I like to refer to them at the 'Mitre years' the year after this Nike bought the sponsorship rights and changed the match balls and Sky changed production look. Also, a lot of the smaller brand kit manufacturers got taken over by Nike, Adidas, and Puma and the beginning of the era of overpriced shitty generic training top quality kits came about. It seemed like the Premier League changed overnight after 1999-00. Wimbledon and Wednesday haven't been back since.
I knew Leeds was in the shit when they sold Rio to Fergie and Man U, but I never thought it would be 16 years between Premiership games. These were the team's dark ages for sure.
So, here I am watching this back (giving myself shudders as I remember all of this unfolding at that dark time) and the date today was 10th April 2021, and Leeds United have just beaten Man City today in the Premier League to go 9th in the division. First season back from this shit show by the way. So it only took 16 years to recover.....but recover we have!! And in other news, Leeds United are as of today's 3 points against Manchester City, mathematically safe from relegation this season! Well done lads.
Watching this after our 16 year exile from the Premier League is finally over!!! WERE BACK been a long journey back but hopefully a brighter future awaits
Oh Yeah That's Right. I've Used To Love Watching The Simpsons On Channel 4 Television When I Was A Kid And Since Then I'm A Huge Big Super Awesome Simpsons Fan. The Show Is Now Owned By Disney. Thanks Rex Landyn Mate. X
Absolutely gut wrenching to think that the team which started in 2001 against Valencia all of them had left the club by 2004 - what on earth was going on behind the scenes then absolutely appalling. Hope we can get promoted under Bielsa i know we blew it last season but glad we've kept him in charge give him chance to build a project at Leeds.
Paul Gray It’s a shame the way last season ended in the playoffs against derby, it was my toughest night as a Leeds fan. We’ve had a lot of bad memories since we’ve been out of the premier league, playoff final defeats to Watford in 2006 and Doncaster in 2008. We’ve been stuck in the championship for nearly a decade, most of the season’s we’ve had back in the championship we’ve always finished mid table except for 2010/11, 16/17 and 18/19. But losing to derby in the playoffs is up there as my worst memory as a Leeds fan because it was closest we came to getting back to the premier league since I’ve been going. The second leg at home to derby was our biggest game in years and my biggest game as a Leeds fan. But it wasn’t to be, it was a tough night for all leeds fans. But I’m confident we’ll do well again this season, this may well be the season that we finally get back to the premier league. Come on Leeds.
