Some nice fish, the deformed one always amazes me what some fish go through and still manage to survive I fancy road trip to the Trent at some point what weight lead do you generally need to hold bottom, just getting into the barbel fishing and building up my gear
Crickey 10oz think me 1.75 lb rod may struggle with that lol probably don’t need another excuse to buy more rods assume need bigger reel than 4000 as well

Coming down on fri-mon just wondered if u had any tips wheres best to right of the a1 bridge or left as came last year and went left no barbel but a load of bream love the videos great angling fella just a few tips a water prob quite low i expect and being so hot
When your leads hitting the water, how far does it travel down stream would you say? from impact on the surface till the river bed. I only ask as I have been doing a lot of barbel fishing recently and struggle to fish really tight because the lead is move downstream more then I would like, from the time it lands on the waters surface until it hits the river bed. Any tips to fishing tighter in a strong flow at all mate? cheers
Depends how deep your fishing and how fast the flow is mate, heavier lead is the only option mate and let a really big bow of line out. We’re I was fishing was only 2-3 foot of water in the margin and in a slack so hardly any flow on the line due to my rods being high aswell. Hope this helps a little.
@@willt520 no matey sorry, I haven’t fished that stretch or tried mainline brb were the crabs are yet. I’ve heard that garlic boilies are good and the crabs don’t like them tho! Give them a try.
@@shanekelly143 Iv not fished it a lot in these conditions mate but I would be aiming one towards that motorway sign about half way out pal. We normally catch round to your left but they tend to hide there more when the water is up more. Try one there tho because they still come out

I was on double peg a bit further down from you just before bridge, had 6 over 10lb 2 slightly smaller, I was waiting from Friday night outside in van till open time it was like a race down track 😂 left Monday afternoon, love the content mate, hope you have a cracking season pal.
@specimenanglers3638 obsession with angling is one blogger I watch..look back through his channel about 9 to 11 month.... think he had a 16lb 12 off a1 n a 20lb mirror
Yes mate that’s the only one I know of mate. He’s a good angler, I had a 23 of the stretch last year on my videos but didn’t quite match his 16lb. Couple at 15+ tho
@@specimenanglers3638 I was up at fiskerton on the 17th just for early morning session..only had 3 barbel before I got breamed out... I'm hoping to get on A1 stretch Sunday but it'll be rammed again I bet.. yeah . Yeah I've been following yr vids on the stretch. You get some crackers out pal I have to say.
Love watching your videos. I'm very new to barbel fishing Looking at getting some mainline big river barbel dumbells. And groundbait Never used them they look an awesome bait.
