Superb video just what I needed to blow the dust off my carder, I have purchased from you at wonderwool your colours are amazing it's been good to see your business grow . Well done and thank you.
This is absolutely the best video on creating a plying bracelet. I had been extremely frustrated by many others who came CLOSE, but NOT clear! Yours is beautiful and easy. Thank you! Note: I was not able to skip the bra ad, and it went on forever, and even when done I could not access the second half of your video. I will try another day. I just wanted you to know in case it was something at your end. Could be my end. I will definitely check out your other videos.
This is jam packed with clear direction and explanation, excellent video demonstration, and such exciting techniques! I can't wait to try this, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and techniques! You're an absolute gem! 👏👏👏
Last year I bought an EEW Nano 2 here in UK. I love spinning on it but those bobbins are tiny! I bought an extra 3 bobbins with it but they were very quickly full. The Nano 2 comes with the inline switch, plastic yarn guides, the knob for the brake band and suction feet. The only thing I dislike about the Nano is the in line switch is on the right side. I am left handed and it gets tricky to use the switch. I suppose to make them able to change from right to left and vice versa would add considerably to the price. I can live with it! I have multiple disabilities and can't always treadle on my lovely Majacraft Rose which is what made me look at e spinners. Now I have an Ashford e spinner 3 and have already spun loads on it. I measured it and it is nearly twice as long as my Nano so it is not huge but it is heavy. Its size is not that different from the Hanson, a tad smaller in fact. The Ashford is 10. 25" long by 5.5" wide whereas the Hanson is 10.5" long by 6.25" wide. Pretty much the same. I love both spinners. I agree about the large bobbins. If they are full it is arm dropping to use the niddy noddy! For that reason I never fill the bobbins right up on my Ashford but they do hold so much more. I have a skein winder somewhere! I will have to root it out.
So. Much. Awesome. Info! I've learned so much from just one video. I've been doing everything wrong haha. I was wondering why my Batts come off my drum feeling like a quilt 😂. I would pull it off the drum and it would like quintuple in size. I probably could've felted it and it would've been a twin sized blanket lol. I also noticed, your Batts don't have the little loops on the back of it from the tines. Is that because I'm putting too much on my drum? I normally use a packing brush and I'm thinking that could have something to do with it as well.
I suspect it's due to the way you're feeding your fibre on to the licker in, if you rewatch the video I think I do spend a bit of time discussing how to prepare the fibre before it goes on to the drums to give you the smoothest possible results. I always use a packer brush, and that won't cause the loops.
WOW, I just bought a drum carder (Ashford Wild Carder), I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pleased I found your tutorial, have learned so much already x thank you x
walther-spinnrad.de/epages/da136665-a8e9-4053-8704-ceccc7c5d3cf.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=Categories My model is no longer made, and I'm not sure if it's possible to have them shipped internationally.
I love how candid you are about spinning on the various wheels. I have discovered that each spinner has a manner of spinning and a spinner either connects with the wheel or not. The wheel I struggle with works better for another spinner.
I don't think it has an actual name. Just one would be called a larks head, so effectively it's 2 larks heads stacked on top of each other, but in opposite directions.
My drum carder has been stored for several years. It is out on my counter now working. Thank you for reminding me what a great tool I have and for teaching me some new exciting things to do with it.
I think this is the most helpful drum carder demonstration I have seen, thankyou Katie. I really want to try using a diz, I have never had much luck in the past but your description is so detailed I will try again - but oh, your poor fingers on those tines!
Try using a small gauge crochet hook to help you put the tension cord on your lazy Kate 😊 (Hold the tight cord “out” with the hook while you get the cord “on” the bobbin, then guide the hook to the bobbin allowing the cord to slip into the groove)
Hi there! I have an Ashford e-spinner and I love it! I too have a disability which makes treadling on traditional wheels almost impossible. I use the on/off control with my hand. My e-spinner sits on my breakfast bar so I can spin while I’m (supposed to be working 🤣) in the kitchen. Although this spinner takes jumbo bobbins, I made some “adaptations” so it will take all my smaller bobbins too.
I liked the methode of only starting with a thin layer when taking off a rolag. That is a new-to-me method, and makes a whole lot of sense. Thank you for showcasing it.
Thank You for an excellent colour dyeing tutorial😊 I just received this colourway today and it was great fun to follow how You actually made it. I didn’t quite get whether You used orange or scarlet for the peachy colourway? It was quite interesting how You used black&brown in these light colours . Thanks again, Katie
Orange and Scarlet are the same dye. The official dye name is Scarlet, but it actually produces an orange colour, so when I think about it in colour building terms that's how I refer to it.
I did some woollen fairy lights last year - following the instructions of your video. And revisit your video this year and successfully did two more. Warm white lights covered by white Polwarth fibre look like lights under snow. Thank you so much for your inspiration!
Thank you for the informative dye section. In the future, please turn on the closed caption feature at your end. And maybe if you can a covered/muffed microphone so we can hear and understand what it is you're saying. Thank you again for taking the time to show us how to mix dyes and such. Take care, be well ~ 🤗
Unfortunately closed captions aren’t yet an option on live-streaming with my current number of subscribers. If I get more subscribers I can use it, but until then it’s just not a service available to me. Auto captions are available as soon as the video is processed by you tube, but again that’s limited by the services offered by you tube. At the time of your comment they weren’t yet ready, and this beyond my control. A separate microphone sounds wonderful, but not in the budget unless I add a premium to every pack to cover the cost of the purchase, and in times of economic hardship that seems to be unwise. I offer these videos for free, and that limits to resources that I can put in to them. For all my paid courses I offer corrected captions and also recheck sound quality on all videos to ensure it gives a good experience. They are filmed on a high quality camera, but that doesn't work for hosting live sessions, these are instead reliant on using the built in camera on my laptop. These videos are free and as such I lack the resources to offer more as a single person business who is trying very hard to keep production as affordable as possible for everyone.
@@hilltop-cloud I completely understand. No matter what, I will continue to support and watch every video you produce. Fingers crossed more and more folks will subscribe to your channel. Again, thank you and be well ~ Lacy
