be slightly darker as a result but you are effectively reconditioning your leather. Look online and tutorials on what appropriate brush to use for this.
I’ve had the exact same pair for a couple of months now and they are by far my FAVORITE pairs of shoes/clogs whatever that goes on your feet eh at I’ve ever owned I freakin love my birkenstock Boston’s
Grabbed a pair last year but ordered my usual size but too big. Finally managed to grab a pair of the oiled habana last week in my size, love them- the thickness and finish on leather is stunning. I have a mineral oil and beeswax blend i use for wood but wonder if would make a good finish for the shoes
I was recommended the dansko beeswax conditioner by my shoe store. They applied some on my pair after I got some water damage on it (as a sample ) and it worked like charm!
@@district1 Thank you for the information. Did the beeswax conditioner darken your oiled leather Boston? I'm thinking to get the Oiled Leather (Habana Brown) Tokio Shearling.
That pull tab isn’t optional really it’s either you open it like that or you destroy the packaging . Love this drop btw! I bought 2 boxes and got Storm twice 😔. But was able to get rid of my second pair and get my first choice 1980 wolverine! Can’t wait for it to come in .
i like the unique materials used for the whole shoe. I'm not a fan of the bungee cord laces, but just swap those out for some regular nike sb grey or black laces and they'll look 100000x better IMO.
