Lucky I met you at the gas station in the south of Iceland and you told me about your RU-vid channel. Impressive movies I enjoy watching the documentations. Gives me inspiration for my next motorcycle trips 👍
IMHO the best choice is Mitas E07 (non-plus) Dakar rear with better front, Anakee Wild or K60 Ranger if on budget. Anakee Wild is better off-road and on sand. Either combo would last 10-12k miles or 15-20k kilometers and could possibly go more if you need to get home.
I find every time I ride my KTM 2022 1290 SAR so addicting with it's power but yet so manageable it suits me for what I use it for and I can have a blast at the same time, it brings out the kid in me at 64 years old and with the technology that KTM puts in the tech pack, of this beast, it looks out for you when you make mistakes better than any other bike in its class. I have to remind myself it's not a dirt bike, it's a beast of an adventure bike that is so capable, and still needs to be respected because it's a powerful beast. Did I mention it's fun to ride?
I noticed whenever hes taking a right corner, he is counter balancing alot more than his left corners. to a point where it significantly increase the lean angle necessary for the given corner...
@@MotoVibes looked amazing I’m doing a lot more off road riding these days Hopefully this will help me prepare for some TET rides Not the most sensible thing to start in you sixties but life is a short ride and I want as many miles under my belt as possible
After the announcement of the new models for 2021, there were a lot of 2020s sitting in the dealers' lots. So in Oct 2020 I got a new SAS OTD for $16,500 which compared to current prices, was an absolute bargain. It has been a great bike.
@@67daltonknox it’s usually the best time to get an outgoing model for a good price - I did exactly the same and purchased the 2021 a year after it released
thinking about going here on the bike next week for 4 days . is it worth the treck from england and are there enough rides for 4 good days out in the area .
@@daveosborne4273 I would say there is about 600 km of road in the Harz that I have in my GPX library. You can ride many roads from the other direction as well doubling the experience 😉
Hello my friend First of all, thank you for the video as it is very well detailed and has been very helpful to me. I currently have a 2023 Super Adventure R and I want to install the kit you mentioned for 19 and 17 rims. Can you help me with the ABS rings as I can't find a way to acquire them anywhere. Thank you very much again and greetings from the Canary Islands.
@@Alesper the ABS rings were not easy to find. I found a link on the KTM Forum but it is years ago - there was someone who made these rings in small batches but I cannot even remember the user name in the forum
Instability at high speeds is an issue that you generally have with all touring enduros. This is simply due to the long suspension travel. And I can confirm that this problem is particularly pronounced on the KTM 1290 SAS. In my experience, there is only one real exception and that is the BMW GS. I suspect this is due to the Telelever. The GS I rode was absolutely stable even at 200 km/h.
That is true - however, the 2021 models of the KTM did better than the predecessors. The BMW is pretty stable too but it also doesn't get up to the same top speeds as the KTM
How is the nexx helmet behaving? I plan to buy one, but i am a bit scared as i have not heard of this company before. Also i heard they are well made and durable.
Thanks for sharing the experience! We went most of the places in juli and august, so watching this brings me a bit back to those moments. You showed me a lot of new places which are pinned for next vacation, especially the Dolomite and the roads to it, we had to skip due to time restraints. Thanks for making the video, great storystelling!!
@@thingsido6067 thank you very much- glad this video brought back good memories- it’s good to not see everything in one trip - so you have the more reason to return 😉
Thank you. Only the piston rods were replaced- they were still within the clearance but barely and since the engine was open already they got replaced too as a precaution
