Hey, do you think TGAB Language Arts Level 7 could be use for a 8th grader without supplementing? I am from the UK and i have never used it before. Thanks
Just found your channel and I love it. I’m currently pulling myself out of a funk and getting back into homeschooling. Our kids are around the same age, would we message one another? I would love to get your advice!
How do you do homeschool without private or umbrella?? Do you have to do the evaluation?? What if you até certified teacher?? Does that count as a professional growth development??
Not sure what you are referring to with your last question. But to homeschool with out an umbrella you just do an annual evaluation. My friend said since she was a certified teacher her kids didn’t need to do the evaluations bc she could submit the paperwork herself but you might want to double check that.
Though the Good and the Beautiful does not describe Level 7 Math as Pre-Algebra, Level 7 does indeed teach both Pre- Algebra and Algebra concepts; especially course books 3 and 4 of the set.
Do you grade their work daily? We use the good and beautiful too! Although I’m thinking of going to a math that grades for me as I have 6 kids 😂 but level 7 does look good 🤔
Wow that's a lot of grading lol I try to grade daily but honestly sometimes I forget and go through three days at once which makes him have a day where he does any corrections.
My child is using Beast academy, and I use TGATB to supplement if I feel needs more practise on something. I think the constant review of TGATB would frustrate him as he hates school worksheets when he knows stuff. So this way, we review (or relearn a topic if not understood in beast academy) when we need to and he sees the sense of it then. Ie. We will probably do TGATB fractions lessons as beast academy,s approach was different didnt click with me/him. But usually BA has been good for him. He is halfway through grade 5 (10yrs old) and starting level 4 as we started halfway through level 3 since he had missed so much school/ease into learning BA's style of math. Ba focus alot on understanding why.
We did love Beast Academy too, I just realized that my son did better with more review. I'm so glad you found something that works for you. It really is a fantastic program and my son did enjoy it much more than the math he is doing now, but what was the point if he wasn't retaining it, you know. Will you be moving to art of problem solving for Algebra when he's done?
I looked everywhere for you online and I can;t find it :( I got it for free a the giveaway table at my co-op but I did find this one that seems cute too amzn.to/4cjdi3b
😊 this year we will. Last year we didn’t. It depends on how much time we had off during the year. However I gave my kids off this upcoming week then we will go on vacation at the end of July and so we will work hard until then.
Hello, I know it’s a bit of a ways out but you mentioned that once your sons done with level 7 language arts he will move onto TGATB highschool level 1. I see they have a book study for level 8. Are you skipping that all together? And do you know what you will do for highschool level 4 where TGATB doesn’t have a level 4? Thank you much!
So I decided that I will do a book study before moving on into the high school. They are redoing their high school so if I need to do a couple of book studies first I will do that. I know in public high schools they analyze books so this is a good skill to have. And TGTB Does have a level 4 by the way.
I looked on their site and there’s only highschool level 1,2, and 3. I wrote them recently about it and asked if they were planning on coming out with a level 4 and they said no. They’ve decided to go a different direction and create a few half credit courses which aren’t released yet. They do have an honors book course … is that what you’re referring to? But I don’t believe it’s worth a full credit to use as an English 4? Thank you!
This video was super hopeful! We are looking at switching to Apologia Science and bible for high school. I appreciate how you show the notebook inside and explain the options ThANKS
SO very helpful. The phone is the biggest waste of time, so I love your idea of putting it on do not disturb and only allowing calls from important people. Thank you for all these tips. My daughter and I both have ADHD and this will be a big help for both of us!
Hi there!! I love this Vlog. I love following you . Today is my first HS Convention in orlando FL, I had a quick question regarding a teacher's ID Badge?? Where would I get this? I asked a Lady from FPEA booth and she had no idea what i was talking about. I hope you get this message the exhibit opens up at 5pm and I cannot wait. I hope you have a wonderful day.
🥰 I’m so sorry that I never saw this. I wouldn’t know where to guide you anyway bc when I went last year, it wasn’t there. 😢 did you end up finding it? How was your experience?
I wanted to ask what schedule do you think would be best Iam need to revamped my homeschool I feel like were playing catch up and I dont know if he will be ready for 6 th grade I was trying to see if you think I should teach La/Reading and math for 3 days and science and social atudies for the other two days out the week? We use to do powerhomeschool but it just been too much work and overwhelming so I just been have him do work out of school books.
Hey I’m sorry I took so long to respond. First I want to say, remember when we think we are behind we are not behind bc we don’t need to follow anyone else’s standards or grade levels. Try to remember that and go at your pace. With that being said, I feel you bc we are “behind” for where I want my kids to be bc we moved and all but we are homeschooling 6 weeks on and 1 week off all year. That will give us adequate work time and breaks as well and time to catch up. I would recommend doing math and language arts every day but alternating science and history, possibly doing Science Monday, Wednesday and Friday and History on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would also start with the most challenging subject first and knock it out of the way. It’s what they call “eat the frog.” And in between the hard subjects, slide in something fun or simple like reading out loud to them or solo reading, maybe an educational game or some little assignments like math facts, spelling games, or handwriting or typing. Try to celebrate any holidays by learning about them and trying to sprinkle a little bit of fun here and there. I have a playlist on adding fun to your homeschool. I’m going to make a video this week on how I schedule my home school and try to add variety and fun, so be on the lookout for that. I hope this helps you.
Agreed 100%! It's all we use as well. Good and the Beautiful has been a God-send. Life would be much less good and beautiful without it! I love this time of year when we're winding-down and taking things a bit easier. We go all year round with homeschooling but the summer feels like a bonus since the public school kids vegetate, then spend 3 months the next year making up for it 😜 Enjoy your summer!
So true! Homeschooling is the best gift you can give your child. Nothing else comes close. Keep rockin'. Hope your move was successful and relatively stress-free!
you will need one workbook for each child unless you want to make copies of the pages or rewrite the problems on a white board or something. They can however share the manipulatives assuming they are doing math at different times.
