I dabble in various hobbies with a heavy focus on toys that make sounds. I am not a musician. My genre of choice: 'Hamalorian': Havin A Mess Around.
This channel has and will always be sponsored by my full time job. Therefore, my job is never to influence you to buy anything nor use gear to its fullest potential. Do not as I do, do as you do.
I do not believe in rules except the following: 1. Have as much fun as possible. 2. Inspire you to do the same.
I have a few thousands hours in EVE Online which is often called "spreadsheets in space", so I think I would be cool with the Tracker+. Never ever on a computer though, it must be hardware. Trackers seem to thrive with muscle memory and you just don't get that in-the-box. I trust you will create fun jams with this.
Seriously, your videos (and music) are awesome but your disclaimers very tiring. You don't need to do this. It's very tiring in each video to disclaim "you re not a pro", "this is not a tutorial", etc. Nobody cares, we just want your thoughts :)
I really like trackers and many might say, "Oh, this is like making music with a spreadsheet." To me, it's like making music and playing a video game at the same time. I have the NERDSeq for eurorack, so that's how I know about trackers. As far as this goes, I hope Polyend sticks with this device and matures it without abandoning it and offering a totally new device in two years. It seems like they (it might be only one dev), are searching for the perfect kit. There was the Tracker, The Play, The Medusa, The MIDI-CV module (would have really liked to get my hands on that), the Anywhere and the Preset. All are yanked off the market after a short time. Before I buy this, I want to see it grow and sustain for a bit.
@@UrbanTarantulas from a sequencer perspective, there is no comparison. OXI wins all day. The problem with my answer is it’s bias and it’s where I’m at in this journey. For others, it doesn’t compare well and they’ve moved on.
@krazywabbit Thanks for getting back to me so fast! I just got the Oxi One recently and have been getting the hang of the basics. I'm the type who skips the manual, so figuring out some of the deeper stuff has been a bit challenging. I stumbled across your channel and ended up binging a bunch of your videos last night. Keep it up, man-having fun with the gear is what it's all about! I'm a keys player who loves to improvise, and I'm on a mission to create some cool background sequences to play over with my synths. Do you have any recommendations for Oxi One videos that aren't just reviews? There are so many reviews out there, but not enough content showing people actually using the gear to make music while explaining the process. It’s either that or Loopop's ultra-detailed breakdowns about things like fader feel and pad color! I think RU-vid could use more content of people just jamming and enjoying their setups instead of so much talking and reviewing and comparing.
If you follow the herd and buy the shiny new thing, you'll sound like the rest of the herd. If you combine what you have in unique new ways, you'll have the sound of a Unique Wabbit.
Buy what’s in the box, don’t believe the hype, or maybe just wait and see. I see this more as folks with too much money and also companies over promising for rewards now.
Unfortunate I missed the stream. I enjoyed your previous one talking about your app choices. I'm about 10 minutes into this replay, I need to build a space from the ground up. Your desk choice looks very useful.
@@Cacophonous_Cat thanks. It’s fun to share our stories and learn. I hope you have fun along your journey and take a break to play every now and then in your space building 👍🏽
