Jonathan "Kimo" is an excellent dancer. Always was, and always will be. He shared this hula with me back in 1984! A lifetime of dance... me ke aloha nui iā ʻoe e kuʻu hoa!
Glad to watch your version of this mele. Kumu Cody was generous to share this mele to my halau, and we gladly dance this song as well, as we honor the mighty waves at Kalapana.
Wow you really have a great voice. Fabulous little Song too ! Bless your Mum . P.s. this one here a good version as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TJUoVkGM4jY.html
@@koawarrior2352 Aloha, he was a wonderful kumu and I was so honoured to learn from him and to dance with him when I was Kalani several times. He told me, that one of his ancestors was a chanter for King Kalākaua. With Jonathan's permission I shared his choreography of Hōlei with my hula group "No Ka Ho'omana'o Ana Ia Berlin" in Berlin, Germany, and we still dance it. Mahalo nui loa.
Yes, that is correct, the guy in front was our kumu. You can see he is the best, and just a hair ahead of us. I danced for him for nearly 3 years at Kalani Honua on Big Island. I believe this is his original choreography. He was a treasure and a terror and much loved. Jonathon ‘Kimo’ Lopez RIP
@@UkuleleDavey Aloha Davey! Thanks, everything is fine. Last weekend we talked about the Hula in our garden, when you and RichHeart were in Berlin. We're just building a new house there. Aloha, Thomas
that was freakin' awesome man I loved it and you have a kind of country blues sound to your voice that sounds really unique you did a great job on that song you nailed it brah Happy Holidays
Missy is so adorable , but you should see her up close in Hula class she is a beautiful hula dancer and so is Tiki and Claire, Hey Hula Sisters you gals R O C K ! ! ! ! ! ! I know, I'm behind you in Hula class.
I have been searching for and wanting to learn this hula. This is one of my favorite songs and hula. I have a Kumu here in Minneapolis that i will also share this with her and the halau. Much Mahalo's and Aloha
Aloha! They are bobble heads, though they bobble at the waist. The big Hawaiian fella is Bradda Ed, available at WalMart etc (hey, we only have WalMart in Hilo, and many residents work there, so we shop), as is the other hula boy. The smiling haole was a special find and has become my logo. Also found at WalMart, I have never found any more than the first three. I repainted the lei more colorful and his eyes to match my own. Mahalo for your kind comments.
great.. i will be on my way to stay with you for a while... just a few months.. i can sleep in your hut... that works for me.. that was an invite wasn't it?? jk jk.. GOD i love hawaii! i am going to be on Oahu for my wedding October 10th
